The best part of flying drones is that they enable you to get a view that would not otherwise be possible for the average person to see since helicopters and planes are too expensive. But underwater you can just swim. If you want to go really deep you can just scuba dive which isn't crazy expensive. So I feel this product doesn't have much use.

As far as the cable pulling the submarine drone upwards is concerned, the manufacturers could put a sensor in to display the current angle of the drone from both the front or back and left or right. That way you could alway check the orientation of your drone.

We at at Airspatular, have developed wireless signals for underwater operations. In the near future you will be hearing much about this technology. The signal works as any wireless remote signal would, a transmitter and receiver. However, underwater has always proven to be an issue for these signals. This new innovative approach to the problem will allow a signal to a depth of 40meters. This is a major breakthrough and will allow for many operations in the domestic market. Some application will suit military use but at this stage it has not been our main focus. We expect the biggest uptake of interest to be in the "hobby sector" and this as you can imagine, will be limitless in terms of the hobbiests creative abbilities. We look forward to releasing this new technology next April Fools Day!

Water is really good at blocking wireless signals. So Bluetooth, Wifi, or other common Radio signals won't work. Even for very short distances (I have lost Bluetooth connection in less than an inch of water).

It could go wireless but it would literally only have a range of a few meters. They could add a antenna but the power consumption would be huge. A 100m cable is better than trying to use wireless signals in this case

i think this can be further improved by having the umbilical cable connected to a small buoy that boosts the signal to the receiver, if you did this not only would you improve its operational range extremely you could also potentially extend the amount of cable it can have by having a dispenser/feeder in the buoy that deploys more cable when the drone reaches a depth milestone, you can even design the buoy to charge the drone with solar cells and for the drone to carry more batteries to maintain its neutral buoyancy and extend its lifespan, you can also program the drone to automatically surface if the cable snaps or it loses its signal reception, and since it uses VR technology you can probably program it to have a UI that feeds the viewer live data of its surroundings much like sonar maps the sea floor, so that even if the camera isn't able to see everything all at once the sonar and lidar on board (if it has one) can. the point is to make the buoy as light as possible and the drone as heavy as possible without making the drone unable to achieve neutral buoyancy or making the buoy heavy enough to put tension on the umbilical as it starts to skim the surface of the water, the antenna should also be tall so that even if its deployed at sea the buoy wont flip upside down, and the buoy should have the ability to significantly boost the signal by 300% at least (which is very achievable), the point of the buoy is to basically act like a relay satellite, helping the signal reach vast distances with ease, the RC controller should also be made to be capable of borrowing the boats radio communications to boost its range from the controllers end as well, if they did this the drone could reach horizontal operation ranges of upto 1000% with vertical operational ranges of 200% or more if the drone is upscaled in size and scope even if the company that designed this drone never does anything i just said i'm willing to bet that amateur hobbyists would jump at the chance to make some cheap drone with lots of engineering flaws like this and improve it far beyond its original specifications, technically its not illegal and quadcopter drone hobbyists already built plenty of their own versions of drones so its very likely to happen.

If you want to see a clear video with it go to torch lake, michigan. At some parts the lake is 100+ feet deep in other parts it's 20+ and filled with fish and other cool underwater creatures like mud puppies. Look them up they are really cool looking. Just a recomendation. It is one of the cleanest lakes in the world so i thought i should put it out there.

the best way to wind the wire is hold the plug with your thumb and an open hand then wind the wire around your elbow over your hand under and over easy.
