I feel like if WG actually started to balance premium tanks, it would cause a shitstorm in the short term, but once players get used to the new state of things, it will be just fine. And the game would be a lot healthier for it.

WG probably fears that if it nerfs premium vehicles, sales of new premium vehicles will drop dramatically because players will be very reluctant to spend €40 on a tank that is great when it comes out but then gets nerfed 6 months later.

its not about nerfing premium tanks! its about nerfing the t95fv and the obj279e. These are reward tanks not premiums. Premiums should never been touched unless they need some buff adjastments.

See the thing is though, I buy a guitar for $1000 and after a few years I can expect the finish to get scratched, the frets to wear out and the wood to degrade from heating/cooling and wet/dry seasons. That guitar should then be worth $500 or so give or take. With any real life item, players have to accept that premium tanks can age, change and get worse or better just like a real life item. I would also not expect to walk into that guitar store and see the SAME guitar for $1000 3 years later, it would be a reduced cost. WG has been selling us years-old premium tanks at the exact same price they were released when brand new despite being powercrept, left behind and often made completely irrelevant.

I wanted to write the same comment as yours, bro, because that guy in the video featured by QB is the exact reason I don't play this game anymore after more than 10 years in. Sadly, I'm bored of those invincible tanks. I don't even speak about the latest one, BZ-176... There will always be people to tell you that it's you that just can't play, that you are the problem. The fact is I'm a decent player (WoT rating 7043) but as you see in that video, there are some situations where you can't do absolutely nothing to win. To compete in those situations, there's no other choice than to acquire the EXACT same OP weapons as your enemy, whether you like it or not. To have a Chieftain you have to play clanwars at highest level, to have a BZ176 you could just rely on luck with those surprise boxes(!), only 279e can be obtained with numerous missions, some of them also based on pure luck of circumstances

I personally think he should've rested a bit longer and not put such unnecessary strain on his voice, it honestly sounded quite painful to me, making me a bit uncomfortable. Maybe there would've been other ways to deliver Content to us, like maybe have his wife do a voice over, or maybe try an artificial voice (like some text to speech programms), honestly seems like it could've been extra fun. But ultimately that is just my opinion, maybe others are just happy to hear him again, even under such circumstances, nevertheless we indeed do appreciate the Content provided.

wasn't me in the mauschen but literally just had that same thing happen to me. Did one shot of damage to the 79e and he farmed me from full to 0. You get 3 games like that in a row and you turn the game off its pointless on the weekends.

one thing they could do without nerfing it is making 279e and Chieftain have a special MM to only face tier x tanks only and never face tier 8 at least, they will be the same powerfull tank but without abusing tier 8 players

It goes way beyond the 279e/chieftain. It seems every new premium tank or game mechanic introduced favors players willing to spend allot of money like the BZ176 or Iron Arnie, and then making maps to favor hull down monsters while simultaneously offering that hull down monster for cash. And as if that's not enough, they try to deal with the problem by nerfing any tank that you can grind for free because it's too competitive. How is nerfing a tank, that I spent hours and hours grinding to get, just so I could stand a chance against a 279e considered O.K. People now have resorted to game rigging, just to compete. This game that I loved is turning into a toxic nightmare, I go away feeling angry and frustrated more times than not and that inevitably results in less time playing the game.

I've unlocked 279e like 2 years ago, played like 5 battles (not really good performance cos i just drove yolo and died) and never used it anymore. I just feel dirty and uncomfortable playing it, knowing that I have unfair advantage over other players.

What's sad to me is that this is not the first video that QB has done, and not only that, he's not the only CC that has made a video like this about these stupidly OP vehicles. The fact that WG still refuses to do anything about them just proves even more just how little WG actually cares about it's community. they won't listen to literally every CC out there and they won't listen to the vast majority of the player base. They would rather cater to the handful of sweaty individuals that have the tanks, and allow them to run around doing 10k damage every other game ruining it for other players. When the game dies, it will be to the surprise of no one that the balance department would have killed it if they don't do anything.

I just don't care about people bitching about balance in this game when they generally support nerfs/changes to arty which I played for years (hit Tier X in 5 different arty lines) and now all sit under a thick layer of dust because they've been broken over and over again. I don't have any of the OP tanks, but money talks, if everyone stops playing tier 7,8,9,10 it would cause a headache for WG, when nobody plays the thing you love or that gives you money then you have an incentive to change, if by changing they survived as a company they would do it, but first they need to feel the hurt of nobody liking what they are doing. so don't play those tiers where they make money, encourage your friends to stop, switch to a different game for a time, and in the next survey when they ask saying... cause I hate the premiums...

In regard to "PAID FOR" premiums - the problem is they *CAN'T* do anything about those for which money has changed hands... That *IS* the law (at least in some countries). If nothing else, it highlights that they should have got their sh*t together and balanced the bl...dy things to begin with in testing. That is a problem that WG created for themselves and they have no one else to blame but themselves. For "REWARD" tanks ... no idea. I can't *think* of anything immediately (just looking at AU law in my country) as to why the could not adjust those but it would be pretty bad PR if they did. They would have to offer something up as compensation though.

If they couldn't change premium vehicles, it would also bar them from ever buffing any of them. But you can see that doesn't stop them. It's an excuse.

The biggest balancing issue overall is gold rounds, the game is balanced around them and it a massive issue due to the differences in pen vs non-prem rounds and even round type.

Yeah they should be variants, not plain buffs. Different speed, could have more pen but less damage and so forth. oddly some arty shells are a good example of decent variety and actual choice. Gold vs normal is never a choice, it should be.

No. Some vehicles can play without gold and against some vehicle like Obj 279(e) or Obj268v4 you need to use gold. Whty Grille 15 need to use gold against about everything while everything can use HE against it. And ask if it uses AP or other ammunition with advantage: no! The gun handling is a shit, the camo is a shit, the mobility is a shit, everything is a shit. The balancing of Wargaming is a shit. THERE ARE NO BALANCING IN THIS GAME. CHECK E 100 AND OBJ 279 (E). E 100 weakpoints are 1000 times bigger than Obj 279(e). It has worse gun handling, worse pen... worse everything. THERE ARE NO BALANCING IN THIS GAME!

@@Nova_501 the game can be rebalanced so that this works. Its dumb to be balanced around gold rounds in the first place. And not really, you can flank etc, a higher pen less damage round works fine, if you do not want to flank you can switch to a round that has a higher chances to pen but less damage. There is 0 reason to ever use anything other than gold right now, this is horrible design. Maybe that is not the solution, but i do strongly believe this is a fundamental problem. Round variety doesn't really exist, especially after HE changes.

Really, dude skoda t56 is way better tank than bz176 just people are not talking so much about them.. 130 caliber and 2 times 460 damage with 3.5 interclip reload is way more OP then 800 damage and then same reload as skoda…

But the armor isn't as good as the BZ, the lfp is weak, sides are weak, turret has the giant cuppola and doesn't need to be overmatched. Plus you are forgetting the main downside of the skoda and all autoloader, you need to hit and pen all your shots. Skoda misses or bounces 1 shot and its not a threat, the BZ literally just needs to hit you once. Its armor for its tier is very strong. The fact wg says the bz uses its rng to "balance" the tank is a joke. You can literally 2 shot any other tier 8 heavy with the bz, sure the skoda can do it with 2 clips of 490 each, but again the skoda armor, no hesh mean its harder. Why do you think people don't complain about the Caliban its has a great gun, slow shell speed, no armor, it has downside but the bz is basically a tier 9 heavy for its armor and gun

Which one has the Skoda out of those? The Skoda has cupola, the hull is kinda weak, its sluggish mobility wise and cannot play so easily on ridgelines.

I don't remember the Type59 being so OP and they nerfed it. In fact, I'd say today's tier 8 premiums are more overpowered Vs techtree tanks than the Type59 was back in the day. I think part of what made the 59 so OP was the combination of speed and player comradery, you'd suddenly find a couple of Type59 best friends and without saying a word, pick out lone tanks and surround them like a pack of wolves!!

Hope you feel better. And agreed, WoT's/Wargaming has been slowly doing away with fair balance for awhile now unfortunately. I used to play, took a break and came back 2 years later. A lot of my tanks that could hold their own (premiums and regular) were just flat out not effective/competitive anymore unfortunately compared to newer vehicles.

It's just the fact that better players know the exact values of the plates they are aiming for and know their likely hood of penning it, as well as likely hood of hitting it. Also, better players don't base their plays based on that one shot (They peek the shots in "Proper" fashion, so to say they know they ain't gonna get penned but they have a chance of shooting the enemy). It's just an skill issue. Nothing else.

Worse players just suffer more from it because they intentionally/unintentionally base their plays too much on to those few shots. Comes from a ~4k wn8. Edit. And also, sometimes i see players on streams for example blaim rng because they for example missed an E 100 lower plate, where as in fact for example the E 100 was just wiggling and the player just shot their tracks. Simply poor aim.

I really don't find the 268v4 hard to deal with. The cupola is a big weak spot, the upper plate can be penned from a slighty elevated angle or when it rocks forward, and the two inwards-angled plates on the superstructure can be penetrated from a reasonable angle, too. Edit: Yeah, the superstructure part is really only when you load gold or when it goes too broadside

Technically speaking if you have purchased a product and that product is later fundamentally changed, you could make an argument that some form of refund offer becomes available. This would not apply to reward vehicles. That is sort of why sony removing third party OS access from the PS3 caused issues.

Wargaming very likely has a clause in the purchase contract that makes them allowed to make any changes whatsoever to a product or purchase no matter what, just to protect their own asses. And yes this happens all the time. I spent over a thousand dollars on Google Play Music buying songs years ago. When they shut down google play music, I lost ALL of my songs. Just because I purchased them doesn't mean I was entitled to them through digital ownership. Often these contracts are written in a way that's more like "You are buying a liscenced copy of ______" not actually buying ownership of the product. Often they reserve the right to change or remove any feature or change the product in any way before or after purchase. Almost any digital purchase is like this.

While service closure would allow withdrawal of access to digital products, depending on the product, fundamental changes to specifics upon which a sale may have been made is not something you could get out of. I don't think WG want to test this in court, especially when such a large chunk of players are EU based.

There is a way WG can balance 279 and chiftan without changing any of their stats. Just buff all the other tanks in the game. And then u can say technically we didn't nerf any premium/award tank

I stopped playing years ago because of the premium tank problem. Still remember when premium tanks were excused as making more xp and credits, being flexible for crew training but being a bit worse than their tech tree equivalents or at least, if not worse, far less rounded. They tended to be one trick ponies. At some point that seemed to switch, maybe it was the type 59, a tank that was a fairly well rounded vehicle compared to it's very odd, good situationally but generally pretty bad tech tree equivalent. I had some premium tanks but it started to feel like an arms race to get what ever the latest broken piece of crap they'd just released was and really most tech trees felt like mostly meh or weird until tier 10, a tier I was never overly fond of, preferred playing at tier 8 or 9 just due to the metas at those tiers at the time. I also predicted and am probably correct that unless they banned reward and premium vehicles from clan wars and strongholds then those elements of the game are swamped with them even at tier 10 these days.

Ive spent plenty of money on the game and would enjoy if i could actually use my old stuff again, but everytime i check up on the state of the game i see that im not missing out on anything. When you watch the stats of the tier 10 and the tier 10 you see the problem in 2 sec : Chieftain, 279 (e), Bourrasque, BZ 176, Skoda T56, ELC EVEN, all of them are broken and WG don't care. I'm F2P player since 10 years and I'm slowly loosing interest in the game because of all this OP tanks, gold spam and insane MM. Don't know if I'll be into the game at the end of the year

I do have perfect cure for Cheeftain or 279 and that is T110E4 with 375mm pen ammo. If he push you step back for reload, put 2 rounds in his face and his big balls will shrink very fast 😂😂

One problem I see about nerfing premium/reward tanks is I do not trust WG not to sell deliberately overpowered vehicles and then nerf after people have bought it and then rinse and repeat1

Last time I had Covid, I had a similar experience, where symptoms felt like they were getting better, but later resurfaced. And when I thought I was finally getting better, it happened again an additional time where symptoms came back. Took me over 3 weeks to fully recover and all symptoms to dissipate.

after being in the game 10 years I'm not bothered about nerfing tanks as much as the total imbalance of random matchmaking games. A total insult to intelligence! Pretty obvious that view range armor and penetration is decided and nerfed on the losing side. It used to be that battles lasted more than just 10 mins. It's now almost impossible for 1or 2V -5 battles endings to favor the 1 or 2 players as their pen is reduced and damage to their vehicles increased at the end of battles. I doubt wargaming is going to get another penny out of me!. Infact the game has become quite boring with the afore mentioned.

The console version tier 10 matchmaking is being decimated by the Centurion AVRE, a tier 10 medium with a 1400 damage HESH round and spaced armor added all over the front plates. You're getting games with 5-6 of these monsters on each team.

I would love to see both the 279e and the Chieftain nerfed. Balancing is without a doubt great for the game but when you have tanks that are excluded from having to be balanced, balancing tech tree tanks doesn't really help the health of the game all that much. I think tier 8 is actually in a worse spot with that regard than tier 10 though too. If you load into a tier 8 game and the enemy team has BZ-176s, Skoda T56s, and Borrasques for top tier tanks while your team has Tiger 2s, TNH 105s, and Pershings, what are you supposed to do? I just feel like the power discrepancy is worse at tier 8 than tier 10 although I think they all should be balanced. I see a lot of people saying that nerfing these tanks would cause a lot of problems and hesitancy to buy tanks and it probably would, but only in the short term. I am already hesitant to buy any new tech tree tier 10s in fear it will get nerfed. I am f2p and tier 10s are just so expensive to buy that I can't buy many of them. I own 6 and 3 of them have been nerfed since I purchased them which is really frustrating when often times WG goes way overboard with the nerfs (Kran needed a nerf but I really think they went too far with the Kran. Its winrate also backs that statement up). With my christmas 20% off a tier 10 I almost used it on the AMX M4 54 and I am super happy I didn't because I think they may have went too far with that one as well. With that all being said tho, the hope is that WG will get everything balanced out correctly relatively quickly and if they do nerf something too hard or buff something to hard they respond quickly and fix it. If we see them do a great job balancing the game I don't think there will be long term frustrations or hesitancy to buy new tanks. Unfortunately, as we see with the prog and standard B nerfs, WG is not always making the best buff and nerf decisions. Both the Maus and Udes are currently in the battle pass and top of the tree like the prog was, so are both of those tanks going to get played a ton and nerfed because of it? Hopefully WG can figure out the balancing and which tanks need adjustments better in the future and if they do the game will be a better place for it.

Super Pershing nerf fell foul of EU rules on online selling, where the item received is not what was advertised for sale, by changing the in game stats to differ from what was advertised as sold it allowed payers to be entitled to a full cash refund. The reward tanks where never for sale so are not covered so should be changed.

I made myself ill trying to do my last 279e missions, and managed to get it last summer. I rarely use it in random battles, it's only used in stronghold and global map games. It definitely needs a nerf in firepower and mobility, like what they did with the kranvagn. They shouldn't touch the armour otherwise the tank will become irrelevant. Drop it's speed from 40 to 30, and take of 1 round per minute and the tank would feel like an is4

Good idea. However you'd need to take into consideration stock guns. When driving a tank with a stock gun you sometimes need to load a lot of gold.

Not only the balancing of these vehicles are a total failure, but I have noticed, most of the times, these 2 tanks (Obj 279e and Chieftain) are in the same team rather than being opponents, as they should... and they have to fight against IS7s, T57 Heavies, Rinocerontes and other out off meta tanks... and then you have players complaining about 15-2 or 2-15 scores... total failure! But I will insist that the bigger cancer of the game is EBRs... their play style have ruined the game.

I was surprised by this video honestly. I missed this version of quickybaby and this is the version I originally followed for. I genuinely appreciate your input laid out this way. You didn't just jump on WG and it wasn't all just complaints. It was well thought out information and BOTH sides of the coin were put out there and it wasn't just all doom gloom and pitch forks. Not to mention lastly, the servers could be shutdown whenever they want and they would owe nothing to anyone and that's a sad fact. All online games are subject to this and there's nothing anyone can do about it. So we should just enjoy the game while it lasts because someday it just won't be there and none of this will even matter. With that said quickybaby is absolutely right, other online gaming companies nerf their paid for content all the time and people complain but over all it's for the best of the game. Indeed, spending a lot of time lifting will make you better at lifting weights than someone who doesn't, but you being capable of using bigger weights doesn't negatively impact someone else from lifting smaller ones. I agree, if someone spends a lot of time on something, they should be rewarded in some way, but imagine this. With your lifting analogy, let's say there is this new special weight, that only the strongest can use. But by using it, they have a negative influence on everyone in else in the gym, literally, for everyone else in the gym it is more difficult to get stronger while this one dude is using this weight. That is the difference with your weird as analogy, it isn't just a boon for those who get it, which I would be fine with if it was the case, it actively hurts those who don't have it. I'm fine with a powerful tank, but the obj279e right now has a 60% winrate, and while I accept that those who play this tank are on average better than those who don't, I highly doubt that the average winrate of all 279e players is 60%.

As for the 279e. It is super good, but only against people who don't know how to pen it. There are many weak points to exploit when at close range, contrary to what quicky claims. You just need to know where to hit it and when to hit certain spot at given angles. Allot of times it IS a skill issue, not a tank issue. But without a doubt, the 279 is still super strong generally speaking. Some of these weakpoints granted, are hard shots. Also yeah. For your average CW player, from what I've seen. Everyone wants the 279e and Chieftain, but no one wants to actually play it. Because it winds up being all you do play. It's boring after awhile.

And chief out of a ridge line is a joke, very easy to pen in many places. And exactly what you said, where is the challenge in playing strong tanks? Good players get bored after some time. These "weak spots" only exist with gold ammo, only on certain angles, and still aren't 100% certain to pen or stupidly hard to hit, unless you are at facehugging distance or have tier 10 TD pen. As a CW 279e enjoyer it is fine to nerf the 279e but you also need to nerf the Chieftain at the same time. CW/Advances would just turn into 15v15 Chieftains (or vice verse) if you nerf one and not the other

My team won against a platoon of 279e yesterday - we broke through the other flank and capped (lol). The flank on the side with the 279e platoon completely collapsed, surprising no one... and the enemy team had a case of 'no cap kill all' or something, that lost them the win.

Rebalancing reward tanks should be mandatory. However I would not agree to nerfing premium vehicles as those were bought with money at the time players thought their stats were good for them, even tho I know WG plays around with the hidden stats on these vehicles anyways, like making them less accurate or always roll minimum damage per shot and just blaming RNG..

I would much rather see the cheiftian get nerfed than the 279e, the 279e can be dealt with pretty easily if your in a tier 10 tank (excluding light tanks). the chieftain sitting on a ridgeline yeah doesn't matter what you fire at it your gonna struggle. plus the chieftain is just so fast. and as a clan wars player I can def say nerfing the cheiftain would make clan wars WAYYY more fun, literally every single map for clan wars now is like 5+cheiftains a couple CS's 1-3 ebrs maybe a leo and strv and maybe a couple 279es.

If they nerfed premium tanks, I would never buy one again. I was down that path with Sony and Planet side 2 when it released (RIP guided missile launcher). It is just another got you trap they use to make you buy more items when they nerf them. What WG needs to do, is pull their head out of their ass and rebalance the game every 3 months, not every 2 years. There are tanks in the game that haven't been touched since I started playing in 2016.

OBJ 279 and chief tangs are the least of my worries, many more OP vehicles in other tiers. At least 279 and chief tang you can work for them and earn those, boosting companies are another topic. look at the BZ176.. VZ etc.. Good luck having good games in random battles with 279, MM balances it with extreme rng 0 bouncing Ing in many games lower plate or not.

I will probably get some hate for this, but if WG nerfed premium tanks they would start losing a lot of money because of that decision, many people won't risk buying a tank if there's a good chance it gets nerfed and they suddenly have a bad tank they never wanted. Regarding the reward tanks I know people who bid upwards of 80k bonds for the Cheiftain and you can be pretty damn sure these are the whales who spend the most on the game. This issue would have a much better chance of getting solved if the community would brainstorm some ideas with how to balance these vehicles without upsetting the whales who fund the game instead of saying "WG is so stupid".

I nerfed a 279e myself recently, using a full gold clip from my foch 155. The 279e player sent me a message after the battle, suffice to say he was not happy! The "balancing" changes WG make often make no sense. Examples being the progetto and the AMX65t (lol). Or if they do make a good change it very often doesn't go far enough, only making very small nerfs that will make incredibly little impact to the vehicle. They also need to get over this refusal to nerf premium tanks for fear of the community shitstorm. All players agree to the EULA when they play the game, which literally has a section in it stating they hereby accept changes to the game including paid content. So WG can legally do whatever they like with premium tanks you bought. However doing so might generate ill-will or mistrust, but WG do plenty of that themselves already and yet the game remains popular while players turn a blind eye to all the questionable things WG do.

I think that what is needed for nerfing rewards and premium vehicles are baby steps. Here are some examples for specific tanks: BZ-176- make the roof armour from 41 to 40 so that 122 mm guns can overmatch in close quarters, 2 patches later make the pen on the HESH-ish rounds 180 and on the AP sth like 215 Chief - nerf the gun handling and enlarge the weakspot, 2 patches later nerf the rate of fire or the armour (but not both at once) T-34-85M - make it either a copy of the tech tree tanks, or leave it with higher rate of fire, but at the cost of mobility and/or gun handling Skoda T56 - reduce the Alfa damage to 400 or 420 (920 in 3.5s is just ridiculous); 2 patches later make the cupola a bit bigger or nerf the magazine reload a little leFH - either remove it completely and refund everyone who has it, or make its base reload speed 20s whilst not touching anything else Iron Arnie - reduce the amount of spaced armour to 30-40 mm, 2 patches later nerf the gold pen to sth normal for T8 mediums, say, 280 mm The list can go on and on - you can agree that all these steps are really small and none of them will either ruin the tank in question, or even change its playstyle - it will just make the tank better for the game. Nerfing gun handling of any tank is the last thing ever that should be touched. Gun handling, in general, contains so many RNG elements, that, whenever a tank is nerfed, by adding more RNG to it, it doesn't make it balanced, but just makes it frustrating to play. Like Progetto nerf now, that just kills the desire of players to play it. Nerfing armor and / or mobility, damage per shot, reload time etc... those are ok elements to change. Adding layer over layer over layer of RNG is not. It is boring, annoying, frustrating and the better player you are, the more you are hurt by RNG.

I don't enjoy the game as I did when it first launched. Balancing has been out of whack for many years on the NA server! MM is on crack and RNG is drunk. This game has gone to shit there's game rigging going on these past few years unenjoyable to play plus tanks always getting nerfed, maps reworked instead of creating new ones. So I play other games that are more fun or just watch a good movie and just skip gaming altogether. WoT will always be around because of the micromanaging and clan wars. I remember when both teams could communicate by text in chat enemies and friendlies could talk to each other. I wouldnt mind every year at Christmas a full rebalance where EVERY vehicle gets a proper rebalancement if something got out of the hand over the year. That way you know that even if you got a stupidly overpowered vehicle, its only gonna be that statsfarmer until Christmas with the rebalancing. When the game first came out ( in 2010) it was advertised as a tank strategy and the ethos of the gameplay was all about tactics . It remains that way for a good few years before increasing speed of tanks and gameplay made it into a fBS as it is now.

The fact that the Obj 260 was one of the most overpowered tanks in the game when it was released alongside the Obj 279e, but it has been "balanced" by the release of new and better Clan Wars tanks and the fact that clan wars tanks are a lot more common than they used to be and now there is one in pretty much every other game. That tells you something about the state o the clan wars tanks. Not to mention if you see that the enemy team has a reward tank and your team don't, you really feel as if you are playing the game on "hardmode". If one tank can change how a player thinks the battle is going to develop that tank is clearly in a bad spot, either overpowered or underpowered and it needs to be addressed regardless of it being a reward/premium"tech tree tank.

The problem is also in the gold rounds. In Armored Warfare for instance, all rounds are the same price, but apcr on a non manned turret does almost no damage for instance. Overpenetration as well. It requires knowledge. Wot requires a big wallet.
