@Stitch763 жыл бұрын
I never kept a running cost monetary, I have a rough figure in my head but would need to work it all out. Time wise it's expensive though, there are hundreds if not thousands of hours put into this. Insurance is through a specialist broker.

@@Stitch76 but how much would it cost to put insurance on it. Hopefully it’s not expensive
@Stitch763 жыл бұрын
@@tabssibanda6695 I got my insurance through a specialist broker and there were lots of discussions about it and limitations placed on it as well, it's not too expensive really but my main car insurance was sorted out at the same time, so it's a sort of multi car policy type thing. Not a lot of people would insure it, purely based on they had no idea what it was and what the risk factors were which was understandable.

Tried to order one here in Germany and it says this one has no parental remote control. Is it possible to add one I'm a mod?
@Stitch763 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. They did sell a version of this a couple of years ago that was remote controlled, it wasn't brilliant, the car was too heavy for the standard ride on motors that they used, hence why they stopped selling it. Now you could replace the controller with a controller that can accept an RC input insead of the pedal, that would make the motor element remote controlled. That is actually quite simple to complete. To make the steering remote controlled, here is where the difficulty is, due to the rubber tyres offering increased grip, it would need to be a substanial motor to turn the front axle. Now you could use a linear actuator here but I would advise you get one that will self reset after you have used it to steer, or you may find difficulty in returning to straight via RC. Of course by using a linear actuator with the self reset, you will lose incremental steering as due to the fact as soon as you let go of say turn left, it will reset, so it would be ever full lock or nothing. Why are you looking to add parental remote control?

To put it bluntly yes! I sit roughly 20cm from the ground, there is no suspension, you feel every little bump. I do have a speed restrictor in place that does help. All I can say it's awesome to drive and am so glad I accomplished this.
@Gartneren12343 жыл бұрын
This is just brilliant. Would love to have a mini-car like this one right here. Is it registered though? Noticed the numberplate, but is that like an official registration, or just something that came along with the car from stock-version? It is just a shame that making a car like this street-legal in my country would be an absolute pain to do. Come to think about it though, the closest thing to do would be a go-kart. Interesting, I'd have to check that out closer if I were to try this project out.
@Stitch763 жыл бұрын
Hey there, it's an official UK registration, they get issued by our DVLA (Vehicle licensing authority) to all vehicles that meet certain required standards and pass a test. There is a wonderful 400 page guide from them on what all the requirements are, it makes for some pleasant bed time reading haha
At the moment you can't, although I have a lot of people asking me about this and it's something I may consider but due to the amount of work involved, it's not going to be cheap

@FoxxyYT oh wow that is a lot of money, I love these ride on cars but not that much, they are much cheaper in the UK. Is there much of a secondhand market for them out there then?
@foxxyytofficial4 жыл бұрын
@@Stitch76 almost absolutely no, at least from what i know i can see some cars here and there around the country's ebay-like websites, but they always want price of new in used toys . Here in my city i found a store that repair them, but they ask for borderline abusive prices to sell them. If they weren't so expensive all around the country, i could easily buy them, modify them like KidStance/CKC Garage and resell them with reinforcements and different ideas/mods, but prices don't help. And being unemployed i can't import them from Paraguay (border country with Brazil, its like a second China with all that variety of things to buy), and where they have some good cars (like the 6x6 Mercedes that can haul father and son, lots of smaller cars and pick-ups, with prices lower than Brazil)

@@Stitch76 and your XXL car is absolutely impossible to appear here, with the original price of 1600$ we can buy real working cars here (my father's actual car costed less than 1700$ and when he bought it was really in good condition, almost mint condition)
@foxxyytofficial4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Stitch76 I'm here commenting so that you could use some of this as an idea for your future upgrades. Unfortunately those motor/differential kits aren't well documented, so there isn't a lot of information about the type of spline used in these metal parts, but from what i searched about, it appears to be a 16-teeth helical spline. Here's one Amazon ad that shows a bit of the dimensions of the motor's shaft, but not showing pitch of the teeth or other important things anout it. www.amazon.com/VEVOR-Brushless-Differential-Electric-3000RPM/dp/B086L4VYG9 A beefier motor and a programmable controller like a VESC would be perfect, since with VESCs you can limit the RPM of the motor, so that you can leave the entire travel of the throttle unmodified and the controller takes care of the speed limit, throttle curve, current limit, and a lot more variables. If choosing a non-watercooled version of the VESC, just strap some fans, a heatsink, and create an air duct to cool it, and if choosing a watercooled one, just strap a pump and a radiator with fans. I really want to see this little car being upgraded/modded, since it's already street legal, so you can have an even better project. Best of luck in your projects, and stay safe in those 2020 times.
@Stitch764 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I hope you are well and staying safe. Thanks for the info, oddly enough I have looked at that exact motor before. Yes you are correct on the 16th teeth helical spline. A VESC is planned for the future or a Kelly Controller, still not too sure on which one. I need to keep this rideable by my kids on private land so they are great options as you said due to the limiter. I do currently have a limiter on the car but it's a variable one that I use to adjust the speed limit for when my children use the car. This will be upgraded shortly, first thing to do is the wheels as they are quite a limiter. I will eventually have 2 sets of wheels, the 1 currently on the car for the kids to drive and then one for when I want to use it on the roads. Sorry for vague responses, I am trying to not reveal everything I have planned/am in the process of doing but want to give you a really good response, as I appreciate you taking the time to write to me. One issue you do with the current differential is that the end that goes to the wheels (can't remember the name now) is only 17mm which effects certain hubs that you can get for aftermarket wheels and brake calipers. The motor fitted to these cars is actually capable of taking a much higher voltage then what I currently run at, my biggest limiting factor at the moment, is that I am running on SLA batteries as opposed to lithium batteries. This is a personal choice though as SLA batteries are safer for when the kids drive the car but it does give a much shorter run time. Stay safe too and look forward to speaking to you in the future.
