I miss those days, where it was actually still essential to look up weak spots on tanks and to get rewarded for actually caring and having the knowledge in a competitive PvP based game. I feel like WG is just slowly but surely getting rid of all the weak spots on tanks and that they try to turn them all into some frontal beasts, that have more than enough armor to bounce standard AP, but just weak enough armor so that premium APCR or HEAT pretty much go through each and every time. It's sad to see how much the game has been dumbed down and how it is literally designed to reward bad players, bad plays and no knowledge or experience whatsoever. I mean, what is the point in all of this armor, if people press their 2 key anyways as soon as they bounce a single shot of this tank, which then turns into utter cheese anyways? I'd rather have decent frontal weak spots back and otherwise armor that I could actually rely on, if people didn't know about my weak spots, instead of these two "new" extremes that WG seems to be aiming for more and more, and that are just insanely retarded and not fun in any way!

He is dangerous for this tank because, in some parts on the frontal armor, you have parts with 63 mm of armor that aren't reachable normaly, but with the spalsh of HE you take way more damage.

Now that artillery are so accurate, they’re honestly the natural counter for everything. I can’t recall how many times I get directly hit by artillery in mediums and fast tanks, and if they don’t directly hit, they miss by only a couple meters, causing that rancid stun and 3-400 damage.

The radio operator was an unwelcome surprise... my Badger now has a 3 skill crew except for a radio man that isn't even BIA yet... of course the obvious fix is to buy a premium Brit TD to train one. WG always has a solution, for a price.

Might just be me, but it seems like it got a frontal weak point above the gun if your at a "slight" angle, the armor seems fairly thin.. Edit: Just double checked, at about 40 degrees on the side I would say, the part above the gun is around 230 mm at the side, so it should be possible to get some good shots in.

I have wot account from 2011 .I was leaving and coming over time. And year and something ago I started playing it more seriously because quickbaby. I rerolled my account and bought four 8 tier premium tanks, five 5 tier premium tanks, got two 6 tier premium tanks. And because I wach quickbaby play I become a lot better player and I enjoy a lot ... but with this new changes it is starting to be more and more less enjoyable to play. I'm gona finish two grind lines I started and after that sell my account or just left it to rot and go play fuc*ing tetris for free :) Sory if my english is not best. Let's see how the tank will do in actual battles outside the test server. I have the feeling that those 300mm effective frontal armor will be useless most of the time with all the 330 and 340mm pen HEAT rounds flying around unless the badger can make proper use of a ridge line. Just another tank forcing us to shoot premium ammo. I liked the system better when they had small weakspots on the frontal armor that could be penetrated with AP and main armor plates that couldn't be penetrated with either ammo but for every tank they change in HD they make the underlying hitbox models worse with less details in every update. Latest example the KV-4 machine gun port WG just quietly removed it from the hitbox (it's still present on the visual model) without even mentioning it in the patchnotes.

Yeah I hate how a lot of weakspots have actually been buffed to nearly the same values as the surrounding zones so now people just fling premium at my heavily armoured tanks and usually get through. Like the other day I shot at the copula of a hulldown E75 with the american 120 AT gun that I swear used to get through it but I bounced 3 shots before I said screw it and switched to apcr to just pen his face.

For me the FV217 is to the Tortoise what the T110E3 is to the T95. Not a complete upgrade, but still better in other ways. The FV has the better gun and overall armor, but the Tortoise is better at fighting in towns due to it not needing to go hull down to hide the weakspot. Any good wall can hide the cupola on the Tortoise but there's not always something in a town to hide the lower plate, But the FV is better on ridges then the Tortoise because it has not upper weakspot like the Tortoise. I really like the FV and I think they've done a good job balancing it: Great gun handling, DPM and frontal armor but you lose a lot of mobility and penetration to get it

@Quickybaby I'm surprised you don't show or mention the T110E4 here which is now lacking competitive capacity considering the badger, FV4005 and AT line updates. With everyone throwing around premium ammunition armour is irrelevant unless you have the opportunity of stopping premium shells which unlike badger / T110E3, most parts of the T110E4 does not. It pays too significantly in aim-time, dps, gun depression just to have mediocre armor, and a slow, 90/90 turret. With the AT / Tortoise buffing why was the T110E4 glaring weakpoint ignored?

I love spamming HESH at hull down badgers in well, my badger, while I look at the HEAT and APCR bouces in the hit log. I'm definitely going to race down the British line. edit: the 15 degree gun arch is perfect for angling, keep the gun pointing at your enemies, and you will bounce a lot more

Indeed - armor vs arms race right there. 1. Make decently armored vehicles with decent penetration. 2. Create premium shots with high penetration. 3. Create ridiculously armored vehicles which can at least to some degree bounce even premium shots. 4. Create vehicles with even more ridiculous penetration to make them now competitive. 5. Repeat 3 and 4 until you get 400+ pens and effective armors. On 60-tons tanks :). Look at tier 8. Back in my days, 190 pen on tier 8 vehicle was OK. Now its trash and you need 220+ pen at tier 8, otherwise you always find something you can't really pen frontally easily. I don't say I can't make 190 pen work. I can. But I just need to get side of way more vehicles than I was made to like 2-3 years ago. New tier premiums are getting 230 pen to be competitive. We can already see things like Obj 252U (Deffender) at tier 8, and soon we will see tier vehicles with 250 pen to be able to pen things like Deffender. Then there will come Offender which will get 280 effective frontal armor even on lower plate. Guess what happens next. Ridiculous this shitstorm originating from prem ammo combined with vehicles lacking actual weak spots. Vehicles like Jagdtiger are getting less and less relevant. 200mm effective frontal armor on upper hull? Used to be decent against lower tiers, now its useless. Utterly.

funny, the only X tank in last four-five? years released with 350+ pen on gold is the useless chineese TD. All playable tier X have at max 350 pen on gold, inluding Badger with pretty shitty gold ammo, its armor is also FAR from being 400 effective. the only recent tank with awesome armor is Kran, with the worst golds on tier X, excluding LTs. The only tank with 400 armor and 400 pen is E3, which is rather old vehicle, and noone calls it OP.

The reason all these new tanks either have god-like armour or paper armour is due to the fact that WG refuse to do something about gold rounds. If gold rounds had the same penetration, but were less expensive and had less damage compared to normal rounds, the game would be far more skillful. For example, a normal round on a T10 medium would have 264 pen, and 400 damage; but a gold round would have 308 pen, but 300 damage. That would make a good balance between damage capabilities, and penetration capabilities. But WG doesn't want to touch gold rounds, so they make tanks where armour doesn't matter at all or tanks that have so much armour that they are nearly immune to gold rounds, because they refuse to balance them.
