And if they like to snipe at long range not so much. The scoring would be even more interesting if it was based on how many ships above the opposition you have. If you have 1 ship more than the opposition you get the standard points. Two more it doubles. Then maybe the people who hang back would get off of their backsides
@FunandGameswithTerry4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. That said, I've played this successfully in the Nagato - it's often about pushing / keeping someone out of a cap, and any cruiser will think twice about trying to dislodge our DD from the centre while being under flanking fire from BBs. One aspect people seem to miss frequently is that the circles are concentric, and you can be "in the cap" at any side.

@@FunandGameswithTerry I am assuming that you can only be in one cap circle at a time. If you are straddling the line with your bow in one and your stern in the other you are most likely counted as in the inner. But what if it's both. And as I stated above if you have 2 ship advantage in one of the circles you get double points. The same could apply to any of the Center Control maps. That could make things very interesting. If Wargamings servers can handle the situation of a Respawn they should be able to handle that.
@mpetersen64 жыл бұрын
@Jack Jones That may be. But like I said. If your going to lose anyway try and take some of the bastards with you. When I play as a dd I know my job in a center or domination game is to rush the cap or the one closest to me. And scout. Unfortunately that comes with a risk. The risk is getting deleted if you run into a buzzsaw. I was playing one of the domination games today and myself (Clemson) and the enemy dd (Acasta) crossed into the cap at the same time. He smoked up and went undetected. Unfortunately he had two cruisers and a BB behind him. The cruiser who should have been backing me up hung back almost the whole game. I spent the little time I had left dodging torps and HE. The cruiser on my team. Under 10,000 points and no kills. Also today I tucked into one of the islands on Golden Channel. I was playing a BB. I tried to reposition and could not move. I wound up getting pushed by the dd into a wall of torps from a tier 7 dd. The dd that was pushing me ran up a whooping 365 damage points.

I love epicenter... But only in a DD. The love is inversely proportional to ship size!!🤣 Getting behind that center island with a Benham makes it reasonably easy to keep the center, but you still need either team support, or an incompetent enemy team. I find myself firing a lot of torps as a deterrent, rather than a direct attack, but it often works!!
@bigtunablitz68254 жыл бұрын
Same. It's hard for me to waste torps but I think this is the best strat for this map in dd
@iceberg92484 жыл бұрын
You will be surprised, but you can take the center cap with a cruiser. DDs have a psychological aversion and are pushed out just by you being there. Of course, you are candy for all BBs. But if you can angle and survive, you can do wonders for your team

Without chat I can't communicate with my team. My strategy is for the DDs to rush center, and battleships and cruisers capping the outer first and making a defensive angled line in the middle. But I have battleships trying to go to the next map and destroyers trying to take a scenic photo of the battle.
@mpetersen64 жыл бұрын
How do you enable chat anyway. I lost a game last night because we had the lead in points and ships with 1:30 to go. I kept hitting the Fan Out button but no. The two destroyer players had to be Glory Hounds. Well they both wound up getting sunk and I lost on points two ships to one at the 1 second mark by 2 points I think. Next game I rushed the enemy cap circle scored no points and got the win for the team. And got a whole 3 trophies for my efforts 🙄
@FunandGameswithTerry4 жыл бұрын
As in all modes, being on a division with voice chat can be hugely beneficial, but with random players, it's hard as usual, especially that the cap situation is very fluent - it's not like you can say "cap A & B" at the opening stage, and then see how things go, but it's a constant effort of keeping an eye on how many ships are in a ring, which one is safe, and which one can be taken over.

For epicenter I push with carriers, stay inside the outer ring, behind cover, I’m not completely insane. But I’ve only done it with indom, and punish the enemy battleships like Roma and Amagi for sitting in the circle. I’ve also noticed that if you have that team that will mad dash a battleship into the center circle, it’s normally a 50/50 because the battleship that runs in like an idiot becomes a martyr as the kill hungry people will focus them, giving you time to change position and move up. Me personally, I’ve seen that if all your teams battleships are the great at long range bad short range and vice versa, normally does not work, both Bismarcks, Tirpitz, either Bayern work really well if you have a great long range battleship to support

@FunandGameswithTerry4 жыл бұрын
That's what I enjoy about this map tbh. Yes, the centre cap is important, but if you hold the outer two, you'll still have a higher points income. It's not as static as I was fearing, but you can do a lot of things to "dislodge" enemy players due to the circular nature, you can move between rings quickly, you can take positions on the side of the rings rather than on your spawn side, you can take rings away by simply having one more ship in them...

@@FunandGameswithTerry Then why are they even playing the game*. These are the same people who are either at almost full health in the last 30 seconds. Or the ones that are the last one standing on their team, going to lose the match and run and hide. You don't get any extra credit for surviving with a few exceptions in awards. If you are going to loose anyway at least try and take one more more down with you. It won't help your win percentage. But it might help your average damage rate. *And that's what it is. It's a freaking game. It isn't life or death. In a way those players who display a timid play style are more annoying than the really good players who make a habit of go seal clubbing in low tier games. If they have a win rate of 60% or more what are they proving by slipping down to lower tiers besides that they can farm damage and trophies. I'm at best a mid tier player*. And I recognize it. I admit I do slip into Tier 1 games on occasion. Mostly if there is a Daily or Weekly mission that requires you to sink x number of cruisers. And i do enjoy the occasional shoot-em up. But i do not go out of my way to kick sand in the faces of the clueless. *My current win rate i think is a little under 48%. Part of that is my fault. And part of that is playing at Tiers 4 to 6 mostly. I get far too many battles with casual or lazy teammates. But I basically refuse try ships above Tier 7. The only T7 I have is the Schatnhorst. And that's because I couldn't resist the current sale. The reason I stay away from top tier ships is my reflexes simply aren't good enough any more.

Love this map when it appears, & I happen to be in a fast DD. In a flammable BB or CL, I hate it. You did a superb job capping the 2 inner circles & surviving the game. What do you think about grabbing the center or middle ring in a knife fighting BB? I’m thinking Bismarck or Colorado.
@FunandGameswithTerry4 жыл бұрын
BB in the centre is very prone to crossfire, and you don't have the dpm that you get from a torpedo boat. A lot of focus is given to the middle, and I agree that it's important, but even more important is to keep an eye on which rings your team is holding, and where you can grab rings. I'd be mobile in e.g. a Bismarck, and see where I can push enemy ships out of rings.

You're right. Nobody wants to get deleted right away. Especially in league play. The higher the Tier the bigger the ding on your trophies. It kind of sucks to have hardly any points and be the first one sunk. Haven't played Epicenter much but if your teammates hang back. Well then you might as well go down swinging because you are going to lose.

When playing this map you really have to push the caps HARD. One potential problem is if you are in a slower DD or BB. But the problem is it's a crap shoot if this map is going to come up. If it does come up then you really need to have the fastest ships in the game. With all the speed boosts loaded in equipment and captain's skills. Spawning location can make a difference too. But even then if your team is really hesitant you are going to be way down on points really fast. If the opposition floods the cap circles and hides skillfully you are screwed. Admittedly I haven't played this map much. I'm usually playing Tier 4 through 6. And the only way it seems that you wind up in Epicenter is in Tier 7 games and up. This could be entertaining as all in a Tier 1 game. Those are just shoot 'em ups anyway When you were shooting at the Trento and West Virginia I noticed an enemy ship on you left side doing zip. OK the BB and DD took him out. Also, if you are straddling the boundry of the rings are you in the inner most, the outer one or both. If both the might be a useful tactic. But I suspect it's just the inner. Sorry for the long post
@FunandGameswithTerry4 жыл бұрын
It's more than just speed though, because it's still a domination map - first cap helps, but getting more ships into a ring is what counts in the end. Given how close the rings are, you can often take positions around the centre ring and then switch as needed, while maintaining angles at the centre, especially in cruisers, making DD lives difficult
