People get annoyed by something hitting them from the back of the map, it's the same way with carriers in world of warships. Also the stun mechanics. People hate spgs cuz they just lob shells all over without being spotted.

For sure you wouldn't want to be spotted in an SPG. If players were being spotted in a tank with no mobility, armour, etc, no one would play them. And although you are probably right from the viewpoint of the receiving player, when they are firing so slowly they should never be able to hit you, they are worse than a Matilda with a derp gun firing from 400 m away that might also not be spotted.
