Coming in for a landing at the airport, the pilot warns us of altitude sickness and offers quite a few tips in case you feel dizzy and lightheaded. That’s La Paz. 5000 m or 16,500 fr above sea level. Extreme city. And pretty wonderful.

I was born in LA Paz in 1974.. by parents that where missionaries.. my dad had his own tv show called solo pada ninos. And was the only American to be able to talk about God in the army bases... if any one remembers John maze.. give me a shout out.. he died in a moped accident 12 years ago.. was just curious if anyone remembered him. I went to the American co op school in LA paz.. this video brought back so many memories.. well done documentary...

I live in La Paz and you really should feel grateful to live in the USA. You have a lot of opportunities and access to different options of living. Most of all, you can travel within your country or go to whatever place you want to across the whole continent. The reason is simple, all Latin American economy relies on dollars and I guess that you have plenty. However, not everything is sad and black in my country. We live happiness differently and the only way to learn that is by coming over here. If you come here, take a lot of care cause people here are not naive. Wish you the best.

I love watching free documentaries about Bolivia. It gets me in touch with my culture, and seeing these cities bring back memories from when I was young and visited the country. Going in three weeks on skimp budget. Where u think a good place to stay for a few days?
@anso5833
@anso5833 7 ай бұрын
@@gregrussell7821 Hi, I'm not really sure about the budgeting because I went when I was young, so it was paid for by my parents. I think Santa Cruz is probably more expensive because it is a bigger and more modern city. I went to Arampampa, a city up in the mountains. It isn't expensive there and there is beautiful nature, but there is a lot of poverty there so as a child coming from a Western country it was a very big culture shock. There weren't any hotels available, so we had to sleep with 6 in one bedroom. I don't know if this place is recommended for tourists either since I was told it could get dangerous, but I definitely recommend visiting a city up in the mountains with a native or tour guide because the you have to see the scenery there. I also went to Cochabamba, it's a very big city and there's lots to do there, I think this is maybe in the middle range. Not as expensive as Santa Cruz, but more expensive than Arampampa or any city high up in the mountains for that matter. I suggest you maybe look up more information on this topic, but these are some suggestions. Bolivia is a very beautiful country and I'm happy you get to visit it, definitely try to learn some basic Spanish if you haven't already, I'm sure the Bolivians will love it!

I clicked on this because I love learning about the rest of this big old rock we live on, especially extreme places like this, about as far removed from little old Adelaide as it gets 😃 but whoever made the decision to colour the subtitles the way they have should be sacked immediately! Honestly they fade into the picture waaaay to badly for this interested Aussie to focus and try and read along with. Sorry guys but I'm missing a good half of everything these fascinating locals are saying and I've had to click off watch something else not 10 minutes into it... Such a shame cos it looks like a wild place to life 😮😮

How strange it is to build a city without understanding the climate and weather conditions, This centuries old planet , the Earth, has given us much information about itself through its various seasons and catastrophic climatic cycles. Development planning should be so insensitive, it's unbelievable! We can only pray for all those who became the victims of high altitudes and extreme weather calamities.

5:40: many don’t finish building their houses because in Bolivia buildings under construction are not subject to taxes, so people deliberately leave their homes half done to avoid taxes. That’s why it’s a common sight all over the country. It’s surprising that the lady in minute 7:00 says the city didn’t finish the projects to stabilize the soil: where does she think the money for such projects comes from? The taxes she likely never paid.
