But in the current years they should not be weaker. Back in the time they were weaker but, they had preferential Match Making. So these days they should be a bit more balanced, Especially since they can see tier X battles.

But you get a worse gun and worse side hull armour as a result. There's a trade off for sure but the turret armour isn't actually that much better on the AX.

Duckman1616 The turret buff lets you stand and fight more which yields higher dpg in the long run, despite having 300 less dpm and lower alpha per shot. I don't care too much about the side armor because this thing is dead in the open anyways.

You're only gaining about 10mm of effective armour on the turret unless they fire into the spaced armour on the cheeks, it's not really going to hold up much better. Side armour isn't just about being out in the open, it helps a lot when side scraping or angling the tank. The AX also has a much more prominent cupola, making it more vulnerable on maps where you can't use your gun depression to hide it. I just don't see how it's going to perform better than the regular version.

The thing with the caernarvon AX is even though it only deals 230 dmg, it does fire 2-2.5x than what the other heavies can manage, so in retrospect it does have an average damage of 460 provided both shots penetrated.

Bought it, and enjoying it. Armour is very bouncy in my experience (3000 +) . Much better than FV201, which i dislike. A good crew is esential. Gun proving to be ultra accurate. No regrets.

The fact that this tank isn't the "latest and greatest" is a great thing. It's a premium tank that won't feel like it's pay to win, like the Skorpion G. This is a good thing! Well done WG :)

skorpion G is by far no pay to win. gun is too random (maybe some secret nerfs to gun stats?). if you look for a pay to win tank (means: too strong compared to its regular tech-tree-tank): Defender, Patriot, Chrysler GF, WZ-120-1 FT, E25, centurion MK 5. I admit, skorpion G can be very strong, but you have to know about the game to use it properly. Otherwise: If you are spotted, you are dead!

The Skorp is a Ravioli but better in almost every way. The only thing that's *significantly* better on the Ravioli is its health and gun depression. Skorp has better pen, alpha, reload, accuracy, top speed, engine power, etc. "Like the Ravioli? Here, try this better version, the Skorp G!" That's p2w in my book. Yes the tank has flaws, but the fact that it's just a better version of another premium feels like p2w to me. I'm not saying some of those other tanks aren't p2w, like the E25, Panzer J, etc. But the Skorp fits the bill for me.

Please, do not compare mediums with TDs. Want to compare the Skorpion? Compare it to its regular counter-part in the tech-tree: Rhm.Borsig WT. Armour: same; DPM: better on Borsig; Gunhandling: slightly better on Skorp; mobility: better on Skorp; camo-values: much better on Borsig; Maybe the Skorpion is slightly better than the Borsig due to its great mobility, but a well placed Borsig is still very strong. So Skorpion is a very strong tank, but in my opinion no pay to win like other tanks. A pay to win tank is (in my eyes) a tank that allows errors and you still perform good.

A tank that allows errors and is still a good tank is an OP tank, not p2w. You're confusing the two. OP would be a tank that can perform well even when used by crap players in many scenarios - such as the Type 4/5 Heavy, 268-4, Panzer J, etc. A tank that is p2w is simply a tank that can be bought and provide *significant* advantages. The Skorp and Borsig are similar in tank classification and name, and that's about it. A better comparison of a premium to a standard would be the T-34-85 and T-34-85M. Almost the same tank, and excellent example of how a premium should be. The Skorp is nothing like the Borsig. Vastly different guns (when using the 750 alpha, aka the top gun), vastly different mobility, vastly different camo. They don't play similarly. Borsig relies on camo while the Skorp relies on ambush and kiting from long distances - something the Borsig could never do - hence why the Skorp compares to the Ravioli so much better. The Skorp is a Ravioli except better in almost every way. There's a reason the Skorp is by far the most bought premium tank in the game.

Average player will invest time, get 5th or 6th level, and then will be forced to buy it with real money or previous effort will be lost.

I already bought this tank, didnt even bother with the grind, i dont have alot of time but i have enough money, it was 75 bucks all in all. i find it to be a fun tank. i bounce alot of shots when i probably shouldnt, and i also tend to not have problems penning. is it worth 75 bucks, prob not but i will say that i enjoy the tank but as for what QB said, this tank is not for the faint of heart. it take skill and patience. if you do not have those then i would grind for the other things instead of the tank. good vid QB keep it up.

Just stick with the Centurion Mk. 5/1 RAAC . Same gun ,10mm less armour on front with more speed and traverse and the armour on the Action x dont mean shite anyway with premium ammo punching through it. Unless it gets a beefer gun i won't bother and i'm british i would love to own it just not worth it with that gun.

I like the regular Caernarvon. This looks good enough to me, but not to actually pay money for it. BTW, quick tip, if you tend to find yourself running out of regular ammo and having to use premium ammo, carry less premium and more regular. It helps in that regard. Good video.

I tend to do the same. If the gun is not tiny, for example my IS-6 I use 19 regular, 4 premium, 7 HE. Obviously if 40-50% of my ammo is premium eventually I am going to have to use it, then be "disappointed" I "had" to use premium ammo...

For superunicums like QB, being in bottom tier does not stop them from carrying games in tier 10 matches. They just treat it as a half HP tier 10 using the premium ammo. Hence, they carry a lot of premium ammos in case they do need them. And even if it is expensive occasionally to use these shells, most of the time they make a lot more silvers per game than the average players so it will not matter.

I actually do train British heavy crews in the TOG. Have the A45 but that thing is incredibly bad (although I've seen some players able to make it work, its basically a BP that gives up armor for nothing in return). Never felt the need to get the Excelsior, though if I can get it through tank rewards once that is back I certainly won't mind. Don't have the time or money to buy/grind the Caernarvon AX, as much as I want it. Got through the first stages in one session this weekend but that's all the time I have to play until after the marathon is over.

I didn't enjoy the old Caernarvon when I had to go through it to get FV 215b before it was replaced, so instead of playing 3-4 hours a day I will stay with my FV4202.

I find camping in this game quite rewarding especially if your team are a bunch of tomatoes. You get more XP for staying alive longer and farming up some damage from a distance.

What usually happens, on the NA server, is your team camps like crazy and you have to trade with an IS3 which results in you doing 722 damage to him as he farms your 1,500 hp or your team storms the field and you struggle to do much damage as they voraciously devour the enemy team.

QB shows why it is so important for the team to defend that end of the ridge. If the enemy makes it up on that corner like QB did and controls it all they have to do is just sit there and spot for arty and its like shooting fish in a barrel. So many players don't realize this when playing that side of the map. This map is badly flawed IMO. One side is much easier to win from than the other. WG needs to address this problem with the map. They need to balance it out better.

The 230 alpha is doable its just those low rolls....sometimes feels like you are using the 16 pnder with the low dmg rolls. Since it doesn't really play like a heavy tank, its alpha is inline with most mediums. So it doesn't bother me so much when it comes down to it. Its a ridge line support sniper is how you have to use at it. Another nice thing that can happen often is no one will pay attention to you in a multi tank kind of brawn because of your lower alpha and play back a bit from the brawlers. That allows you to peck away or track vehicles a lot. I loved the standard Caernarvon just after the turret buff and no 32 pnder at that time.... so I am sure this is going to be great to have.

Thanks. You sort of confirmed what I thought. I've missed the start of the challenge due to being on holiday. Being British, it would have been nice to have. But as I already have good crews in my tier 8 & 10 British heavies. There is no point in me putting the effort or the money into this tank. Cheers!

As this is the first tier 8 premium heavy for the British, I think that it fits in the line fairly well. Is the tank on it's own worth the money and/or time for the grind? No, certainly not, but when you factor in that you also get 30 2 hour boosters for 50% extra credits, a crew and a lot of other goodies, I think that the price is at least a little fair. I set the goal for myself to grind the missions to at least level 5, and I am at the moment working on level 4, so I got that going for me. I think that with a 50% discount, paying 30 euros is doable, since you get everything and not just the tank.

I play WOT console and bought the patriot because I was looking for a new money making tank. I didn't like it because of the low damage it does for a tier a premium heavy tank so I got tired of it really quick, the mutant 6 came out on discount so I saw its big gun and bought it. I like the tank but if you turn its turret even a little your basically dead. I wouldn't mind trying the Caernarvon AX tho.

I have it now (completed marathon); and after 30 games or i would say it's very unforgiving and the skill cap in it is high. It all comes down to the 50.8 side hull armour as I was worried. The cupola is also an old very horrible version compared to any of the centurion / Caernarvon in game (not front-side contoured or front beveled). I've had shots ricochet off the tank forehead into cupola for damage. Playing it successfully will make you a better player.

I just got today nuked from this tank when i was driving löwe in Frontline, it was pretty openfield i tried to cross and because its rates of fire he killed me very easy. In this moment it was for me like a britsh autoloader vision that never stopped

Ahh the typical gun trolling of the 5100. For me it's typical to miss 2-3 out of clip fully aimed with that tank, reminds of a little of the STB-1 gun handling. Some days it on, and others...well ask the guy in the video.

While I do enjoy this: the other team was moronically bad. In addition the team was doing their job, and the other team wasn't even focusing on him until he had done massive damage. This is not anywhere near what you'll deal with in this tank. Your'e probably going to wish you were platooned with a Super Pershing, in tier 10 battles. It feels like your'e in a tier 8 medium with a damaged engine. The DPM only matters if you can catch people mid position, so it's a tier 8 T10.

Seems like they should have left the 20 pdr Gun in addition to the 32 pdr on the original Caernarvon as optional equiptment and released this as a regualar Tech Tree Premium that would have filled that tier 8 premium tank slot for british heavys and created player choice for everyone playing the regular caernarvon The worse armor of the action x and the different turret would have made it worse and different enough from the regualr tank to be a solid prem tank

they would not even need to buff the DPM of the 20 pdr to the level of the action x now as they could let the original 20 pdr be a 10k Stop Gap cannon for everyone that thinks 171 pen with the 17 pdr is not enough to grind the 30 k to get the Turret and Cannon

Only if you have a prem account. It's a great vehicle but I cannot play it very often since it rips my treasury department to shreds.

Well probably the only good thing about loosing my PC in 2016 is that I dont have to worry about all these fake camos and then buying a tank with a special camo then have people get rid of it so that's one good thing

Surprisingly I've been enjoying the game so much again after the new campaign and this marathon. Gives me incentive to keep playing and just happens that I have 3 weeks pretty much free time to play. sub 20k xp each day, easy free tank.

I wish that the ammo capacity got buff, from 50 rounds to 75 rounds, due to low damage (230).
