It did prove that leaving on less power had a better 60ft, yes but 330’ did suffer a bit. But that comes from not being able to rev as high or have as much power up in higher Rpms due to stock camshafts

What people don’t understand is being a good tuner is understanding the motor you are working with and it’s limitations! If more tuners would taper boost in, & limit torque in the lower RPMs EJ factory motors can take a lot, & won’t lift heads. They usually lift at peak TQ region of powerband 3000-4500rpms

Pretty crazy idea here....Any thoughts about smacking it with a little NOS up top since you're pretty limited with the stock cams? Fix whatever is slipping, hit it with a progressive 100shot above 6krpm (dry kit of course with a nozzle in each runner), and if it doesn't fold a connecting rod you might be able to run a 9.20ish pass. The NOS might also help the valve float situation since you'd be able to make the same or more power with less boost and get some pressure off the back side of the intake valves.
