@@alwynnel753 Mathematically it was an advantage, post rwc the top country always has a cushion because of the double points bias in the final. The system is a zero sum game so if you don't play after winning the final then you stay at the top by a decent margin. Only when you start playing (and losing) do the other sides have any chance to mathematically catch up. That said, they deserve their spot.

Yeah but ONLY since 1 year and they didn't play vs everybody. Problem with France is they are too irregular. I agree they perform well this year and for that they go from 8/7th ranked at the begin of 2020 and to 5th now. It's a good performance but i will wait 2023 world cup to see if they deserve to be higher (I hope) or not.

New Zealand may only be Number 2 this year, but hey, they still managed to break World Records which no other team in the World is able to do at any given time. They just finished a long 6 months where they played 15 matches, won 12 and lost 3 and amassed 720 points for and only 273 against. Along the way they added two more World Records to their growing list of World Records by becoming the first team to score 100 test tries, and the first team to win 500 test natches. That goes with the first team to win 3 Rugby World Cups and the first team to win back to back World Cups. In the World Rankings that started in 2003, the All Blacks have held the Number 1 spot 80% of the time, and held it for 9 consecutive years between 2009 and 2018. The ABs also lay claim to winning the Team of the Year for the most consecutive years that being 7. So it's good to see teams being able to actually challenge and beat the ABs on rare occassions and the celebrations are justified. Our old foes South Africa could claim a World Record at the next Rugby World Cup by becoming the first to win 4, yes 4 Rugby World Cups. And I must admit, their chances of grabbing that record are way higher than the ABs who will also be looking at being the first to 4. Everyone saying the NH will win the next World Cup. Nah, it's out of South Africa, New Zealand and Australia and could very well end in that order.

I agree with this. All round NZ I think are still the best team in the world, closely trailed by the Boks, all be it their styles are different. Loosing a couple of games doesn’t mean a team isn’t the best, it’s just a testament to the close and upcoming competition, which is a very good thing to see. I think the top 4 teams for the 2023 wc are SA, NZ, France, and England. You also can’t forget Ireland or Australia.

Let's see how things go once sh teams play nh teams a few hone games. It would help if NH referees were more adroit at refereeing all of the game consistently and less aware of the need to over referee and guarantee a place in the next World Cup. Six Wales games where the home team benefits from send-offs - ? I have no idea as an ex-player and referee where a legal tackle is anymore. I was completely baffled by the Australian send-off. Accidental head clash from a tackle that made contact at or below the armpit and he gets marched and it completely destroyed what could have been a good game. Then the deliberate knock-on ruling from accidental contact whilst affecting a tackle - no deliberate action! The same actions in the second half are ignored when Wales is on the defense and it results in a try! Whether the rulings are correct, and the video of it is very damning, these inconsistencies between referees and hemispheres are making a mockery of the game. It IS time to introduce the send-off replacement rule to the world. I really fear that Australia will be unable to field a national team in 20years - if it is not competitive there will be no sponsorship money, no audiences, and no quality players. Private schools and clubs can no longer field anywhere near the number of teams that even 10 years ago they did. The viewing public is not attending and not viewing because of a number of factors such as boring kicking duels, over-refereeing and inconsistencies. Rugby in Australia is dying and this northern tour has depressed watchers. The tied is going out because people will not watch this level of inconsistency any longer. League, Football, Aussie Rules, Hockey, Basketball, all have very strong followings and do not suffer from the same degree of rules inequality between hemispheres. I get protecting the head but apply the laws equally and perhaps people will stick with the game.

It is over-fussy and inconsistent and a game can be simply ruined by nonsensical TMO intervention when all would be better served by moving on . The technical issues at scrum time may well be defended on the grounds of safety but grind the game into a standstill and the tackle laws are becoming a mystery to me too as an ex player . Both our pro Scottish teams ......Edinburgh and Glasgow....... try to play open fast rugby but are thwarted by officials who are in our set up controlled by Dublin officialdom . I get that everybody has there home team and people may not always agree with ref decisions, but you gotta take into account that barely ANY international rugby has been played over the last 2 years, and there has been a ton of changes and injuries along with the end of the 19 world cup cycle, take wales for instance, full change of coaching staff and 20, yeah 20 first team players injured (and some kicked because of the WRU cap law but that's bs) and all international sides are like that atm, every side is struggling with player fitness and injury and especially discipline but dont write any one team off, like wales was seen as the worst 6 nations side this time last year yet they managed to win, you never know what could happen

@World Rugby I am still trying to explain all the horrible officiating to my kids, they are asking about direct head contact and penalties, also when is a delibarte knock down a delibarte knock down, the officiating during the Autumn Nations tour seems to have been orcastrated to show the world of rugby, World Rugby will do what it must to undermine the SH dominance of the last decade. Also, brave Dave Rennie doing what that guy Rassie did some time ago, yet no punishment? No steps by World Rugby to fine their referees who gets paid so much money, it is ridiculous that we can not judge their performances as to that of the players! It's been unbelievably biased, and mediocre at best. They are getting paid to do a job, which they are failing at, even with technology at hand!

On what grounds are you saying that? If NZ were bere better then SA, they should have beaten more teams and lost less. Did you forget that NZ lost against Arg last year (That you say should be ranked below Japan?). The rankings is mathematical, so every match count. They were behind SA so had to perform better then SA to regain the nr 1 spot. (They actually did that, but end up losing it again after their loss to France) NZ has no one but themselves to blame, for their current ranking.
