I am glad that most Malaysians especially Malays nowadays able to converse in simple English. It is showing that even you stay in kampung or village, our people still able to learn English and help themselves to improves their relationship with tourist. It is so different if I am going to Bangkok or Vietnam or Taiwan, they still unable to converse in English. I know some culture do not intend to learn the second language, but Malays know how important English is for them to understand tourist and offers their services to them much better and understandable by tourist.

Elara Fay we used to be colonized by the british. English is a common language even before we earned our independence.

Kok Fong Chow I know. But, when our education since 70's till the late 90's, our nation using bahasa in mainstream school. So english are faded since then and most Malays do not know or unable to speak in English. The enforcement to bring back English in education are a very good moves at least to train our people a few simple English.
@dannydzef11386 жыл бұрын
Klau tk cakap bahasa inggris pon ape salahnye, bahasa inggris bukan menunjukkan tahap kecerdikan seseorang tapi ia hanya utk berkomunikasi .. Kita ada bahasa sendiri kan guna jerla bahasa Melayu dahla Bahasa Melayu bahasa kebangsaan tapi nk jugak bangga dngn bahasa inggris dia .. Lagi2 cina, lahir dan hidup di Malaysia dh lama pun nk cakap bahasa Melayu macam orang asing nk cakap dan belajar bahasa Melayu

I'm a Malay from Terengganu. What can i say is that Terengganu malay foods differ from other ordinary malay food in Malaysia. Most of the foods are fish-based . Keropok Lekor, Keropok Keping, Satar, Otak-Otak, Sarok Lada, Laksa Kuah Masak, NAsi Dagang, Nasi Benor, Nasi Lemak Ikan Aya, Calong Ikan, Karipap Inti Ikan to name a few. And the best is we use fresh marine fish caught in our water instead of frozen fish. Thanks Luke for introducing our foods to the world.

Kalau satay itu berada di malaysia itu satay malaysia, kalau satay itu berada di indonesia itu satay indonesia. Kamen kamu tak perlu pun berada di sini.

These Asian countries are definitely so mysterious to me, i live on the other side of the world, in the caribbean. So it feels like a whole other world over thereto me, though i see slight similarities with their countries and mine. The people there and so humble and different, i would love to travel to and explore those Asian countries, damn.

12:50 If you want to try apam balik it's actually best to try the classic/original one, not the one with choc chip or sweet corn. The original one only has the basic ingredients and this is the best one to try. 14:50 The keropok lekor you MUST eat fresh off the fryer because once you have it wrapped up for takeaway even for five minutes it loses any crunchiness it has, so won't taste as good. It's a common mistake to make, order your keropok lekor for takeaway. Great video!

luke, if i can give you one advice as a person who eats with his hand, you dont put your hand in that position before scooping the food into your mouth. always pretend your hand as a spoon. so if you eat with a spoon, you dont rotate the spoon sideways, you always make sure it is facing up. so does your hand. what you do is facing your face down, your hand facing up like a spoon, and scoop the food into your mouth with your thumb.
@LukeMartin7 жыл бұрын

Heya Luke..oh my, I loooovvvveee Trengganu food!! 1. Eating with your hand - I bet by the end of your trip you would be a pro already :). But to make it easier for yourself, when you eat rice, just use your thumb to push the food in... 2. Otak-otak is wrapped in nipah palm leaves, not banana 3. That apam balik - oh gosh sloppy heaven! Hahaha.. 4. You can already see how closely we to the resource food is prepared in the olden days -sticky rice in bamboo, fish paste in leaves etc which makes such good use to what was available around the house 5. Be careful a bit when you eat sata though...the chopped chilli padi can pop up anywhere 6. The nasi dagang - the rice I believe is a mix of sticky rice and normal rice, and you just miss eating that with picked veges too. For me that combo is just yummm.. ....and why am I making my comments in point form? Hahhahaha.. Be safe and enjoy your food travels!!

There's different types of keropok lekor sold throughout the country, and they range from chewy to crispy. Keropok lekor is a type of keropok, which is fish paste that's pressed into discs for storage and then deep fried becoming crackers. Lekor is the same except made into sausage shaped pieces.

15:41 Keropok Lekor : Anything Keropok should be crunchy. I think the heat kinda wilted it. It changes the texture and dimensions when it's crunchier. Kinda like eating a Chicharon but shrimp. Great videos! Malaysia American here, and I don't think I've ever been to that side of the peninsula!
