I played with a paladin character. When he fell in glorious battle, covering the retreat of his companions in the eastern plaguelands... I deleted the character and created a new death knight. Only one of my friends knew that this was going to happen. So when the character was nowhere to be found (as a friend or anything) they really felt like he died. The re-encounter, a month later (with partial absnesia included), was with crying and screaming. They scolded me in role and out of role XD. But it was worth it because it became part of the history of several of my friends. Stories of devastating loss and painful reunions with long lost companions.

A tip I can provide is if you’re on Moon Guard and looking to tap into some quality RP, look out for the character Elinore Hartwell. She is a very experienced civilian RPer who’s around Stormwind quite often and has connections to A LOT of genuinely nice people. Never a dull moment bar-crawling or relaxing at Lion’s Rest with like 4 other solid characters around

I've played my Gilnean Warrior since I started in Cata. I've honed his story of late to flow with the events of the Worgen attack on the city that the Worgen Starting zone follows, save for a few key differences that include him being found by the Night Elves and Crowley as they start to discover how to soothe the beast's rage. Since Crowley and Greymane's forces united he's been a stalwart guardian of the Alliance, embarking on several campaigns ICly throughout the game's expansions, though sometimes he's more in the faaar back as a few expansions I played out a new main for the expansion.

I've gained some beautiful memories Roleplaying in WoW, drama that at times would transfer to IRL drama (Can't really ever escape this fact) but also good times and events between guilds and other players. Though I remember a time where the cities in both Alliance and Horde (Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord respectively) where full of life and Roleplayers going at it in the streets, Inns, Cathedral, etc. Now a days its somewhat barren, but we as a community can change that some day maybe.

Shaman do not need special training seen by kalterens (not sure if spell their name rights) see with quest unlock them as a race for alliance like we meet a Shaman with no training just can call on elements. (Same with Priest because Light power go to whoever believes in their goals)

Not necessarily. And you definitely won't get in trouble for not. I would say a majority of role players land in the casual camp and are completely fine with characters Just talking like normal people. There are niche hardcore rp guilds that will expect you to do that. But there's an addon called "tongues" that lets you set what accent you want your character to have and will actually edit the text you type to better fit that accent. Super useful for dwarfs so you don't have to slow down typing all the extra apostrophes.

@@rikardlinden6800 eh, it depends how hardcore of an rp group you roll with I guess. Back when I used to rp, people generally just didn't like people using artifact weapons and some mythic armor sets. But with how flashy wow has gotten with its cosmetics I'm not sure if that's the case anymore.

Hey guys. I play ascension and I think with enough ppl they could make a rp server. Ascension is classless so you can litterally be Dark Ranger, Vampire, Pirate or a lumber jack. You could even choose to be "factionless".The team really did a good job and I think with more ppl they would make it better. You can even be a spartan with a spear and sword. Try it out !

I can support his claim. Rp in moonguard is a heavy alliance server while Wyrmrest is a heavy horde server. At least for the moment.

It really depends on the group that youre Roleplaying with I feel. The average walk up roleplay is very casual and more for fun, but there are guilds that deal with intricate noble house drama, wander theater groups, capital city guards, entire guilds that will only RP as the staff of certain establishments. I feel like it lacks alot of tools to really make things your own, such as guild/player housing which is big reason Im very attracted to ffxiv rp, but have struggled to find a solid group to stick with.

I'd probably be a gnome mage (abilities flavored as gnomish devices) who survived the attack on Gnomeregan. The troggs and radiation drove him from his prized workshop and laboratory, so he is helping in any way he can to aid the Alliance and the gnomish race in the hope that he may one day reclaim what he has lost.

Thanks for this guide. No offense to anyone but wow lore is pretty lame and I regret rolling on a RP server in classic. Turns out it's not really my thing, since it feels like the community is a bit more immature than on other servers, but idk. TBH as an experienced WoW role-player, it's pretty obvious that your not all that experienced in WoW roleplay. Not to say your completely inexperienced with RP, but some of your advice was just silly. on a RP server the vast majority of ppl are using TRP. The names people want are often taken along with every character map option. This is just one of example of something any experienced wow RPer would know. I've heard Alliance for Moonguard, and wyrmrest from horde, this isn't wrong, but the fact that you had to qualify it makes me think you don't really have a good gauge of RP servers either.

@@leinonibishop9480 I take on new RPers at least a couple of times a week on my guild. I'm more than happy to show new people the ropes, give them time to develop and grow on their own. However, if another guild member was acting as if they were an expert Rper and giving unsound advice to new Rpers, I would likely say something about it. Something of a false equivalency to to infer that I wouldn't be new Rper friendly because I commented that a person who is acting as if they were an authority on a topic seemed to have some obvious holes in their knowledge on subjects that are well known even to fairly new Rpers.

@@leinonibishop9480 It sounds like you went pretty deep into the barrel with assumptions. There is no "right way" to RP besides the type of RP you enjoy. That doesn't mean new people often don't ask for advice. And when I don't know the answer, or am not well versed on the topic, I say so. Which is what I'm being critical of here. It's not productive or helpful to project what you perceive to be a "nightmare Rper" on people that disagree with you, and follow it up with dramatic hyperbolic comments like "I would avoid you at all costs." It's childish and unbecoming.
