GDP per Capita technically does not implie to how rich or poor a country is however it mostly defines living quality and average income for the countries current population (the mean of combined population income) so when it comes to describing a countries economy it is not primarily attributed to GDP per Capita
@Capibaracapibara1992 Жыл бұрын

@truthonly2852 Жыл бұрын
GDP per capita still doesn't tell you the living standards of the average person. It just divides the GDP by the population size but that doesn't adjust for inequality. Example, Equatorial Guinea has one of the higher GDP's Per capita in Africa but it has one of the highest poverty rates in the world. I think the Human development index is better, it looks at a combination of life expectancy, gross national income per capita and the education level of the average citizen.
@lucaiervasi8515 Жыл бұрын
@@truthonly2852 Population size is not a determinant of per capita GDP. because a country with more population has more workforce and in theory should produce more nominal GDP. but obviously there are countries that are more industrialized than others and a lower GDP per capita in a country with a larger workforce indicates that that particular country is not fully exploiting its potential. therefore, the measurement data in this case is correct. but since globalization began, per capita GDP has become a useless and marginal figure. this happens because there are countries which, with their very accommodating tax regime, attract all the rich on earth, who move their residences from their country of origin to these countries to pay less taxes. Luxembourg for example is a tax haven, all the wealthiest Europeans have their residence in Luxembourg. but how much wealth does this country generate? Well, its GDP is about 100 billion euros a year, countries like Italy for example, produce the entire annual GDP of Luxembourg in 15 days. basically luxembourg is not a country for an immigrant looking for a new and better life, but it is a country for rich people who want to pay less taxes. to give another example, Switzerland: with its banking secrecy, over the years it has attracted all the biggest bankers in the world, who by bringing their residence there, cause the per capita GDP to rise more than it actually would have been. Ireland and Holland also behave in the same way and attract wealth from outside. but if we put all these economies together, we will notice that even in this way, they are nowhere near able to compete with any of the g7 members for example. G7 members, all of whom are ranked lower than the countries named above. but which have an industrial power that places them among the top 10 economies on the planet and have a real economy and not artificially created by importing rich people from all over the globe, on the contrary, these countries are victims of this system, because most of these rich tax emigrants, who swell the GDP of the aforementioned countries, mostly come from the G7 countries, where they first got rich and then took refuge in the tax haven to maintain their assets, but continue to generate wealth in the countries of origin, to then move the capital safely to the new residence and creating damage to the countries of origin, which see their GDP reduce year after year.

The cost of food and other consumer goods is rising dramatically, and we don't even need to talk about the other costs. In some areas, the USA belongs to the end as a 3rd world country.

It would be good to see the median income per capita as well. If you did that then it would be obvious that the wealth in some countries is often held by a small percentage of people. The Scandanavian countries would be a good example of everyone having a high standard of living.

First of all : This comparison is just averaging the GDP per capita. It‘s not very revealing about the wealth gaps and inequality in a country, which can be huge. The profits in selling clothes, which you buy here and which are made in Africa or other low wage place are made by your country fellows. Their gain is statistically distributed to each citizen., which doesn’t relate directly to your personal situation of course. Have you thought of how much time you have to work to buy one kilogram of rice from India in comparison to an Indian citizen or some tropical fruits from Africa, and how much they would have to pay if produced here and shipped to them?

in a rich country, you buy better quality goods, the infrastructures are of better quality, there is less corruption etc... Per Capita GDP is merely one measure. Singapore’s government doesn’t help its poor very much, throwing retirement funding to families, resulting in divisions in wealth. Australia has the highest minimum wage in the World; while, the United States can exploit immigrant workers. The Scandinavian countries are very well rounded and rank high in the Human Developing Index.

This is too simple. If You add debt of the state, debt of the county, debt of the companies, and debt of the citizens, then you are closer to truth.

Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia are the poorest countries in Europe, after Moldova and Ukraine. Half of the residents of these countries left for other countries due to poverty. The well-being of residents must be compared by purchasing power. You may have a high salary, but what good is it if prices are high in your country. And industry is also important, not painted papers. For example, the 50 richest countries in the world cannot defeat Russia alone. The entire European Union promised to produce 1 million shells for Ukraine in 2023, but produced only 60 thousand. But Russia alone produced 5 million shells in a year. You can also remember how the United States and European countries during the time of coronavirus could not provide themselves with medical masks and ventilators. There was money, but nowhere to buy it was, and they stole each other’s planes with Chinese masks. The economy of the USA and the EU is an inflated soap bubble. All such videos are very primitive and should be taken with great skepticism.

What does the graphic even show? The title suggests, it's the money, the country/government holds. The graph shows it's per capita. But is it the income or the average amount of money each citizen of these countries has in their bank account/assets?

I thought you had forgotten Australia and was surprised to see us rank so high. The way people complain you’d think we would be much further down the list. People don’t realise how good we have it. Funny how a lot of the African countries are so poor yet their leaders always seem to have the money to fight endless wars and they have nice new Rolls Royce’s.

@@outerheaven4384 It is true. Russia's economy is smaller than Italy's at some $1.8 trillion in size. For reference, America's is $27 trillion. The EU is some $18 trillion. If the non EU countries like Britain and Switzerland are add in, we can see that the collective West has a combined economy of some $50 trillion in size.
