I initially felt that this ship was a bit of a let-down from the Fushun, but have since gotten used to her, and I'm severely enjoying myself.

it happens sometimes - that's one thing I love about the deepwater torps, they're quick & they hit hard. Things like the Yudachi can one-shot an almost full health Bismarck.

This is absolutely a good ship. At least for me. It fits my playstyle like a glove. You can be stealthy, or aggressive and the guns are quite good. It took a little getting used to the Gadjah, especially the deep water torpedoes. Yes, I have made the mistake and torpedoed a destroyer.... Oops... Lesson learned! 😀 Thank you for this video about the Gadjah Mada. Keep up the good work.

You didn't mention one fairly unique feature that to my knowledge is only shared with the Konisberg. The rear turret on the Gadjah Mada does a full 360. This is fantastic when you're nose in you can swing either way and quickly have the rear turret available without it having to turn all the way around.

I know, I totally missed that - never paid attention to it. Her turret layout is definitely a strong point. I'll have to pay more attention to that next time :)

I really like this ship! A tier 7 destroyer with 10 “deep water” torps, good guns, and good concealment! I really enjoy playing the Mada or aka Tjerk Hiddes!

Hi Terry. As always a pleasure to watch your videos. Thx for the effort...much appreciated. I absolutely agree that the Gadjah Mada is a very good ship. I was dissapointed at first, as you were that it wasnt a Fushun on steroids ;-) . However I soon realised that I did just as well in her as in the Fushun winrate wise. When using guns I really like that I dont have to show broadside, so im very hard to hit, while still doing fair dmg with the 2 front turrets, and even all guns with a little angel. The good thing is that the rear turret is 360° turning, so its possible to quickly switch sides if you need to wiggle a bit... thorougly recommend this ship...and line..the Hsienyang is also a very good ship.

I didn't even notice that about the rear turret, but yes, once it clicked for me how to use the gun arrangement to my advantage, I definitely became more successful. The other switch was that in the Fushun, I'm used to driving all torps home, but in the Gadjah, I'll pretty much always miss a couple - but that's ok, I just use the guns more. Usually doing about 20k dmg with just guns, plus fires.

lol - we win some, we lose some. I was lucky to be in the right ship a the right time, and it's always good if you can draw BB fire in a DD. It shows the sheer versatility of these ships - you can dance around at spotting range, ship in reverse, forward turrets firing, but almost impossible to hit even for multiple BBs if you time their salvos right. Disengage at will, stealth torp, and then do it all over again. If the Brooklyn had been sticking with the BB group, that would have been a whole different game.

I’ll use torps on DDs, even if the other DD player knows they won’t hit they usually flinch. Surprisingly a lot of people dont realize deep water torps won’t hit DD, or don’t recognize how to tell if they’re deep water, because I chase off a lot of DDs with torps when disengaging or trying to deny an area.

Terry, I don't have the ship yet. I am still on fushun but what I would recommend is play the PA DDs like you would have played the Japanese torp boat line. Use your guns only after you're sure your torps are going to hit, otherwise if you start shooting as soon as you see the player, if the player is intelligent enough he would turn away or decelerate because of which he won't eat your torps. Also use the smoke as your get-away card. At least this is how I play the Japanese torp line and also the fushun

That's one thing I like the PA DDs for - they're versatile. I stealth torp on occasion, but I also really like using the guns, and the layout of the Gadjah, with two turrets forward, can make that really effective. The Fushun is a Gnevny-class, so basically a gunboat by design. I just like having the capability to do both things (and I'm playing aggressive, on the reckless side, usually). You can also "bait" a reaction by pretending to drop torps when spotted, wait for them to employ countermeasures, and then drop them :)

PA dds, while having decent guns, if the enemy is not a full torpedo potato, or knows that it has guns, the PA dd/s will not win a gunfight against it, especially if it’s a German destroyer. German dds are known for its powerful AP that shreds destroyers very fast and their hydro makes them capable of detecting torps and the ship in smoke.

That's a really difficult question to answer this globally. It depends a lot on what tier you're comfortable with, what purpose you're getting it for (captain trainer / resource grind / unique or different ship), which class you prefer to play, how much money you want to spend etc. Tier 8 is probably the sweet spot when it comes to resource grind, although again, you need to be comfortable at that tier (premiums don't give you OP powers, it's still 95% skill). There are some excellent premium tier 8 battleships out there - Richelieu is very definitely worth it (also quite unique), Tirpitz as well, the Alabama isn't half bad either, Roma, of course. If that's a bit too pricey (these things cost as much as a full top-line PC or console game), there are some good BBs around mid-tier as well, like the Warspite, Agincourt, or the Richelieu's little sister, the Dunkerque. When it comes to cruisers, the Graf Spee stands out a bit in terms of being unique, the Yubari at tier 4 is definitely the sealclubber's weapon of choice, and the Belfast is said to be an excellent ship. Mogami, if you like IJN cruisers, is a good choice for a premium, and there are a couple more. When it comes to premium DDs, I quite like the Yudachi (the original deep water torps) and the Sims, as well as the Hill at tier 5, but I don't know if she's on sale anywhere. Lastly, you can get premiums by playing the game, from the shipyard, collection events (there are usually some lower-tier ones up for grabs), free XP (Nelson) and so on. If you limit the choice a bit (e.g. tier range you're comfortable playing, and ship class you're into), I might be able to narrow down the recommendations somewhat :)

I don't know - I didn't like her at first, due to the low-calibre guns and the overly wide torp spread, and I still maintain that the Fushun is probably the better ship, even at tier 7, but I'm quite enjoying myself by now. Playing her a lot more aggressively than I used to, and using the guns a lot more. Looking forward to tier 8.

it's not just bots, unfortunately, but they seem to have a tendency to remain locked on. WG is working on fixing the smoke bug, AFAIK.

@@FunandGameswithTerry I think the bug is only with bots. Do not worry, even in pc there is a problem like this. But it may not be a bug at all, and just a feature. Bots don’t care about your concealment. Also, approaching too close to an enemy setting a smoke screen will make the enemy spotted.

I will tell you my setup for Maya it is mean battery traverse speedsteering gear modification to and proportion modification one because I need to maneuver because heavy cruiser but I have unpleasantly found out that the maya tubes are very valuable get knocked your guns are ok but your torpedoes are the best and the Maya is very good a just do not show broadside to a Battleship I love the Maya it is my favourite ship

I really don't like golden channel cuz most of team I met allergic to cap :/ and they start flanking and they sunk one by one leaving me alone :v most of times

Same...Most of the BBs just park broadside outside the cap circle and snipe across the map

I know, it can be a bit jarring at times (I really need to make a video about that map again). Flanking can be very useful, but it depends what ship - DDs grab & contest the cap, BBs tank at baseline, CAs and battlecruisers roll up the flanks, if possible. I'll try to do something educational :)

From my experience I met many heavy tanking BB like Colorado or North Carolina ( ya gotta be kiddin me 🤣) try to flank to other side And then sunk by enemy DD or the match near over when they got to the other sides barely do anything. oh mi 😆 My most hilarious experience was everybody start flanking in the beginning of battle (I was using scharnhorst). I was like “okay flanking strategy”but not long everyone start to sunk one by one from DD to cruiser to BB from top to bottom. Me”( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ... Are you guys serious” Lol If you have time to make video on golden channel, yes please. I would really appreciate it :D

my favourite "special" on the Channel is when our BBs try to find their way into the next map by going around the outside islands. Flanks, even when they're not pushed, need to be held - I can do sooo much damage if I'm allowed to make my way around the side, especially in a DD. Ah, Scharnhorst... one ship I've had for ages and haven't nearly played enough. Reminds me, I still need to review that one as well! :) Anyway, yes, will definitely make a vid about that map, it's been on my list for a while.

Fun and games with Terry nevertheless golden channel is my least favorite map but can be engaging and hilarious too XD Awesome I would love to watch more Scharnhorst video since she is one of my favorite German ships 🥰 And there’s new German premium cruiser Mainz. If you haven’t know yet. They said she looks like Hipper but with Nürnberg guns and with rapid reload. I could guess She will be new nightmare for DDs and Cruisers 😁 (maybe) If have change to play her, I would love to see your review on her and if possible benham too :) Sorry if I asked too much. IDK, I think it was influenced by coming from the Fushun. I still maintain that I'd win a gun duel against a Gadjah in that, but I've also won gun duels against Bensons or Leberecht Maas - it always depends on the driver. Quite liking the ship by now, even if the broad torp spread means I usually don't hit all of them home.
