Hey Hazard, I am sure it takes away from the visual fidelity, but can you keep a highlight on the opposing jet whenever it's in frame? I know they are highlighted occasionally, but I can't tell if they aren't highlighted because they aren't in frame, or simply because they aren't highlighted. I have an almost impossible time finding your opponent, and knowing where they are would greatly improve my enjoyment of your videos, as it would help me understand what you are doing and why. The 80's and 90's didn't show the physicality or mental focus needed to withstand the strain of dogfighting for the fighter pilot role in movies, that's for damn sure. The knowledge of geometry needed to offset and then gain advantages in a blink of the eye must be immense.

If you’re beyond visual range does the missile have a “cone of effectiveness” ie an area within which the defensive aircraft is essentially screwed unless they can manoeuvre outside that radar cone?
@UK_IN_US
@UK_IN_US 7 ай бұрын
Yes and no. Depends a lot on the specific missile. You have to defeat two different things at once: the radar on the enemy jet and the kinetic energy of the missile. Pulse-Doppler radars can be defeated by “notching”, flying in such a way that your plane stays stationary in the enemy radar picture and therefore blends into the background, breaking the radar lock. Older-style radars won’t lose lock this way, but are much more vulnerable to chaff countermeasures. While you’re doing that, the missile is flying towards you. The missile only has so much energy (fuel) available, and it can only accelerate in one direction at a time. If you’ve ever played tag and juked the person trying to tag you, it’s a similar principle with dodging a missile - you get the missile to go one direction & build up speed in that direction, then you change direction so the missile is going “away” from you too fast to catch you. The most modern missiles can sort of “turn around” and keep chasing you after a miss under some conditions, but overall I hope this answers your question!

Opera. An acquaintance (who happened to be the only American involved in the taking of the Temple Mount in 1968) claimed that Benny Peled was in on the planning of that strike, and he was definitely in on the Entebbe Raid. Story was that Benny called the man to meet him at a cafe. Small talk about the Americans being dullards from Benny. The TV there had CNN on. Benny looked down at his watch at one point and counted down, and then stated that the Iraqi Reactor had just been hit. Within moments CNN Broke with the report and the video of the F16 tossing a bomb through the the hole in the dome was shown. Years after being told this, I read somewhere about the King of Jordan being on his Yacht at the Red Sea, seeing the Flight of Israeli jets going over, he called Saddam and told them that they were on the way. I am more apt to believe the Benny Story, but there was the point that they had to hit a Saudi Flight Path and fake being Saudis to penetrate North, and that might explain the going South to go North. Everyone must have been looking for them. Storied Air Frames are wonderful.

@@miguellogistics984 I remember seeing an interview with one of the Israeli pilots and he stated when they were flying over the Red Sea at very low altitude they did see the King of Jordan’s yacht. They knew he would try and contact Saddam at that point. The time of their bombing mission they knew the military including the radar operators would be on lunch and the radars were off. They flew their mission at a extremely low altitude before climbing then diving on the target. Only after the bombs started to drop is when the Iraq’s would switch on their radar and open up on them by that time it was to late. When I first see Top Gun Maverick and the started talking about the mission in the movie the Israeli mission immediately popped into my head.

@@JB-bs1se Thanks for all of that. Shows that I was not completely off on all of the things rolling around in the head. Below Radar is always a great move when you are dealing with Missile AA. Those things just come and get you. While my Great Uncle brought his flight High over the German EW and Fusing Command Radar, then came in below 10k' having already removed all armor, and let the AA go off at 20K' and direct hits pass through the B17. Hooray for Benny Peled! Planner of Opera and the Raid on Entebbe. Skillful Planner.

I would pay any amount of money to ride shotgun in the backseat during a sortie. As a civilian pilot, one of my top bucket list items is to fly in a fighter and "dogfight" one time. Just once and I'll be satiated with life. Playing laser tag with a couple of Extra 300's isn't the same as doing it in 4th gen falcon's and vipers. Top aces could add that product to their business model. Sure, they've got their contracts with the government and help train but damn, can a brotha catch a ride, once? P.S. Hasard, thank you for partnering with Henson. I've never heard of them before, and yet, after your pitch for their product, I researched them and just bought the whole package using your promo code. I hope that helps your channel and your business, and I think this new razor will benefit me. It makes sense. I shave my head; I'm bald by choice and have used the Gillette Mach 5 Fusion. I like the idea of using only 1 blade instead of 5. I am very prone to razor burn and irritation because of my skin type and I have a coarse beard type. It's rough. I feel the Henson will be smooth and solve shaving issues. Thank you, man! Seems like a good product to pitch.

Great vid! I was hoping when you asked about avionics they were going to say they also replaced the block 10/15 analog FLCS with the block 30 digital. The only question remains is how does a small group of board members have enough money between them to afford 29 F-16s?! Are you sure they didn’t order Dodge Vipers and when the jets showed up they just said 🤷 we know what to do with these 🤫 😂

Is it just me or when you pause the video at 8:51 you can see what looks like 2 ufo tic tacs. If you zoom in to the top right after pausing at that time you can clearly 2 objects.
