I have one to, she is the cuddliest thing i've ever known. the thing that actually does make rottweilers dangerous (if you are stupid and/or careless enough) is their size, weight and consequently enormous strength. I mean Mine is just over a year old and i have to actually get rough when we play otherwise she just gets bored and go off to find something else to play with, I'm actually sometimes worried i might hurt her but no, she just flashes that awesome grin rottweilers do all the while knocking me over like a bowling pin...

Rotties are smart - I used to own one. This dog knows if he gets along with the cat he gets free back rubs. And the cat has a buddy that can protect him.

I used to own a Rottweiler, they're incredible breeds. Very loyal to their owners. We had to socialize our Rottie (Angel) with people a whole lot. Obedience training is not an option, but absolutely necessary. They're great dogs to have, but dominant. Exercise and resting go hand in hand, so balance is key. They love exercise, my Angel certainly did. When I would take her on walks, all she did was run and pull me through the neighborhood. Start exercise, socialization, and obedience training immediately if you want to get a Rottweiler puppy. Small walks when they're puppies to start out with, and as they get older, gradually build on walks. I did that with mine and she was with us for 13 and 1/2 years. She passed away in May. Rotties are smart, so they're easily trainable, but stubborn. Never hit or scream at a Rottweiler, that could make them aggressive, and that is not what we want to do. You have to be disciplined enough to have one, but once you do, they're such good pals to have. And the last point, but certainly one of the most important points to point out, they're big babies. They're so adorable, cute, sweet, and you have to baby them cause they act like babies.

Training is so important, so if you're not good at it and don't have the patience and love, please don't get one, because they deserve nothing but the best.

Both my Rotties loved our cats. Our second Rott would spend lots of time grooming the cats and they would sleep two at a time between his huge front paws. Not a day goes by that I don't miss my Rotts.

Its sad that rottweilers have earned such a bad reputation such as:"They are bad dogs that aren't gentle" you know who is bad and stupid ? Well the owners are ! If trained and raised properly they can be excellent pets the same thing is with pitbulls or staffords... I had Kong he was a 180 lb rotty. The vet in Orlando said he was the biggest rott he had ever seen.. And let me tell you kong was the best dog i ever had! Sense kong past on I've not ever wanted another dog. It was heart breaking watching him grow old and pass on.. Never again! He loved his cat and his rabbit and my kids!! Never had to worry about them as long as kong was around! RIP buddy!! We the fam miss you..

My rottweiler Tegan 15 and Molly my 20 year old Tortois Shell cat had a long adversarial friendship together. Both passed away from old age in January of 2015. Molly passed on 01/03/15. Tegan stopped eating shortly after and passed on 01/23/15. I had not realized the friendship they had always seemed to be going at each other.

I had two and 6 cats. Every time my cats went inside and around my standing dogs, The dog would hold very still and raised his head way up, pretending they did see the cat and oh boy if they sniffed, they got waked, my Rotties had the biggest respect from all the cats and when they slapped on there side, the cats came and lied on there bellies for a nap.

Actually, it all depends on how you raise your dog. I'm an owner of a Rottie and he is very friendly to humans. He becomes aggressive only when an unknown person knocks on the door or when he thinks his owner is in danger - (he reacts on even a friendly fight simulation). Rottweilers are one of the best dogs in the world-the bravest, very smart (mine is like a human),very loyal, easy to train, friendly, strong, knows how to guard etc. Rottweilers are just awsome! IT ALL DEPENDS HOW ONE IS RAISED

A lot of it has to do with how the animals were raised/trained, and their personalities. One of our cats hated the dogs but loved to sneak attack them from behind the couch, and the other cat thought it was a dog and would join in when the dogs tusseled with each other. How fun!
