I recently flew Emirates and the mighty A380 for the very first time from DUS to DXB and vice versa. Fantastic seat with great legroom and an absolutely quite cabin. OK - the windows are a little tricky to get a good look outside and to take pictures and get reasonable good results. Both flights were between 95-100% full (at least in economy) and the service was great. The best service in economy class? No - my no. 1 is still All Nippon ANA and - though in the past - the good old Swissair! But - as you mentioned - Emirates' IFE is absolutely the best and second to none!

Great review as always Josh. And size can matter aviation wise lol you cheeky sod! Only ever flown an a380 on AF LHR-CDG on their A380 promotion special. That was pretty special. My favourite bird remains the 747-400, hope to fly the 800 series sometime soon ( lufthansa perhaps to Sao Paulo). Happy to have flown EK on my trips to Beijing and Jakarta, and my bonus miles birthday flight just to Dubai. Crew usually OK but can be a non connected crew. Hard product and food always was solid! Always preferred Emirates over Etihad and Qatar in economy class. Dubai Airport is good to spend layover time (not as busy as the others) and the flights are reliable and comfortable. Nice to see you had a good flight as well!

Dubai not as busy as the others?! Dubai IS the busiest in the area, if not one of the busiest of the world! I had flights on Emirates and Qatar and if you like Emirates economy, you will LOVE Qatar economy.

Emirates miss out on the small things , like providing a welcome drink , warm towels , welcome snacks , and some of the cabin staff appear to have lost the ability to smile . We booked specifically Emirates for our flight from London to Kuala Lumpur via Dubai. The first leg was okay, but the flight from Dubai to Malaysia was absolutely horrible. We were sitting in the middle row with little space. The flight attendants were rude, the food was bad and it was almost impossible to get up and walk around as the flight attendants were running around pushing the passengers out of their way. I was hugely disappointed. So I guess it’s a hit and miss 😑

Agree, once you've travelled to several first and third world countries, you'll soon realise the difference in Emirates. Pretty lame and disappointing to be honest to see Emirates giving a secondary treatments to third world countries despite expecting the same fee!

Emirates A380 is just amazing . It's so luxurious and spacious. I travelled from Dubai to JKF in economy for 14 hours and it was quite comfortable.

Josh, I used to fly every 4-5 weeks on EK, MRU-Mel, pre-covid. Now I strive to book at least 6 flights, same trip for the whole year, unfortunately there has not been any huge improvements on the menu, but still the A380 is my preference, with my 51D,compared to the noisy 777. Nowadays we cannot trust the seat map, seats will be shown blocked or occupied but in reality it a strategy to get passengers paying high dollars for a more expensive seat. .. The WiFi is only about the aircraft position, most of the time connection will be lost. Compared to Qantas product, Emirates is far better.. Safe travel buddy..

I like the A380, i have flown in a Thai one and one with Singapore. When i get back to flying again my plan is to fly Emirates to the Far East so i can get a 380 for the first part from Heathrow to Dubai. I hope i get the experience that you have just had......

The area where he was seated is beside the cabin crew rest area (big boxed area in the middle section) , which he mistakenly said was the lavatory. It's always good to be at this section in Economy as infants are not allowed so as not to wake up the resting crew. I agree, the huge size of the A380 cabin is really a plus, adding comfort.

Omg we love Emirates. They are so nice and respect everyone no matter what ethnic background or size shape or color a person is! We won't fly another airline, they may be a little more expensive but well worth it in our opinion and there is 9 to 11 of us flying together on the way home from our summer vacation in Greece. Everyone takes different dates going to Greece but we all fly home together. Hopefully we will go to Greece this summer and also our first flight since covid. Stay safe and keep flying! I flew British Airways A380 from ORD to LHR in Economy (Exit Row, Upper Deck) and was very impressed with it. The plane felt so spacious and of course, the seat was amazing. The crew were incredible as well. I hope to one day fly Emirates' A380.

It always depends on the crew... My worst flight was probably with emirates in economy. The crew was horrible. They were eating the snacks that were supposed to be available for the passengers (at least it was like that on the return flight). I asked them for a coke, and she just opened the trolley, rolling her eyes and sitting down again. I was like AHM okay. And was just like. Sorry, it is part of your job to take care of the passengers. I'm not gonna look through the trolley myself. So she got up, put the coke and a glass out and let me fill it. Also, her 3 colleagues did not do anything or act like she was doing something wrong. Besides, I did only ask for it because between dinner and breakfast they did not go through the cabin to serve drinks even once! Also, nobody came when I pressed the call button.

That's a terrible experience. Sometimes, I think it must be a few overbearing, higher-ranking staff members who are able to infect the other staff with being complacent, apathetic and downright rude. Then again, Some staff members are just lazy period. I worked at a supermarket for 3 years and they'd always be one or two people who couldn't be bothered to do even the basic stuff (like ensure eggs aren't broken etc). It was baffling to me how they ever got hired, but I think its because they knew the managers or other staff & its hard to fire someone.

EK economy, my advice is DO NOT sit near the crew reserved seats at the back on a night flight or if you want to get ANY sleep. They use them for their rest breaks and talk REALLY LOUDLY for a long time, laughing and shouting with no care about passengers who are trying to get some rest. I have experienced this on a lot of their flights from the UK to Dubai and then onto Thailand.

A380 economy class sucks. Only flown it once on Qatar (DOH-BKK). The insanely dense seating on the bottom deck is hell when you're stuck in a center seat.

I flew on Emirates economy on full flight, and was definitely on of the worst flights. Boarding was horrible, their system was down for 2 hours before boarding and they didn't even apologize for the delay. Any complaint from the passenger they just kept saying email us, didn't even try to resolve any of the issues. There was not enough staff on full flight on 16 hour flight rarely saw the flight attendant. The flight after the transfer from Dubai was even worse, the flight crew are down right racist towards the migrant workers and dark skin people. This is still my worst experience by far, compared to economy class on Turkish, Southern China, even Malaysia airlines. Anything is better than having to deal with Emirates.

I took your advice and booked Emirates from Bangkok To London via Dubai. I cannot agree that this is the best Economy Class. Sure the A380 is a great plane - spacious and seats good. However the service on this flight was terrible. They proudly said that they had 24 crew. Well where were they? Both food services took forever, and the food arrived cold. There was just one stewardess on the Dubai to London leg who seemed to be doing any work - and pushing the trolly and distributing the food alone. Just before touchdown all the crew suddenly appeared - some of which I had not seen throughout the whole flight. Also there were no frequent rounds by the stewardesses and no water or other drinks offered between meal services. I usually fly Thai or Eva and both those provide and attentive service - but chose not to, on this occasion, as they are both price gouging at the moment with outrageously expensive prices.

Definitely do not agree with you. I flew Emirates recently from Auckland to Mumbai via Dubai and my aircraft had the really old cabin. I also upgraded to business class from DXB to BOM and again I was presented with their old seats. They advertise their new cabin products but they have massive inconsistencies in their cabin seats between their aircraft. They advertises the all new business class when I was upgrading and when I got onboard I was very disappointed to have a broken business class seat. Crew were also very disengaged. Sorry but Singapore airlines even Cathay have better cabin products and are consistent among their fleet. Service is also top notch compared to what I experienced in Emirates.

Flown Emirates 10+ times pre pandemic, so pleased to see the food and service have not been compromised or reduced, unlike so many other carriers are doing. Agree about the crew, they are great had a cabin crew member for my home town in Scotland a few years back, she was great, gave me a few extras and we had a nice chat, she was lovely.
