I don't. I would prefer more stuff to do. The only thing that begs any questions on the island is the rune locked chest. Those were created by mardhiva an ancient night borne sorceror that lived in service of queen azshara to teach magic and invent things. Why is it there? Why is there only one? How did it get there? Sure the island might have, at some point, been a part of the nelf empire, but it's on the same level and elevation as the emergent crystal we find on the surface. Siren Isle is really far away from Mardhiva's laboratory. But it is the same arcane lock and using it transforms you into mardhiva just like those in nazjatar. There are no nelf ruins in the surrounding waters. Was Mardhiva here at some point to analyze the crystal? There is no context or explanation given. It's also the only one on the isle so far. There are no signs of nelf stuff anywhere at all discounting, by extension, the warring naga tribes disaffected from Azshara who abdicated her throne afaik. So what is mardhiva's unique invention doing on the siren isle? And so far away from the well of eternity and most importantly, Nazjatar, where Mardhiva lived and taught magic? I honestly think this is one of those things that COULD be interesting but absolutely will get no explanation and blizz just put it there so there would be a fancy locked chest for people to open.

I'd rather actually just be /told/ a story I can enjoy, and not have to rummage around in the back of caves, trying to decipher whatever abstruse collection of stuff Blizzard sprinkled in there. Worldbuilding is nice and all, but it should be the garnish of top of the meal, not the main course. You can't just hand someone a plate of parsley and call it dinner.

I liked the island lore, but that was sadly only 30-35 minutes max. The music on the island was very fitting with the lore and I like that the mount actually has a background story. However, gameplay wise, the island is small and boring. The Lingering Shadows was also extremely short, unexpectedly boring with boring characters. The ring, sadly, is currently pretty weak and disappointing since the ilvl is time-gated and not all gems are available.

What does the length have to do with it? The way they out everything together to tell the story of sirens isle is some of the best storytelling they've done in ages. I do hope we see more quests unlock here, and you can argue the gameplay loop is simple, but I think it's supposed to be. This island is for a little chunk of story, some basic activities and rewards, and to work up to the ring, which will be good onve we get more gems. It's not supposed to replace m+ or raid, or delves. It's a supplement

This is the main reason I play games, exploration and discovery! In fact, while rewards are nice, frankly the game's sick with mounts at this point and gear is just okay. But, if my mount has a story I uncover unlocking it, and the ring has like a sea ghost or something that talks to me every time I reach a new level? Now I have reason beyond just numbers to get the things!

We used to more story, a mega dungeon, and a half patch raid. We are actually getting less than we used to get. Nazjatar and Mechagon came in the patch after the Shrine of Storms half patch mini raid, and mechagon shipped with Operation Mechagon mega dungeon and then the patch after that opened the way to Azshara's palace. This isn't a unique thing either. Broken Shore shipped with mage tower and Tomb of Sargeras. Argus came with the completion of the narrative story line and Antorus. Not to mention the Odin raid in a half patch and Return to Karazan and M+. Discounting WoD a nd going back to pandaria we got 3-4 new islands with Thundering Isle coming with one of the most beloved raids up to that point to kill the thunderking and adding mythic raiding i believe in that patch. I'm not gonna get all into pandaria because all the zones like siren isle and korthia are just Timeless Isle 7.0 but somehow even more boring with lamer rewards. Going back to cataclysm we got the molten front offensive which was grindy but had a really good story and played into the narrative that leads to us storming the fire lands to kill rag and his minions. I still rock my flamebreaker title but i would never do that grind ever again. The rewards from this were much better too barring the rng from caches for a few collections items being terrible. And before that we had the smaller like 10 man raid in Highlands and before that we had vash jir and throne of tides with a cut raid but we also got kazan and a full world rework that brought old zones into the new world making the quests relavant content again with competitive rewards (there were some losses like riding crop tho.) I will admit that Argent Tournament and Netherwing Drake farming and Shattered Sun Offensive in Quel'Delanas were very super lame and boring but we also used to get way more dungeons and way more raids back then. Siren Isle is better than korthia I'll give it that. I hated korthia so much that I actually managed to avoid doing it until I had to, to go to zerith mortis.

I've run out of things to do on the isle besides grind currency and kill mobs for runestone fragments. It's only a .5 patch and historically those have been a bit lack luster. Overall I really liked the feeling of the Isle and actually spent time to look around at the scenery and put the story together for myself, which was a lot of fun. I just wish it had gone on longer. That being said its definitely a good thing when some WoW content leaves me wanting more and not just wishing to have it be over with.

As an Orc, I find it incredibly off-putting when quest NPCs keep sending me back to "report to Alleria." Gazlow, regarding Gallywix's return, sends me to "report to Alleria." A Horde leader sends me, an Orc, to an Alliance leader to report on the return of an ex Horde leader. 🙄

Let's race for Azurite vs lets race for this random crystal? How is the carved panels not a lore dump? Who wrote them, why are they inside the tomb? You're going to compare the lore written inside the location, to Elden Ring / Dark Souls, where people years later are still trying to piece together the story? This is just like everything else, it has never been mentioned before but now it's the most important thing ever. You know what made the Old Gods a cool story, they had prophecies and only bits of the story fleshed out a little every time.

This game delivers 2/10's so regularly that it makes a 4/10 feel like a 9/10. It's the TL:DR version of the forbidden reach and anytime i try to engage with the new lore tablets im harassed by hyper spawns. It's a catch up patch that doesn't actually catch you up, it starts irrelevant. They say you miss every shot you don't take so blizzard decided to replace the ball with an anchor.

Yeah, if you're all into reading everything and line graphing story elements and actually sitting there taking time to give a damn about the words coming out of character's mouths like a FF XIV player type, then yeah this will make you happy. On the other hand if you're clicking exclamation marks then dragonzipping to the spot highlighted on the map to click the question marks and completely ignoring everything but how much your gear score goes (or doesn’t go) up, like admittedly most of us do most of the time, then it's 45 min a week. The best way I can describe the Siren Isle so far is that it’s like a really well-prepared peanut butter & jelly sandwich. Consumable, enjoyable at the time, but not particularly memorable. Unless the story of the zone advances the expansion’s larger story in a big way, I don’t think many people will remember this patch as anything but filler in six months. To call it a world building masterclass is over-polishing it.
