Hello and welcome once again everyone, the new ranked battles is now in full swing with the ship featured being a very strong pick indeed, the tier 10 pan european destroyer Smaland. This game was from the qualification process from Silver to Gold league and shows what a real dpm monster this ship can become. You're normally great at pronouncing the foreign ships so here is a tip: the "Smål" should be sounding like the word "small" in English. After all you can say Öland and Skåne almost like a Swede so lets get the big daddy of the Swedish DD's right as well :-)

2 million free Xp is just too much to pay for most people in any case. I would love to own one though. Looks like a Friesland with Halland torpedoes.

It's a lot of free Xp I do admit but in the right hands it really is an incredible ship

The torpedoes are not as good. They are 12 km torps instead of 15 km and the speed of the torps while fast (sixty something) are not as fast as Halland torps which can reach 90 knotts.

@@VuHien2011 I'd say they are quite good though. While you do get only 12km to the Halland's 15km range, that range is in nearly all cases not doing you any good, as torping from beyond 12kms is usually a fool's errand. Personally I try to torp as close as possible, unless I am only able to attempt a long range drop, for instance against an entrenched Soviet cruiser (at which point, 12 km is plenty). You are right on the speed though, although to slightly make up for it (80 knots is still insanely fast btw), the torps have much lower detection radius so there's that. The most notable difference is that you get 2 torps less, but that's really al there is to it in the grand scheme of things.

It’s strong but it’s not that strong. All you need is to make sure your team is ready to shoot it on spotting, and don’t commit so hard to cap that you can’t escape. The radar is very short, you just need to adjust your play style a little when you see Smal on the roster. I’ve beaten lots of smalands in my Daring with those two basic adjustments.

Ridiculous politics about retiring ships. Started 9 months ago, cannot get even half in time. So older players will always be in advantage.
