In college I had trouble waking up so I rigged a monster of an alarm clock. I had a Mr. Coffee coffee maker with a clock built in that allowed you to program it to start making coffee at some particular time. The coffee-making part broke, so I took the electronics out and installed it in a small box (about 3 x 3x 6 in). I mounted an electrical outlet receptacle to one side of the box and wired it up. Now when the "alarm" went off, anything plugged into that outlet would power on. I plugged my entire stereo system into that outlet. Before I went to bed at night I would put Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon on the turntable and cue it up to the beginning of "Time" (where about 40 clocks all erupt at once). I'd set the volume level at a good healthy "8" or so, and went to bed. It worked. It also nearly got me evicted from the apartment I was renting. LOL

As that loud of a sound can damage your ears, try using different frequencies of sound to wake you up. Some will put you to sleep. Others will make it impossible. Try buying a better alarm clock. Some will have better frequencies and thus wake you faster.

Kipkay forgot to show/ add a relay driver. The alarm clock's speaker output doesn't have enough voltage to run a relay. I have this fishy feeling that the horn sound was dubbed and he never got his project to work. No offense, you're still my #1 YT idol. :)

At least on Win7... Step 1: Click the start menu Step 2: Right click computer Step 3: Click manage Step 4: Click the ARROW to the left of task scheduler. Step 5: Click Task Scheduler Library Step 6: Right Click in the blank area Step 7: "Create new task" Step 8: Set the action to start a program, and then find a suitable MP3 on your computer to use as an alarm. Step 9: Set the trigger to a time, I use Jan 1st 1995, and then just change the time around to whatever I need. Make sure to set it to repeat daily if this is... a daily alarm. Step 10: Set conditions and settings to understandable and reliable options for your personal affects. Step 11: Plug in a decent speaker (no more than $30 need be spent) and then BAM. Step 12: Enjoy your "homemade" alarm clock. I use a nuclear/air raid siren to wake myself up. It's super effective!
