I've finally uninstalled wot today and i feel so relieved. Every time I was playing it I felt like i was forcing myself to play it, for i had just reached tier 10 and had many tiers 9. I came too far and finally ''enjoying'' benefits of hard grind, because i was now top tier. But that didn't change a thing as i would again rage over extreme influence of luck and matchmaking... then i realized: this game has taken way too much of my life and, just because i reached a line where you start being the sealclubber doesnt mean i need to spend EVEN MORE time. Guys, stop wasting your free time on things that make you angry and just let go... 'i've came so far' can't be an excuse, that way you will never quit wot because you are always coming further. You've already lost too much time and now its time to live your life or just find other games that relax and complete you. Cheers.

QB, in all these tank reviews you use your trained crews and premium consumables to boost the tank performance and I'm always like "Wow, what a game play, what a tank". But I was wondering wouldn't it be more accurate, regarding the tank itself, if you used untrained crews and regular consumables? As we all know the trained crews help the tank performance a lot, but playing a tank with starting crew would really show the tank's pros and cons imo. Even though I do have account in WoT for some time now, I am still an inexperienced player as I don't play that often and sometimes I'm confused if some particular thing I saw is the tank's feature or is it the trained crew (not taking into account your experience and practice)

It had been shown to be a Canadian tanker that shot Whitman's tanks the British tanks were about 1000 to1500 meters away which would not have pen. A group of Canadian tanks were shooting at the German tanks from their flank at about 100 to 300 meter which was more than close enough to pen. No one really new at the time who they had killed until well after the encounter. as for your review, if you can get it for free and stay impartial all the better.

T8 MM is broken, you often land in T10 games. WG tries to make us believe it is the fault of Pref T8 MM which is total BS numbers wise. A T& earns less but can also be played more relaxed in my opinion.

9:10 Challenger is very similar tank to Firefly VC.It's still similar, because the Challenger still can use 17pdr.The 17pdr is better option.The 32pdr has much more pen and alpha, but the 17pdr hase more DPM,no aim time, Leopard 1 or E50M dispersion at 100m and a full 360° of turret traverse limit (the 32pdr only has a 120°).

Tanks. That was very useful. I didnt know that a module that isnt mounted on a vehicle affects it anyway. Cromwells traverse is true only for the stock 410HP engine, while it is 58% better for 650HP engine. So even higher traverse value and better resistances arent enough to make Cromwell B turn better.

Doesn't the Cromwell B also have a different gun than the regular one? *Hmm I actually looked it up but it seems the gun is called the same as the Cromwell's tier 5 gun (75 mm gun MK V) but it has the stats of the tier 6 gun (75 mm Vickers HV). Weird.

snakedogman AFAIK the 75 mk V is the historical gun on several of the British mid-tier tanks, since the Vickers HV was never actually finished. Unfortunately it's essentially just an American 75mm M3, which is the gun criticised on the M3 Lee for having mediocre penetration at tier 4, so to make it competitive they just decided to use the Vickers' stats and the mk V's model and pretend everything was fine.

Usefull preview. I'm just a little disappointed in that premium vehicles are now becoming better than their regular counterparts, with the prime examples of IS3, IS3a, and defender. Tiger 2 still don't get a buff when the cernarvan did, and the top tier german tds are horrible when compared to the 268 v4. Before wargaming decides to add new perms, please reconsider all the tanks being left behind (i really want to have fun in my nashorn again).

Historically. The VC Firefly is an M4A4 Sherman with a Chrysler Multibank engine. It had more horsepower but the engine was a lot heavier. The "standard" Firefly in the game is the IC Hybrid hull. Which if my mind serves me right had a Continental C1 or C4 engine. Lighter but less power. So the ingame stats seem to level out. I used to own an M4A4 Sherman and it's nice to see that hull finally in the game. Something I feel should have been the tech tree tank rather than a late arrival to the "premium piss parade"

The fact that the statistics of the tank are better than the one of the "grind-version" ist pointing towards "pay-to-win". Back in the days i begun to play the game, premium tanks were in most cases similar to the main-tech-tree tanks but a little bit worse, like the t34, T14 and Löwe for example. Ich wouldnt mind if it has the same stats as the normal firefly, just like they did with the KV-2 from Warhammer 40k, give the tank another unique looking skin and leave it like this. The point I want to make is not that the tanks is to strong for its tier and I am well aware that the firefly is not the best tank on T6, but I really dont like that they are implementing tanks, that are better than the normal version, but you have to buy them this real money. That is the definition of "pay-to-win". Because you get a better tanks than the tank you get without paying money.

Just to give some negative examples: T26E4 Partriot: A T32 with better pen, far higher dpm and better armour Obj. 252 U Defender: Just like the IS-3 but better dpm damage and amour. Skorpion G: Just like the Rheinmetall-Borsing Waffenträger but WAY better mobility. And thats something which is driving me crazy. I really love this game, a play it fro almost 7 years buy now and every time they fix some of the issues of the game they create a ton more. Its quiet depressing actually.

CMDR MoD95 The examples you mention are tanks that are not only better than their tech tree counterparts but also better than most tanks of their tier. That is the definition of pay to win, you buy something that enables you to be better than other players. And not only to be better than players driving around in one particular tank. The premium Firefly however is still very mediocre and only marginally better than the tech tree Firefly. If you want to pay to win in a tier 6 medium tank buy a Pudel, Cromwell B, or Rudy. But I agree it is annoying that WG sells practically the same tanks as the tech tree ones with slightly btter characteristics instead of buffing at least the inferior tech tree tanks to match the premium tanks.

As a long time WW2 miniatures wargamer, the Firefly was always one of my favorite tanks because it packs such a punch with the 17 pound gun. I ground up the British medium line and the Firefly was the first Gritish tank I kept even after I went to the next tier. (I have all three Centurions, but not the Aussie premium) I do have the Cromwell B, so since I have both tier 6 mediums, then Wargaming isn't going to be getting any money out of me on this one.

The Sherman Firefly VC really is 0.2 km/h faster than its real life counterpart. Also, since Joe Ekins' unit was about a kilometer away, it was unlikely that he destroyed the Tiger I Michael Wittman was in. The killing blow likely came from a "Canadian non-Firefly Sherman" tank according to Wikipedia which is plausible because the 75 mm gun of the M4 Sherman can penetrate the side of the Tiger I armour.

I love this tank - mostly because it makes points for me instead of loosing them. But more than that, it's British, and just knowing it's a welded hull Sherman makes it a winner in my heart over the composite hull Mk. IC standard tier VI Firefly - even if the composite hull is ballistically better. Personally, I want a variety of configurations for tanks available. Case in point, the Cruiser III and Cruiser IV - I'd like to run them with the 2 pounder (um, premium even) and another tank with Bofors etc, painted up differently. Variety is good.

As a person with 5,000 < Battles In the regular firefly and now an owner of the VC there is one thing I wanted to point out about this tank that I don't think quickybaby did. I noticed that when poking in and out to get quick shots on tanks, that the VC suffers when pulling back due to that poor engine power. It has proven more difficult when hiding behind a wreck and trying to poke and get damage as I take shots backing into cover when this did not happen with my normal firefly. This is not enough to make this tank balanced with the normal firefly, but for those with competitive interests, I believe the regular tank is still better. Hope this helps :D

"Lost" presupposes some sort of independence war that was won by the freedom fighters. In most cases, we just went home. The reasons for this are complex. From the vast mountain of debt we paid back to the USA after WW2 making it difficult to maintain the forces to hang on, to the realisation that national liberation struggles would be springing up all over the empire if nothing was done, to our Post War Labour government being committed to, and having the mandate from the electorate to, end the exploitation of colonial populations. Many reasons for Britain being the only empire in history to take note of the wind direction and shut up shop, rather than fight to the last against the "barbarian" hordes. Empires just weren't fashionable any more.

I have no problem whatsoever with new premium vehicles being better than a regular analog. What we should compare it to is not it's brother, but the general state of current balance. Sherman firefly from a tech tree. Have we seen a lot of them in the random battles? Not much. It is probably not a tank that is very popular, despite 17pounder is quite a potent gun. So maybe it is a bit obsolete vehicle yielded to an inflation of characteristics. Minute buff the VC we got here just makes a bit up for that. The new tank is no way overpowered, it won't break a random battle balance on midtiers. So I am totally ok with it.

Well, the people who are paying for premium account and buy premium vehicles are those who keep all the project running. Effectively paying for the free players to be able to enjoy the game. So when they are paying the real money they could have at least not worse of the vehicle, or even a bit of an advantage. Isn't that fair? And not, it is not Pay2Win. P2W is where you pay money and buy something that gives you a definitive advantage. So you need no skill to overplay someone who is playing for free. Defender is overpowered, that's true. It has 53.62% average winrate and 252U has even 54.06%. Maybe that's why you cannot get one any more. Patriot seems to be almost in balance. Blackdog not that bad? Maybe you mean ELC90? Anyway, the project is financed by donaters. I think unless the premium vehicles do really give them a serious advantage, I am ok with them having a bit of better characteristics. And I am definitely ok with prem having a better stats than non-prem brother if the latter is weak compared to average level.

+Scorpiany The difference between Firefly and Firefly VC is minute. There in nothing like definitive advantage here. There is no point comparing spherical horses in the vacuum. In real battle VC would be statistically higher, but mostly due to the fact that people who are playing prems are usually knowing what and why they are doing and most of regular Firefly drivers are just trying to survive grinding through it. So again, P2W is a situation where you pay the money and expect that you get significant advantage in real games for that money. In this case VC is formally P2W tank, but factually in a modern random where it would play against 150 different vehicle types there is no point whatsoever comparing it to Firefly. Regular Firefly is 5th from the bottom on a winrate among all 25 MT-6. You really like it's slightly buffed version would be _pay_to_WIN_ tank? Not in todays random.

Following that logic, it will be perfectly ok too then if you can purchase shell with higher penetration capability than your standard one using your cash... yes you gotta buy it with your cash. But that's ok because your tank isn't that good anyhow so you are not guaranteed a win just because by paying money you get better stats than what you currently have. So it's ok to introduce guns with better stats than the standard one if they are not the top 5 or top 10 under the excuse that... it's not gonna skew the game too much as the standard one wasn't that great anyhow. And if we extend that logic further... all players on the lower 50% of the server statistic should be allowed to buy flat advantage with their money, oh i dunno maybe give them 5% more damage on everything they use... it's just 5%... no big deal right? and they were not performing well anyhow so this would not be too much of a problem even if they get a bit of an advantage. Does the above... sounds right to you? Because if you ACTUALLY think they are ok, then i cannot believe how warped your sense have become.

Are you about p2w or p2w_the_very_rare_occasion_these_2_tanks_go_1_vs_1_in_decisive_standoff? Regular FF is 5th worst on winrate off 25 MT-6. Regular FF is 8th least played MT-6 off 25, including rare and forgotten ones. How the slightly buffed version would be a pay_to_WIN? P2W tanks must be overpowered compared to contemporary random. Not compared to some obsolete grindable machine it shares name with.

I just bought the basic tank with garage slot for $16.99. I have several British mediums (all with several skill crews) so I just use their crews in this Firefly VC, and for this amount of money I think it is a great value purchase. It works great as a sniper tank and when you are top you can be more aggressive. After five battles I think I have used only two APCR rounds so it makes good credits for tier 6. Already got First Class Mastery Badge. Using Binocs for now instead of Optics, with Vertical Stabilizer and Gun Rammer.

I think an online market place for tanks, their crews, the equipment attached to them, and the camo would be fairly refreshing to the game. Kinda like the CSGO steam market! Players could buy and sell their tanks to and from other players, thereby allowing the price of the tanks to fluctuate naturally

You should have tested if the difference in mobility was noticable by drivin them side by side to certain points on a few maps! Loved the way the handeld the kv2r, sucks to see they didnt continu down that path.

and about it being the tank that killed Michael Wittmann..........Ekins was shooting at tigers from over a kilometer (and that tank was not famous for its accuracy) while at the same time Radly-Walters was shooting at the SAME group of tigers from a distance of less than 400 meters....and a survey of the spot the Wittmann was killed on showed that Ekins didn't have the line of sight while Radley-Walters had

Im actually happy with how they made this tank its actually balanced. Cromwell B is a seal clubbers tank yes its more fun but trying to compare these two tanks is rather difficult as they have completely different play styles

QB, thanks for being transparent. As for your decision, I understand completely. No one has done more for the community than you. So it is about time you reaped the reward for that. But on the other hand I have a very strong sentiment that WG is regarding its customers as cash cows and wants to hush community contributors that point that out. Well for any that wants to know the non-premium Sherman firefly is M4A1 firefly which has 50mm of frontal armor while the premium Sherman firefly is a M4 firefly which would have about 63mm of frontal armor and how i identify the differences between the two Sherman tanks is Turret and Chassis(hull) design- if the hull is rounded like its bubbled like the M4 at tier 5 its a m4a1, while the M4 has a welded plates so the premium Sherman firefly is a M4 SHERMAN FIREFLY

The Firefly scared the tar out of both Panzer and Tiger tank crews alike, it was smaller, faster, and that 17 pounder Mark VII anti tank gun was just as lethal as the Tigers 88MM gun if not stronger, except the Firefly crewman often never had eyebrows from the flashback of the shot.

I think it's kind of fine being a little better then the standard since the standard is free and I do also understand the frustration but they both have perks, the normal Firefly evolves into a Tier VII tank but the Premium lets you train those crews but there is no progression beyond that besides Free Experience.

They're giving you to you, that's a good thing. Maybe the Chieftan mk6 in the future for the new second campaign mission, but that is great for viewers only for you there can be a downside. There is almost no reason to do mission for yourself. I just got a nice Sherman collection, and this one is a bit different so that is cool. :)

No one is sure who killed Wittman . The British were on one side of a ridge and Canadians were on the other. One of the Canadian tank commanders was Sydney Valpey Radley- Walters

Peter Alderson Radley-Walters is confirmed to have killed Whitman. They did a full reenactment of the area where the battle took place back in 2007 and went from there. There's a full documentary about it.

onebigfatguy there was more than one British tank across the ridge not just Ekins . Some of the buildings which were around at the time , this includes the large house destroyed by fire don’t exist now, or trees which weren’t around are now fully grown. In my eyes it was a good documentary but not 100% sure on the kill. It seemed like we will have the Wittman kill and give the other three to the British. Either way all these guys were heroes. I’ve stood next to a Firefly and a Tiger and they must have been brave to come up against one of those beasts and do what they did

This tank has even better gold ammo penetration than a Tiger, even though it is only a medium tank. The fact that this premium tank is better than its tier VI counterpart is not surprising anymore. Thumbs up to QB for calling the spade a spade with regards to the pay to win aspect!

This could mean that they are gonna buff the firefly itself. What I dont get is why they don't do something similar to world of warships. Tie the premium status to a 'paint job' That way you can use whatever tank you like, pay gold for a perma style to put on the tank that gives it premuim status (more credits/exp) same tank, just looks different.

Will, I respect your integrity and your honesty. I appreciate the lukewarm assessment you gave this Firefly VC, especially in view of the fact that it was a gift from Wargaming. I am not concerned at all that Wargaming will be able to "buy" you by giving you new premium tanks to test. So, keep up the good work "roasting" Wargaming and keeping them accountable! ;) Also, I have had a regular Firefly in my garage for some time, and I rarely play it anymore for all of the reasons you list. I was drawn to it because of its legendary history, but disappointed by its lackluster performance. As the Chieftain says, it stood out on D-Day because the Royal Army actually brought their Fireflies and ammunition. The U.S. did not bring their high-velocity 76mm guns and high-performance ammo because the U.S. Army did not think that it needed to. The 17 pounder could not accurately and consistently hit targets, which was why the U.S. Army rejected it, not to mention that the turret interior was almost impossible to work in. History might have been very different if the U.S. had brought their best toys to the fight in June 1944!

man.....when regular firefly got in game I bought it instantly, put permanent camouflage on it , kitted it out with equipment ,retrained (for gold) crew to it, free XP-ed all the modules thinking to myself: now I got a tiger killer.........and then I had my FIRST battle in it.....and OH BOY-lets just say I never again kitted out a tank before a test run

Again, this is a tank that we have in War Thunder for like 3 years, the difference beetwen the standard one and the VC is that the VC has the M4A4 hull with an improved engine i think and an extra armour plate on the right of the turrent right next to the mantlet, compared with the standard one which has the M4A1 hull with a less powerful engine and without the extra armour plate. Yea this are all the differences, at least in War Thunder.

Won't be picking this one up, already have a Bromwell and AC/4 (also adore them). Really really hate that this vehicle is slightly better.
