History has been made this past weekend at the Texas Mile as the M2K Motorsports Ford GT achieved 300.4 MPH in a standing mile. That is 0-300.4 MPH in ONE mile which only took 22 seconds to get there! Congratulations to Mark Heidaker and M2k Motorsports for such an amazing achievement!

Lol you DO know that the tires used by this Ford wasn't street legal right? Thats the main issue- "street legal" 300mph tires. Any race tire can do 300mph+. Just look at top fuel drag racing. Those tires can even do 350mph easy. But are drag tires street legal? So why is Bug and Koenigsegg so fixated on the tires being street legal? So that the cars can be labeled fastest PRODUCTION cars. In short, anything that goes on the car during the top speed run HAS to be the same that goes on the car that's being sold to the (fockin rich lol) public. And why are drag tires not street legal? They have no grooves. As any other race tires. Why do street legal tires need to have grooves? So it can disperse rain water. STREET LEGAL tires is the issue, not "having no 300 capable tires".

I doubt there is much of anything stock left in that GT. Although it is actually a pretty smart choice to modify a GT for this given that it is very wide and low which probably helps with stability and I bet it would be easier to work on that Ford than comparable European supercars.

CarAddictionz unfortunately lmao. Bugatti is the first car to hit 300 without completely gutting and rebuilding the whole car. It is impressive that ford did it first, but the stock 2006 gt clocks out at 205mph. The Chiron was just slightly modded. All that was done was it got a 10” extension, was lowered slightly and made more aerodynamic. No internal features of the engine or the workings of the car were changed.

Ford fan boys screaming, “Ford did 300mph in a standing mile while bugatti took over 5 miles to achieve this feat.” Well I dont know how much this ford gt puts out but when they did 280mph run it was producing nearly 2500HP with 45psi boost and an extremely modded 5.4V8. This run it has to be a much higher number. Bugatti had the same engine as the production car with 100 more horsepower and hunked down for aerodynamics. They removed DRS from the back and fixed a normal spoiler. Still weighed twice as much as the ford gt. And you can drive around in that chiron after the run while ford probably needs an engine rebuild I guess like dragsters. So suck it up, both are great cars built by great engineers and mechanics with huge dedication.

Amazingly there seems to be NO significant aerodynamic modifications to the base car. Bugatti spends years on developing the active aero just to prevent the Chiron from losing its grip at 420km/h yet this car here goes 480km/h looking just like the ten year old Ford GT without any aero. Mind blown

Watching this vid, and others of this run, the limiting factor appears to be a relatively slow launch due to the high gearing in the trans and the differential. If they could build up more speed just off the starting line, I think they could get to 312 mph on the top end, which would then be 500 kph.

The tires are no problem to achieve speed records below 500 km only are a problem if you want them to be used on the street, track and all weather. Ex. In 1925 Sunbeam Tiger broke speed records, achieving the 145 miles without aerodynamics without electronics and with non-pneumatic tires. NO ONE doubted, because it was not a street car and with tires for daily use it was a car for an exam. There is the fallacy of BUGATTI that generates the ridicule of using multipurpose tires. Goes to show why the Ford GT is such a legendary car. Hard to find another mass built car that can be taken to such extremes. And yes the Ford GT is considered a mass produced car in the super car world with 4000+ units built from 2004-2006. Unlike say a Koenigsegg which makes may 100-300 units per model.

My 2016 Mustang Ecoboost took out Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins Diesel with 25psi on a Diablo tune! On a freeway roll! By 4000rpm and 25psi I floated past him! I was shocked! The 6.7L diesel engine is 400+HP and 850ftlbs of TQ! Ford is the number one muscle car maker on the world! This Ecoboost line of cars are all deadly when tuned! The Ford GT is using a 3.5L TT Ecoboost engine! If you guys want a low entry cost Ecoboost car, get the Mustang Ecoboost! It's worth every penny above 20psi!

Not only was this amazing, it did it in the standing mile. Imagine a Bugatti doing that in 1 mile...OH WAIT, IT CAN'T. Give this Ford GT the same distance the Bugatti takes, I bet it'll do well over 330mph.

There's another video on You Tube where they give out the mph readings in each gear, and the GT went through the traps in "5th" gear. Never even got into 6th. Also, yet another vid on You Tube that showed a big digital mph gauge readout inside the car but just over the windshield. The readout showed 306 mph after he cleared the timing traps, just as he backed off and popped the chute.
