From one old-schooler to another...thanks for the awesome take on Dimash. Your reactions are quickly becoming my favorite on KZbin. You talk my (70's) lingo ;-) ). I know this may seem like a strange comparison, but the overall feel I get from him impact-wise is like with Elvis. In that, he comes out of nowhere, and no none quite knows what to make of him...plus...the charisma and adoration level from his fans, especially the girls. He's a voice I never tire of hearing.

He may have been sick, but he was definitely nervous and it messed with his breath. But that E6 put a hole in the sky. HE was still amazing.

Michael Burkey yes he was sick. Dimash has a phenomenal fan base in China and China calls him China’s adopted child. They know everything about Dimash, where he is at any given time, what colour Dimash likes, his flight details, when he’s sick and the nature of his illness. Everyone in China knew that Dimash was terribly ill when he participated in TWB. It made headlines in China.

The band mix was also a challenge. Besides the piano and keyboard (which appeared live), the drums, strings, and horns sound pre-programmed. They weren't quite in the pocket. Ken' s right - Dimash's vocals were low in the mix. We've been spoiled by the Sochi and The Singer bands and mixes. Still, otherworldly with power and passion.

I am enjoying the show, but I am unsure how anyone else can compete with Dimash Kudaibergen! He is truly an artist who paints a beautiful portrait whenever he sings! The tonal qualities of his voice are so very pleasing to the ear. He really pulls you into the song with his emotional interpretation of the lyrics...even when he is not a native speaker of that language! He is amazing...the very definition of The World's Best! Look up "best" in Webster's Dictionary, and you will see a picture of Dimash!

But he doesn't have his own repertoire and no albums at all. He sings the same songs on dozens of contest year in year out (in Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Russia etc.) it's annoying to hear the same thing. sing half a tone higher than last time - that’s the whole goal? "OOh does he reached E6? did you really hear that? Ohh my God." it starts boring. And probably he is being produced to replace michael jackson, copying his manner and he was allowed to do so.

Yes Ken, Dimash has absolutely set the bar very high. IMO, he has to be the best vocalist in the world right now, male or female. But to choose a male and female best, mine would be Dimash and Morissette Amon. Apart from their brilliant voices, it's the way they interpret the songs, their singing technique and the emotions they put into it which makes the lyric of the song come alive in front of our eyes. What makes it so much more refreshing is that they don't have to dress half-naked or twerk around on stage to attract our attention. It's pure music even if its a sad emotional song still brings a kind of joy when it is sung so well. They are very inspirational to many of us who live in countries outside the west and whose culture have been overwhelmed by western influences particularly in the music and arts scene.

Yeah. Never, ever. I've been trying to listen to it sparingly, to prevent myself from getting desensitized. But I'm failing in that endeavor more and more by the day, lol. I'm so grateful to that French musician for creating this song and Dimash and his musical people for gestating it in its decades long cocoon into this incredibly intense, moving, mindblowing rendition. My only fear is that he could get bored of it some day. We fans, with our setlist demands, can do that to people. It's sad.

Thank you for your words! I think this was also the time that his good friend was murdered. A friend that was a skater and did his routine to SOS. In his London consert he made a tribute, singing this with a video of his friend skating in the background and he had to stop singing for a while because he was crying. So add that to the tight scedule and being ill and having problems with the headset, I have no idea how he could pull this off! He is a professional, thats how ❤

That was by far the darkest performance he's done of that song and, since he's done it so often, I think it was good idea to switch it up as much as he did. I do wish they'd given the singers more than 2 min as it feels "abrupt" through no fault of Dimash. He did the best he could with the time he had.

I really appreciate that you've expressed that no one needs to make excuses for Dimash... his fans perhaps feel they are being supportive, however, I see it as completely unnecessary - some even comment that this performance wasn't "as good" as other interpretations, failing to hear, see, and feel the "perfection" in each of them... Hello Ken, Thank you so very much of your professional assessment on Dimash World's Best performance. I am so touched and cried when you debunked all those accusations of autotunes, lip syncing that some listeners and even some vocal coaches on Dimash's and confirmed what I always think of Dimash that he is indeed a great singer that you can believe on and fight for all those accusations. It is really sad that numbers of listeners and reactors don't have enough faith on Dimash capabilities as a world best singer. I listen to your input so greatly and I am not really worried when his colds or illness affects his voice quality as a lot of reasons why sometimes his pitch has slight imperfections like rest, foods you eat, etc. I did have noticed that some want Dimash to be perfect at all times and refuse to listen or even recommend to reactors to skip or don't pay attention to some certain songs and performances which really is not fair to Dimash. I realize that I may hit some listeners in the wrong spot but this is how I feel about Dimash, accepting his slight imperfections. Thank you again, you made my day.

I am not a singer but I think die to the fact that he had to cut a lot of the song it must be harder to show his ability because of the way he build the switches and also the flow was missing..of course we noticed he was very nervous too..nit this is because we Dears know him so well..same reason for is saying that it was not his best version of SOS..we listen this song thousands times..saying that for the majority must was a Wow..we know that this is just a glimpse of his talent. ..Dimash- he will amaze you every time. I saw some comments about him not singing live or using auto tune. I'm a huge fan of Penatonix and they often sing in airports or when fans would come up to them because they love it so much. I did a VIP with Penatonix and during the photo taking session Scott was randomly singing little pieces of sings. So I searched KZbin for Dimash singing in the airport and there is a video of him singing autographs and singing for fans. He is just a talented person who has worked hard to train his voice. It's rude of people to try and minimize his talent and hard work by claiming it's auto tune or lip sync. I appreciate you pointing out the difference between auto tune and microphone effects. Wow. To hear you say you do not want to compete with Dimash is really something. And I would agree. The guy is a monster indeed. I have never seen anybody (singer) who can be as perfect pitch all the time. I was one of those that "thought" he could be using some kind of a playback on his live performances but that is because it is almost impossible to be that vocally perfect. We have seen so many great vocalists mostly coming from USA, and then here we have Dimash, of all the countries, coming from Kazakhstan. .. He is out of this world.

Thanks for the encouraging reaction, Ken! I watched the show last night and was concerned mainly about the (producers'?) decision to shorten the song (it's 1:20 SHORTER than The Singer version). Much of the luscious vocal and emotional development we saw during The SInger was swept away; I felt like someone stole my favorite pony. But -- our boy knocked it over the fence anyway. What a guy. Hope to see his next performance given all the time it deserves. Faith Hill was moved by this by SOS; she'll be crying like a baby if Dimash gets a chance to do full-length Autumn Strong or Adagio or Hello or.....

He have an upcoming concert in Moscow in March of this year and he is going to be a guest singer at Igor Krutoy concert in New York this October. They have announced that they are planning a concert here in USA hopefully at the Madison Square but haven’t confirm yet.

Aside from everything you need to consider that Dimash had very busy end of the year. One day in Kazakhstan, next in Russia, next thing you know his concern is in London in November and finally America. The time difference with America is about 12 hours. You need about a week to get adjusted to the new time, you will constantly feel like crap until your body adjusts. And I know this from the first hands experience. Do you think Dimash had a week to adjust? I don't think so. Now I am not sure when exactly he was in America to participate in this show but during London concerts November 19 he had pretty bad cold and had to sign for 2.5 hours with soar throat and runny nose.

I love you, your reaction is great. About nay sayers there are a lot of people who can't accept the genious in others. Dimash is just amazing I don't know what else to say There is no one else on the planet that is like him, What I liked best in his presentation was that he was singing with raw emotion, not just passion. He is the consummate performer. I don't know if you saw the votes from the Wall but there was one expert who was a record producer who didn't like him. He shocked everyone with his reason I would love to hear your opinion of this. He said and I quote "he was incredible, but, but because you can doesn't mean you should. What the heck does that mean?

AWESOME reaction!!! I love the little trade secrets. I was very disappointed with the excuses of the two judges that said No gave, You might not like the song or his style of music but don't give some half assed excuse that he's too "perfect" I mean REALLY! The name of the show is The Worlds "BEST" right! Other than that on Dimash's end I'm so....excited for him and the fact that he gets to showcase his AMAZING talent on such a world stage. Thanks for the reaction Ken. It was great but I agree that it seemed like the sound guy didn’t have the mix just right. At one point the audience was drowning out Dimash and I couldn’t hear him well. The audience clapped in China and Russia but I always heard Dimash loud and clear.

Dimash never fails to give me goosebumps with this song and most of his performances despite not understanding one word he sings (except his English songs) I am always moved by his performances that's what I call art ❤️, just incredible 😱

Firstly he's really busy preparing for concert in Moscow in March. Secondly I guess he's preparing a surprise for judges and viewers. Thirdly he never sings a song the same, every other time we hear differently sang songs

I like how he has corrected his French pronounciation. I noticed how he sang the S's in "vis" and "ris" in his earlier performance. Now it sounds like perfect French to me.. (I'm not a native French speaker, though). Other than that, this guy is INSANE!! His voice can bring me to tears!

Love, love, love your reactions. I appreciate a real musician opinion, especially when I heard your amazing vocals. It means a lot, and I'm sure Dimash would be happy to receive a praise fro someone like you. As for this performance, yes, he was insanely nervous, and for some reason they made him change the song - cut it in half. I agree with you that he did an excellent job! Made all his mommas and other Dears so proud :) We are waiting for the next episode, and I know it will be amazing, though I'm still worried :)
