I loved listening to Flambass's commentary on this - basically from start to end it was "this is never going to work." This was one of the most incredible replays I've seen for a while, finished perfectly- sandwiched between a Monarch and a Kutusov and some how survived and killed them both with! Anyway... Akshuwly Jingles - Lightning is Tier 8, he wasn't capping when the bismark was fighting the Richeleau (the enemy was capping at the other end of the chanel). Monarch has 15 inch guns (it was a proposed design for KGV) click bang!

I was also inspired to dust off the Emerald. The British cruisers seem to be a step behind their counterparts in a tier in bow and stern armor - large slow awkward destroyers. My game was "domination" with one destroyer per side, so I played destroyer to CAP. Then made the mistake of trying to defend the CAP. Destroyers can sometimes do that, but the Emerald is just too big a target. There are several channels that give detailed instructions on how to play a ship or class, but I find just watching Flambass play does a lot more good. (More often the Minotaur.) How to use terrain and smoke, stay away from radar etc.)

The Leander is such an undervalued ship, it's consistantly able to punch above it's weight time and time again. Underestimate this ship at your peril, I actually prefer her to the Fiji. Yes you loose 4 guns but you are a considerably smaller target to hit, more agile, more torpedoes and far stealthier. And Jingles she's one of few British CLs where the citadel is not above the waterline so that's another plus 1 in her favour. A truly fantastic ship, I have become a firm believer in the Church of Leander and the miracles she often performs. :-)

Saw this on Flambass's KZbin channel, and was waiting for it to come around. Good to see a positive Flambass rant. There was a fair amount of luck here, but Flambass can generally capitalize even on bad luck. The Brits spent too much time hanging out in the Far East, where they make such wonderful things out of paper - lanterns, room dividers and the like. But there are limits - even light cruisers ought to be made out of actual metal, maybe even steel. You have to compensate for fragility with the compensating smoke and hydro, and Flambass is a master.

Ah Jingles, your videos wouldn't have that same Jingles flavor if there wasn't at least one glaring error that you make when describing a particular ship's traits, abilities, stats, etc. lol. The Italian cruisers are the ones that fire SAP rounds, while the in game descriptions, wiki stats, etc. for the British cruiser line all describe them as firing standard AP rounds. The video of yours that I watched just before this was the one where you described the Prinz Eugen as a tier 7 cruiser haha, never change Jingles. I also love the fact that Jingles clearly understands how this game should be played, how to break down what plays and decisions a player is making while commenting over a replay, and what moves to make in certain ships or in certain gameplay situations etc., but as soon as you put Jingles behind the controls himself he plays like it's his first ever round in a battleship lmfao.

No, this isn't an "actually Jingles" moment, as this video was made when SAP isn't really a thing yet. ~Italian~ Pasta ships and the SAP unqiue to the ~Italian~ pasta ships out on patch 0.8.9, which is 7 to 8 months after this video is posted. It's probably announced 1 to 2 months before the launch, but it would still be after this video is posted that the actual SAP shell type is announced. and it wasn't wrong and/or unusual at the time for people to call those British AP shell SAP at the times, as its unique AP auto-bounce angles (60-75 degrees as opposed to the standard 45-60 degrees on most ships), lower than par AP pens (admittedly at the times the only real comparison for the British light cruisers' AP is T6s or lower cruisers, other british cruisers, and mogami 155 which does have better AP pen), AND lower than usual AP fuse time (0.005s as opposed to the usual 0.033s on most ships or 0.010s/0.025s on other light cruisers) meant that to most people the British AP shell performed like it's in between AP and HE. So yeah, he wasn't exactly wrong then. Now, OFF TO SALT MINES YOU GO! (Side note: the fuse time and auto-bounce angles are why British CL AP are so devastating to destroyers, as it makes sure that if DD even a bit of broadsides, they will get pen, and if they are flat broadsides, the shell won't overpen respectively.
