Funny enough the moment to moment combat and targeting in wow is the main reason people dislike swapping to other mmos, because it's super responsive and intuitive, especially when you want to apply certain debuffs / cc to a specific target.

Combat is why I always come back. You simply cannot go anywhere else in the genre and find as smooth a combat system. I play FF14 as well as GW2 and I always end up back because I simply miss the shorter GCD and the clean feel that wow combat gives.

If tab targeting is a problem there is a change for that in the settings now that allows you just to target whoever you are looking at

I am grateful that I got this video in my feed, thanks for not complaining about WoW completely disregarding the success. I would like to ask you a question though, instead of tab targeting what else would even be a better system? Personally, I agree in the sense that it is annoying especially in PvP it will tab target to pets and minions which is not very ideal. Anyways, thanks.

Hi Willie 👋, I mentioned I would prefer action-combat or hybrid. Because tab targeting only requires you to target without the need to strategize aim or timing in certain directions, it will always be less skill-oriented than the other two. As a result, things like class imbalance, gear, or any other determinant will play a far larger role than your actual skills. In addition, because you can't use a lot of your skills without targeting, you also can't improvise too much on your own. For example, if my opponent has stealth or teleportation, in tab targeting, I can't combo until I can see and target him, but in action combat and some hybrid, if I see through his patterns, I can just time my combo where I think he will re-appear within a mere second. You just have far more control over your character, granted it is more difficult so it may not appeal to a lot of people.

i never experienced such smooth gameplay mechanics as in WoW. It just fits for my kind of playstyle. tried many other games the last years but always go back to WoW because the gameplay system is just right for me

Try the game play on trial thats free, play each class to level 20 which is cap for free accounts, then tell me you don't like its tab targetting, even if you have played other games with it they don't compare to the buttery smooth responsiveness and the interactions of the different skills. Anyone can pick up and play its designed that way but to master it now thats a different story.

WoW's social features compared to FF14 really pale in comparison. If Warcraft truly wants to be the king of MMOs the game needs unlockable emotes and built in player profiles

WOW is the king of MMOs because within the last few years, I'm pretty sure it's still making the most profit and given the game is 2 decades old and it has no reason to be concerned about anything. If I was WOW, I would want someone to dethrone me because I've been sitting on the throne for too long.😆

Warcraft is king of the MMOs and has been for 20 years. Saying FF14 is a better game is irrelevant whilst WoW is still the dominant game on the market by quite a large degree.

I'm not saying those things being added wouldn't be neat but most of us that play wow (aside from a few high pop rp servers) simply don't really care about things like that. The combat is why we are playing. The combat is what keeps us coming back. I have multiple capped jobs on FF14 and have played since ARR launch. I come play the story then I go back to WoW for actual PvE progression.

If WoW rips off, say ESO's housing system and improves upon it, it's over. Essentially the only reason at that point to a) play and MMORPG while b) not playing WoW will be out of loyalty, sunk cost commitment or love of a franchise that is stronger than the acknowledgement that WoW has just won the genre. They're the WWE of MMOs: Often dirty while also being corporately sterile, but unquestionably the defining brand in its genre. They also don't necessarily need *your* money because they're an unstoppable juggernaut so long as they develop in the direction that their telemetry and metrics, not necessarily their voiced feedback tells them. See Delves: WoW group PVE that will be absolutely divorced from the toxicity of random players, their damage meters and insane standards for each other. You play them with friends or play alone, just like follower dungeons.

WoW only survives because plenty of players simply refuse to let go their absurd amount of collective years and money invested in the game. Nowadays every successful MMO has better and more modern mechanics, gamemodes, graphics and combat. WoW is just there because Blizzard+Millennials refusing to let go.

There are far better games. if City of Heroes expanded on their travel physics it would have dominated WoW more than it already has. The only thing WoW is competing with is it's own bad gamers that don't know what a good game is because they are goosed so far up WoW's butt that they don't know better games exist.

Wow is awful but everything else is awful too. The whole genre hasn’t improved in decades. Everquest was honestly better at its peak but failed to stay up to date.
