When I was 14-15, I was in a group of probably 200-300 12-18 year olds trying to set a record trying to hold onto a rope and sit at one time, then pull ourselves up at the same time, but the rope snapped as we sat down. Lots of people got rope burn and for those at the break they got whipped by the end of the rope. We had an official I think. But we didn't break it. Kinda sad.

You do need to contact Guinness however you have to pay all the expenses of the official including airfare, hotel, and more. So the Guinness official will come and oversee the attempt. However you can do it without a Guinness official being on site, there is just a lot of things they require for you to have in place. Only certain people who qualify can do things like counting and keeping the time. I was recently involved in a successful (unless some horrible error took place) record breaking attempt as a volunteer. We are still waiting on the official decision from Guinness, but we don't expect or foresee any problems. Except maybe counting chickens before their hatched. 😥

I thought the same thing, that's almost exactly how I've always described the feeling "like my stomach is starting to eat itself", it's usually an intense burn and empty feeling, I have no idea how people could go a week without eating, let alone 94 days.

Guinness is alot different in america than ireland. It doesn't taste right if you have it there, especially somewhere like the original Brazen Head. If you do that or go to germany and have beer there, real beer fresh, you can't have american beer or even imported anymore. (importing takes long enough for it to change its taste some)
