IT broke the wheel under 30% of what any other wheel could easily withstand. The fact that the car just broke under normal to light use says volumes about the company and the poor quality of the build. How embarrassing for them that the car just fell apart. Did they not test it before they shipped it? The poor tire mounting or choice of tire caused the car to break the ground effects just by revving it. Has to be the worst debut of any new rc car ever.
@LordPrometheous2 жыл бұрын

the most concerning thing is, if anyone else other than someone with a decent public following like Kevin bought one. and it broke under the same or less stress, and had no way to prove to the company that its a poor product subsequently loosing all their money. 3D prints can be incredibly strong, but much like carbon fibre it has to be printed in a certain way so that the "weave" can withstand stresses. not to mention that there are materials like GRP that can be printed with and would be much better suited for these components. those wheels looked to have a circular print pattern, meaning that the weak points were at the mointing points. just incredible that such a poorly thought out product can be pushed out, glad that someone with a decent following is able to hold the company accountable.
@germanrcbashing2452 жыл бұрын
3d printing can be pretty strong if you use the right materials and printing technic. With 3d printing, it depends on the material you use, the speed in which you print, and the temperature of the nozzle. You can literally print with powdered metal and resin and it will be stronger than steel. I've seen 3d prints of actual car parts that lasted as long as the originals.
@NeoIsrafil2 жыл бұрын
you'd be surprised.... it really depends a LOT on the way you print it. I print in ABS, and PETG and with the right settings I can print small parts that I literally cannnot break by hand. The big thing is that you absolutely NEED to keep the heat levels up just below glass transition so when you lay on the next layer it fuses completely. its a really tricky balancing act and needs a heated enclosure, but it can be done.

The parts looked to me like they had just got a new 3d printer and had no idea of the limitations and design requirements for 3d printed parts. They looked like laser sintered nylon maybe. I think cnc post-processed carbon fiber nylon would have been a much better choice. Also, all of those parts were really thin, like they were designed to be made in metal or something. Even just compared to traditional injection molded parts for other RCs, they were really thin. If you want to make something strong, you have to make it look chunky, not delicate, especially for 3D printing.

We take the responsibility for that as our early bird customers have taken the risk to buy from a new company a new kind of car. When they ordered the first cars we informed them that they get lifetime warranty for the car because of this risk. Kevin's car was in the first batch of production, we get parts from three different suppliers and the rim failure we think was a low quality print. We will check when the car arrives from him. The expanding tire situation: we didn't find belted tires only for our rims, that's why we used these tires. We should have tested them with 6 cell, but as I mentioned the final testtests were missed. By the way we don't understand why he pulled full throttle for a three wheeled car. In the first case, there seemed to be some fundamental flaw in the car. After the remained wheels were explode, we think they hit the surrounding parts and caused so much damage. Next week we will get our new wheels, we will test GRP factory wheels with belted tires and we made adjustments on the bottom plate, for more wheel clearance on cornering. Right now we think that these steps will solve the problems. On our prototype car the weaker quality printed parts lasted longer than these. But we didn't tested the car on three wheels... We will publish our latest test asap and send the replacement parts for the customers. Thanks for your message, I hope my answer helped to see the situation more clearly! Best regards, Attila”

Re 3D-printed items: Kevin wanted responses in comments, so here's my 10½p worth! A 3D-printed item has no force strength. A 3D-printed item is quite alright for non-pressure items, non-tensile items, non-torque items and non-torsion items. In RC cars a 3D-printed wheel-hub may not have the required strength to the (scaled) phenomenally high torque factors that a little super high revving engine actually produces.

I missed this AWD 4 Motor car a month ago, but now that I've seen both videos I have to comment. My first thoughts were excitement and concern. I've been dealing with brushless motors in my light electric vehicle business since 1998 and have always wanted to build a 4-hub motor go kart basically like this RC car but without suspension. The motors have been available for quite a while, but a controller with enough power and the intelligence to get that power to the correct wheels at the correct speed is not available ... at least not affordably. What I didn't expect this car to do was self-destruct so quickly. I did however expect it to self-destruct. Once they get obvious problems worked out there will always be a high rate of motor failures due to contamination. If you own one of these cars plan to bring a powerful blower or vacuum to clean the track thoroughly before running the car. The amount of metallic dust everywhere in our world is amazing. This car with the magnets spinning just 10 mm off the ground will stop these motors in a matter of minutes. You will have to disassemble each motor and use duct tape to clean the magnets more often than you need to charge the batteries. Literally. Unless you thoroughly clean the surface you race on, I guarantee it. The other obvious solution is to shield the motors which may cause overheating. That being said, this car has massive potential to kick ass over anything and everything else. I think a better first version of this technology would have been a vehicle with no suspension (like a RC go kart) but with larger tires which would act as suspension. Ideally run on a smooth clean concrete surface. This could make for some epic 4 wheel drifting. I hope this company does not give up as they have the potential to change the RC world as we know it.

So my opinion on high end radios……They DO make a difference, but only if you take advantage of it. Think of it as iPhone and Nokia 6210, they both make phone calls exactly the same, and that is what most people do with them. I have just bought the futaba 10px, had it 3 months and still using my CR4T !!! Now I do fully take advantage of the majority of features on CR4T, but to make the radios give you an advantage it’s all about setup for each car, takes forever to dial them in. But when you do, an absolute advantage!

I think guys who own a monster truck might have rc trucks. But I don't think the opposite is true. Wicked truck can't wait to see the build videos.

Once you get your monster truck done, you and Colin Furze could get in the Guinness book of world records for biggest RC monster truck and go viral by rigging your actual real life monster truck to some electronics and a remote control. I've seen people rig up a regular car but never a monster truck and how fitting would it before you to do. Cheers

Wow; this really is a great concept, but should be printed titanium (some bicycle frame joints) or CNC'ed. This idea would be better suited to a crawler which wants all the weight in the tires.

With the wheels, I don't think it is so much it being 3D printed, but rather where they decided to put their logo and it throws the balance off. Wheels certainly need a near perfect center of mass, otherwise they're going to do that.

Knowing that Mammoth want to do an autopsy on the car is great news. It's very rare that a company will do that. I think they should rewrite the software so when we're learning how to use the car the software is as easy as possible to set up. Maybe the lowest setting should be 4wd, slow acceleration (ish) and a slow 40mph top speed. Then when we're comfortable driving it we can increase the setting to go faster with more acceleration etc. Or if you're Kevin then you can just put a tick in a box and accept all responsibility for the damages and open it up to the max. 😆👍

on the 200 mph rc car do what this car intended and put 4 motors that would be the best way to get it to 200 and depending the design it might work for a 100 off road or more

I just got the team associated reflex 14b and like it out of the box. Could you get one and do a video and even put a better esc and motor in it so it can run on 3s lipos not just 2s lipos?
