I've seen Anthony throw 9 and 10 clubs in person. As far as I remember, he said he never successfully flashed either. Though he came super close to flashing 9 when I saw him. That would have been around 1990. I also don't think he ever seriously worked on it, but that's my own speculation.

I've seen Jay throw 2 balls, 2 clubs, and 2 rings in person. As far as I remember, he's still the coolest juggler on Earf.

Great video. Just one comment that I don't think people were harsh about Willy for the sloppiness, but more that he used a holster. I definitely think that records using holsters should be in a different category.

I honestly didn’t even realize he used holsters! Very interesting..

You got all the greats in this video I saw Anthony Gatto do 8 clubs live in Las Vegas festival for 12 catches in 1995.I went to his seminar. Bruce Tiemann was also working on 8 clubs at the time. Scott Sorenson had a good run with 7 clubs. Best I ever did was 7 catches with 7 Dube clubs. I did know Casey Boehmer really well he did 5 in one hand who knows what he could of done if he was born with 2 hands. Love your history of juggling!

Anthony mentions in one of his videos that he developed a 5 club grip when he was working on 9 clubs back in the day. It is in one of his club grip videos.

I attended a workshop led by Anthony and Nick Gatto at the IJA festival in 2003. Later, I was active on his juggling forums, and I saw him perform in CdS in 2011. He said that he attempted 9 clubs. However, I think what is more important is how the 8 club world record first happened. This was mid to late 2000s and no one had ever qualified 8 clubs. He mentioned on his juggling forum that he could juggle 8 clubs. People on there said, "yeah right! If you could juggle 8 clubs there would be a video of it." He said, "OK." And the next day he uploaded a video of 8 club fountain in a qualify that he did 3 times in one practice. Also, I remember hearing that he performed an 8 torch flash at a New Years Eve show in Branson in 2002 or 2003.

Actually, I was there the day Anthony juggled 9 clubs in this picture! After three minutes of him doing it, he yelled “take a picture, take a picture!!” I quickly laid on the floor and took the famous photo!

Do these require hundreds of attempts on video to get a flash?
@ZakMcallister2 жыл бұрын
Think more in the 5000+ range, likely more honestly
@Juggles14 Жыл бұрын
I have thrown 9 in the air maybe 200 times. The flash video shown here was my first 9 club session in years and it took about 20 attempts. I would say my 20 years of juggling foundation were vastly more important than the actual time hammering away at 9 clubs. If I thought it would take 5000 tries, I wouldn't have bothered trying; I would have accepted that I wasn't ready.
