With 64mm pen that AP is useless against anything other than low tier lights and mediums. The premium HEAT round may pen a KV2 from the front, but usually you're better off using regular HE, the gun may be accurate for an SPG but not enough to consistently hit specific locations in TD mode.

Actually the tops of most tanks are quite thin, so at range the shells might hit there and penetrate.

@@Dr_V The fact remains that it still has them. How much armor does a Hellcat has on the hull? 12 mm = overmatch. T-34? 45-40 mm = partial overmatch (the shell also comes in from above, negating the sloping). Hell, the Tiger 1 and P with their 25 mm of roof armor. 25 mm for 105 mm AP = overmatch. And that is to name a few. He and Heat can hit the tracks (and any spaced armor the tank has) and not pen for full/any damage.

Your question at the start of the video got me to thinking, Jingle; You're right that the majority of games in WoT range from moderate to poor with a minority being outright terrible. In fact, it was a streak of those terrible games that finally caused me to uninstall it entirely; Had some premium time, didn't want to waste it, so forced myself to keep playing even as frustration built up, but each time it was the same "Drive 100 yards, fire once, explode." Wash, rinse, repeat. After a couple hours of that, I logged out, uninstalled the client, and I've never played WoT again. I do have some great memories though, a few games that still stand out in my mind. Top on the list has to be the time on Abbey when I sent up the battlecry of "Save the TOG!" And not only did I get a resounding reply from the rest of my team, but two of them then took it upon themselves to give me an armed escort right the way across the map, making it perhaps the only time a TOG II has ever made it to the enemy cap circle. But what really sticks out is the sheer gusto to which the team rallied to my joke; honestly, the love for the TOG shown that day brought tears to my eyes.

1 of my most glorious match back then playing as french tier 8 arty, at first it was a slow game as usual but ended with 3 arty vs 3 arty (and 1 afk kv 4 on enemy team) unlike other match that i usually have where 1-2 arty stay and other are spotting, on this one all 6 arty have the same idea to "time for shotgun mode". seeing a artys trying shotgun other artys are just funny especially when u miss and have to running around for reload

Heh, I got a story. I was on El Haluf many years ago, when the Corner of Fail was a hill of fail. Where top tier heavy tanks went to slug it out and get nailed by arty. I was in Glorious KV-2, top tier. I told team "Support me and we shall ride to victory!" And of course, they all started dying. I was outnumbered, trying to hold off good portion of enemy team. I'd killed two, but I couldn't last. All of a sudden, I take a big hit from the rear. A Sneaky M4 got around me and was thinking "Buttsex time!" My gun was pointing in oposite direction and reloading. My back to a 105 howitzer. So, I made the one choice I could... "Driver! Full reverse! (in a russian accent of course). Shifted down the hill, prob going 30 km backwards. Killed the Sherman one hit. And I still lost. That moment made up for it though.

Once, while driving in my Lefh18b2, I was in a one v one with an SU-152. We came acrosss each other, I rushed a shot out, tracked him, but failed to kill him, and the tracking hit didn't put me out of his firing arc. He responded by firing on me as I turned to try to get myself out of his firing arc. *DING* That is the sound of a 152mm AP shell bouncing off the side of an arty. Chat exploded with laughter as I got around him and pumped shell after shell into his arse to finish the match.

The fronts of all Churchills' turrets are flat and not very thick armour. In WoT a KV-2 shell (if it hits there) will easily go through more often than not and oneshot the poor bugger, and IRL it doesn't matter, because these 152mm HE shells were used to basically break tanks in two, no penetration needed. While the rest of the KV-2 is ridiculously better in WoT than it was IRL, its shell is actually underpowered.

Oh god, I loved that end bit! Is our Gnomish overlord feeling a bit testy? As an arty player, a bit of advice: What you see the KV-2 doing at 7:37? That actually doesn't help like most people seem to think it does. It's far more predictable than people seem to think it is, that short of a distance actually moved does nothing to stop me from hitting you (and I *don't* need to compensate for it), and if I do miss it's only because of the inherit inaccuracies built into arty (some SPGs more than others, of course). Even if you move back and forth more than he did, it's still fairly easy to hit you; again, misses are likely due to the SPG's inherent inaccuracy moreso than that predictable movement. You need large movement, and actual randomness to throw off an average arty player; just constantly moving back and forth will not cut it. You can improve odds of not being hit by pairing actual random movement with terrain. I'm not talking a rock just as big (or slightly bigger) than your tank; unless you're very close to me I can generally drop my shells right over the rock and hit you anyway. You would get more cover from a Japanese super heavy, and I would be focusing on them anyway. You need ravines, or hills; being on the other side (from me) of even small hills can make it a bitch to hit you. It never ceases to amaze me how many people forget this in the heat of battle, especially after being hit once or twice by arty already. Although I would like to take this opportunity to thank the World of Tanks players for their habits; when running the campaigns to get those free tanks and the female crew members, the arty missions are always the easiest to complete! As a last thought: FFS, do yourselves a favor and *STOP* clustering together around corners or other choke-points when arty shells start raining down on you! You're just a giant experience/damage/credit pinata for me!

Love the KV-2, have 924 games in it. Managed a Radley's twice in it (two of the three i've ever had) and regularly have good games in it, it's just an all around fun vehicle to play. Felt good after a game yesterday where I somehow penned an O-Ni. Through the front. With HE. Did over 600 damage and killed it. Thought to myself "still got it!". Then I watched this. I miss the days when a KV 2 can fail platoon into tier 10 matches, then proceeds to do better than 70% of their team ... OH! Idea! Hey Jingles, what do you think about this: tell WG to allow KV 2s into tier 10 matches as an extra tank as an alternate version of normal, encounter and assault battles! 16 tanks vs 16 tanks, where the first 15 tanks are the normal tier 8-10s, and the 16 Th teammate is a KV 2 (but the KV 2 has to be fully upgraded with the 152 mm gun, and the KV 2 player has to have at least 300 games in the KV 2 before they are allowed in this alternate battle mode, so the newbies don't give KV 2 a bad name in tier 10 battles). KV 2 gets to play in tier 10 matches, the enemy team gets another tank to shoot at, and the allied team don't lose a tier 8-10 teammate due to the KV 2 being extra, EVERYBODY wins. ( i hope and pray Jingles sees this).

This is actually a good lesson! If you suck at this game and can never pull off good plays, or you feel that you are not contributing enough, the worst thing you can do is rush in and get yourself killed. I see it so often where people just throw their vehicles away! Even if you aren’t able to do anything at a certain time sometimes just being alive is all your team really needs. Just being alive near a teammate may discourage the enemy from pushing in on that teammate. Please people if you want to improve at this game lesson one is not getting killed in the first 2 minutes of the battle!

that end reminded me in a WOWS game I once had the pleasure to be part of. It was a very intense fight, the enemies were holding most of the caps during the better part of the battle, and the only reason we lost was because their last ship alive was the North Carolina who was afk during the whole battle, sitting on the other side of the map, and the timer ran out while the enemies had an advantage in points. I died of laughter that day.

The leFH is now the ONLY SPG that can shoot AP rounds. All the other SPG's were nerfed so they could only fire HE shells, but the leFH still retains its HE/APC/AP loadout, and it makes a rather big difference when you add in fast loading (appx 8 sec) and high accuracy. It also has a decent armor level too. Obviously I play one and love it.

My best game was in World of Tanks Blitz. Bottom tier, 7 on 1, most over half health, a hilly map, I’m on half hp, and I’m in a Tog II. I got the max amount of kills, the confederate, the spartan, the high caliber, steel wall, the Radley Walters medal, the Kolobanov’s medal, I shit you not the scouts medal, and over 8000 damage done, and at the end only 42 hp. I peaked. I will never have a game like that ever again.

AMX 13 F3 is definitely my favourite SPG, I guess I too would drive at KV and try to kill it, or just switch position and fire from some distance, as the one thing that sucks about that arty is insane drop in accuracy when on move. Speaking of view range, I usually have binoculars in arty, comes in handy in the end of the game sometimes, when arty players have to spot on their own.

i had a game in the sherman jumbo were my repair kit was on cool down and a Lefeleferleferlefer tracked me and just kept on damaging and tracking me in place. i went from full hp do dead in 30 seconds and there was nothing that i could do. just to add salt to the wound, it was of of the few games that i was actually top tier. also sometimes just being alive is being more usefull then a lot of my teamates.

don't disrespect the AP in the KV2, my first game in the kv2 with the 152mm equipped, I forgot to change to HE and had the AP shell loaded. came around the first corner and found a M6 staring at me. I auto clicked to aim center mass and fired without a seconds thought, one shot him from full health and he didn't get to fire. that was the moment I forever fell in love with the kv2.

Glorious KV-2! Your question got me thinking. Why do I keep playing WoT? At this point WoT is the online game I've invested a lot of money in. More than any other game. I still can't make myself quit it and lose that investment (also I live in one of those countries where pumping money into video games rustles the jimmies of a lot of people). I'm on a break from WoT though - I found that World of Warships makes my rage and hate almost non-existent.

i got back to world of tanks after a 3 year break.. i used to play ESL tournaments with 2 clans until 2015, but the amount of money and time you spent on this game just didn't seem to be worth it after so many years of playing the game. right now i enjoy getting back into it, just not at that level again. obsessing over stat padding and clan wars just took too much from the game to keep it entertaining (im not saying its not competitive), so i just play my fun tanks like the su-152 with HE rounds or russian heavies

This match was a perfect example of what I say all the time in WoWS. "An afk player is much too often better than an actual player anyways, so there's no point getting mad about them."

Not surprising the KV-2 is high damage player. Good tank and good player. But what is interesting on the opposing team is the Arty and an LT were apparently playing how it should be played. LT spotting and the Arty doing the pounding. I like the Type 64 and love it when it is top damage.
