Matt you produce great videos, very entertaining and informative. I personally could not justify spending that much on a flashlight. I could see emergency and law enforcement personnel having a use for such a light. Maybe someone with a lot of disposable income or a desire for bragging rights. It is a very cool light. @Potassium Syndicate There are kinds of fish that are bottom dwellers who are not spooked by light. ex:- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flathead_(fish) Some fishes and squids are also attracted to light.

I definitely see a use in search & rescue for these lights. Maybe Coast Guard or similar entities. And I too want to know about the full specs on battery run time etc!

@@Eric2300jeep For s&r, I'd expect a light with a *lot* more capacity. Otherwise it's like a GTnano, that's compact and convenient, bright for its size, but has a "turbo" of 2.5sec. Scaled up, for this light, of course, but similar principle.

to be honest I would attach some para cord to it and throw it from one end up over a tree branch and pull her up so it's facing down towards the ground so then you can see everything around you at camp

Matt I have to disagree with your choice of best mini thrower. The Lumintop Micro and Mini are great little throwers however, the Thrunite Catapult V6 and Catapult Mini are superior in terms of quality and performance.

The Catapults are not mini throwers… not even close to the size of the gt micro.. the catapult would be considered small thrower but not mini in the slightest

Not to mention the Lumintop GT Mini is almost the same size as a Catapult V6 which is slightly bigger. And the GT Micro is bigger than the Catapult Mini. The GTnano has a turbo of, what?, 2.5sec? Bah. Expensive toy. Love my GTmicro, though, and my Catapult Mini (tight hotspot!), for pocket-throwers. My GTmini I'd put in the same class as my P30s, C8s, etc. My IF22A has a wider beam but outreaches the CatMini just from sheer oomf.

Does the XHP70.3 HI makes a big difference for throw?

It would definitely tighten up the beam. Usually going with a domeless LED vs a domed one will have about 60% more range. Sometimes at the cost of a few lumens though. I don't know what bin emitters they are using, but back when we used to just slice the dome off the top of an LED to accomplish this you got a slight loss in output but a huge jump in range.

@@johntheux9238 Martin did a test between both the XHP70.2 and XHP70.3. He got a throw of 949 meter with 60 000 lumens output for the 70.2 and 1051 meter and 51000 lumens output for the 70.3.

@Apple Holic Depending on the size you want and battery choice, if you want a medium/big thrower I recommend the Noctigon K1 with either of the White Osram LEDs, for a smaller size one (and cheaper), go for the DM11 or KR1, with the Osram LEDs or an SFT40. The K1 would give a useful maximum throw of 1300m (650-600kcd) and the DM11 and KR1 between 600-500m max (150-100kcd). The DM11 and KR1 can be had for less than $60 and the K1 for $100. Quite a lot of flashlight for your money. Alternatively, you can never go wrong with a Convoy C8 with an Osram LED (its name will be something like CULPM1 or CSLNM1), they are super affordable at around $30 and throw quite far.

No Imalent for me, I bought an X75 - which is a proof that a well-engineered flashlight do exist. Imalent overdrive the LEDs and doesn't match their Vf during manufacture. Moreover, the fans are not placed where they should. Imalent prioritise their lights for lumen output, without following the necessary processes to keep their flashlights reliable and reasonably durable. I expect the battery pack to be the first component-part to die in an high-lumen flashlight; no, in an Imalent light, is the most durable part. In the end I buy only flashlights which are engineered in a canonic way. They won't win any flashlight contest because of this, but I win in the end...
