Finally, a good PB. There was some time lost in the early game as well as about 18 seconds in warp 5, although honestly, I'm fine with letting this be for the time being. I need to play other stuff. Merry Christmas!!!!

Q: Why are you skipping checkpoints?
A: In TWoC specifically, checkpoints are designed so that hitting a checkpoint farther ahead in a level results in all the previous ones breaking at the exact same time. Also, breaking any boxes that appear before a checkpoint that you already activated will stay broken upon respawning from a death, thus allowing for easy death-abuse strats with otherwise out-of-the-way boxes (see The Gauntlet, Eskimo Roll and Crash and Burn).
Q: Why do you keep angling Crash into a wall?
A: Much like Crash 2, TWoC has a movement tech called wall-boosting, which is done by angling your character (Crash, Coco and the Mech) about 45 degrees into any flat wall. However, unlike in Crash 2, where its use is mainly in a handful of levels, TWoC's wall-boosting can be done in any place where there's a flat wall. Doing a perfect wall-boost makes your character go nearly twice as fast as they would normally, matching slide speed. Wall-boosting typically helps with maximizing distance while in the air and generally keeping the speed up while airborne.
Q: How are these loading times so fast?
A: I'm playing the game via a homebrew program called Open PS2 Loader, which is a program that loads ISO files straight through the PS2. Essentially, it's an emulator that runs off the actual hardware.
Q: Why are you playing on the Japanese PlayStation 2 version?
A: TWoC was originally made to be a PS2 game, and as such was optimized to fit the PS2's hardware perfectly, which in turn made it the best performing port of the game, period. The Japanese PS2 port is the most optimal port of the game as it reduces lag in certain levels (Sea Shell Shenanigans and Coral Canyon), it makes skipping cutscenes easier by mapping the cancel button to △ (remapped from the Start button which tends to drop inputs), and it retains the Red Gem Path variant from black label PS2, Xbox and GameCube (Greatest Hits PS2 and Japanese Xbox have a harder variant which makes the path nearly impossible without damage-abusing). The second most optimal port outside of PS2 would be the Xbox version, although Atmospheric Pressure was purposefully slowed down to make the fight longer, which hinders it a little bit.

Incredible, just incredible! At this point, 2:10/sub 2:11 might actually be somewhat possible, might. For now the deed is done, as I have been blessed with quite a few wonderful current world record full completion runs of Crash Bandicoot this holiday season. Also, a 106% run on GameCube TWOC sounds like a pretty interesting sub goal.

Thank you! It may be hard to believe but I don’t intend on taking any% any time soon. The category is extremely volatile with one dupe in particular proving to just kill any enjoyment for me, but if I tried, I could easily get a 46. Maybe one day, but that’s only if I truly feel motivated.

Great run. Attempted to play this game a few years ago already, but dropped it somehwere in Warp 2 or 3 because it was so aggravatingly sluggish and floaty compared to the OG Crash Trilogy. Gave it another shot recently though and managed to get to 106%. Still probably not gonna play it again :'D I laughed my ass off at 23:19 - 23:23. That was such a visceral and honest realization. Seriously, just surviving in these flying levels is the most difficult part. Friggin suicidal enemies.

How did you get properly looping music on the PS2 Version?

It was a long and complicated process of modifying the music files to remove the 0.5 seconds of silence (sometimes more, such as Compactor (1s) and Banzai (0.7s)) on each individual music track, then zipping it all back up in the game files. I did this for Greatest Hits as well as the Japanese and Korean versions.

If you mean just getting all the gems, then 5, but if you literally mean 100% then you'd skip 6. Getting the true ending without at least 25 relics would be pretty difficult, though.

GameCube indeed has bad framerate that hinders the overall speed of the game (text boxes take about twice as long to skip because of that, and the warp room teleporter moves about half the speed). I have a video on my channel that’s just me doing a 106% speedrun on the GameCube version, and it is indeed quite painful.
