In my house my dad prepares the soil, I plant and my sister harvests the potato. But it's usually around 2 or 3 buckets only. I will definitely try this recipe!!! In Germany we have something similar but filled with bread not meat. My grandpa makes them in the style of Thüringen region. It starts like your recipe but after pressing the potatos you have to dry the potato so that you get flakes, then you add the collected starch again. Then you cook mashed potato but make it quite liquid. Then combine the hot mashed potato with the grated potato and the starch and mix it. Then form the balls while it is still very hot! (Best keep the cold water running to cool your hand after every ball you form) then cook it :D (in this case it's called half and half because it is made half with raw and half with cooked potato) My grandma used to put the grated pressed potato in a sack in the washing machine and turn on the spinn cycle so that the water would come out without her having to work on it ;)))
@romasandmo6 жыл бұрын

Only problem is here in Bulgaria is not common and easy to find beets in a jar, so I have to boil mine and grate them. I will use only bulgarian yogurt and sour cream, because kefir is also not common here. For sure it won't be as tasty as in LT, but I will give it a shot!

@@victorleduc INGREDIENTS Meat 0.8 kg (1.8 lb) minced pork 2 chopped onions 1.5 tsp. basil 3/4 tsp. pepper 3/4 tsp. salt (or according to your taste) Coating 4 kg (8.8 lb) potatoes 0.5 kg (1.1 lb) boiled minced potatoes Potato starch from grated potatoes 1.5 tsp. salt (or according to your taste) Sauce 0.25 kg (0.55 lb) bacon pieces 1 chopped onions Water Water 1.5 tsp. salt (or according to your taste) My grandmother and I take you through the journey of traditional Lithuanian dish - Zeppelins making. Everything from growing potatoes to making Zeppelins. It took me months to complete this video, but at the end I think it was worth it! You decide. Cheers! DIRECTIONS 1. Plant some potatoes, grow them and harvest them. 2. To make the sauce, add the bacon to the pan and fry it for about 10 minutes. Then add chopped onions and fry them for about 2 minutes more; 3. Mix the meat ingredients thoroughly; 4. Grate potatoes and then mix them with all coating ingredients thoroughly; 5. Nib off a piece of coating and, then flatten it in a palm of a hand. Add some meat to the middle, then close it and by rolling between the hands form a zeppelin. Grandma’s tip! Wet your hands with some water, so the zeppelins would not stick so much to your hands. Also wet the tray you are putting the zeppelins on with some water as well; 6. Add some salt and starch to the boiling water. Starch is optional, but it evens out the sur-face of the zeppelins. Put the zeppelins into the boiling water and boil them for about 25-30 minutes or until they are done; 7. Eat them with the prepared sauce, some sour cream or anything you like it with. Cheers!
