Green energy ... What a piece of bullshit. The EV story is about green energy only for naive normies. In reality it is about the price of imported traditional energy which is going to skyrocket due to the fall of the dollar and euro. Mobility will be a lot more local and electric in the future because people will not be able to simply buy imported gas. That is the story.

In your other video, you talked about China improving diesel efficiency from 45% to 55%, saving 14% on trucking fuel costs. Electrifying new transportation sectors with things like electric ships potentially saves 100% of fuel costs, and will drive the biggest shift in Chinese energy consumption and imports over the next decade. Right now, China has tipped to over 50% EVs for personal vehicles, following busses, taxis and rideshare after HSR and light rail - Chinese ground passenger transportation is rapidly shifting to 100% electric. China already has electrified freight rail, and is shifting to electric trucks, so it won't be long before ALL ground transportation in China is electric (NEV to include HFC). That leaves sea and air, and we're now seeing that shift to ever larger vessels. What are the strategic implications of a China where ALL domestic surface transportation is powered by renewable energy?

Dubbed ‘the Tesla of the seas’ this fully-electrified, fully-autonomous cargo ship is already making waves. The Yara Birkeland has a 7MWh battery, charged by Norwegian hydro power. She can carry a little over 100 containers. The ship cost about 25 million dollars, about three times a “conventional ship price”, but will nonetheless cut OPEX for Yara by 90%.

Or the ability to “turn off” elevator buttons after being pressed? I first ran across this technology in Seoul. Also, given the lower prices are workers in the PRC able to work fewer hours per week? Personally, once I obtained a certain income level, I only ever sought additional time off.

Both of those are 100% waste, like shining a flashlight on a solar panel. A container ship could potentially benefit from solar panels, but it's far easier to simply package batteries into HUGE container-sized modules and swap them in port at the same time cargo containers are unloaded & loaded.

@ZweiZwolf

@@vengeancerecovery5535 This is for domestic use on inland waterways within China. If the battery modules are standard containers, then they would transport on the same intermodal freight as the other containers. China's ports already have big power substations to power cranes, electric trucks, and container movers, so it's trivially easy to set up a battery charging station at each port, no different from setting up a fuel depot for crude oil. China reap big benefits, regardless of whether this ever gets exported.

That's perpetual motion you're proposing. We were sternly warned against that in school! There's no getting around it: It takes power to push a load somewhere, and those batteries have to deliver it!
