The Pamban Railway crosses the tropical landscape of Tamil Nadu, the former Madras, for around 600 kilometers. Heavy storms and rain showers make the route a challenge for Indian Railways to this day. The film accompanies the "Rameswaram Express" over the notorious Pamban Bridge, the first bridge across the Indian Ocean.

Another interesting fact is that Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, ex-President of India and one of the world's best missile scientist was born in that small town of Rameswaram at the Southern tip of mainland India. From being a fisherman, to becoming president of world's largest democracy, his journey is very inspiring.

I haven’t been to this part of India, only to New Delhi and parts of Punjab. I’ve also been to Karachi in Pakistan. This part of the south and the lovely railroad are so beautiful to me, I would like very much to see it one day. I’ve really enjoyed everyone I met during my first trip to India, everyone was very kind to me from cab drivers, vegetable sellers, shop keepers, policemen, people at various temples & just regular people as I was trying to get out of their way or riding in traffic with my friends. It’s very obvious to me that kindness to strangers is a value that almost everyone keeps. I even met people at petrol stations who were wonderful to speak with. ❤️ from 🇺🇸

Agreed, there are other factual inaccuracies as well. It is the jaundiced eye of documentary maker that sees what it want to see. 1. Indian railways does not assign work by caste. It is incidental that people working as cleaners are mostly from lower caste. 2. 28:02, it was clearly apparent in the video that hard work was done by both men and women. The narrator makes it sound like women working hard is a discrimination. It was quite a hypocritical remark to make when women world over are marching to get the work. 3. They show as if the entire train is non-AC. All the long distance trains have both, AC and non-AC compartments.

Never knew anything about this railway. Have no interest in trains or railways, but this was a nicely done and filmed documentary. That railway is quite remarkable, considering this was old-timey tech. Engineering at it's finest. Non-dubbed original language with subtitles would be the icing on the cake. Love the history, geography of the area and surrounding area, and wildlife and ecosystem.

1. Dangerous route because its India, if it was in the west it would have been engineering marvel. Words are important. 2. Those jobs are open for everyone willing to work, the vacancies are filled post qualifying railway exams. 3. Fastest train in India literally runs with a max permissible speed of 180km/hr. 4. It is mandatory to have two loco pilots in every express trains in India. 5. Indian railways have AC coaches too, for people who are wiling to pay more. Nothing has changed in the past 70 years about western media showing the side of India with all the information being half cooked, fake or carefully crafted to make sure it does look bad.

The trains and rail infrastructure are not from Colonial era 😮, rolling stocks are replaced. Older coaches are scrapped and existing diesel locomotives are being sent to Bangladesh, some African and South Asian countries. Transgenders don't entertain, they are there to grab money from passengers, infront of the camera they behaved 😊. Railway recruitments are based on one's educational qualification and individuals from lower caste are given priority. The train creeps at 15kmph over Pamban bridge. And Hindu's place of worship is Temple, not Hindu Building.

Best video, it makes me always exciting when i watch pamban bridge. Although I had travelled three times but still want to travel to that corner of Tamilnadu. Mesmerizing experience, awful journey and challenging work for the engineer's who took care on daily basis. It's a very risky job for those railway worker, I appreciate all the staff related to pamban bridge. Their hard work and commitment towards their work is highly respected by us . Thank you for making a wonderful documentary for this mesmerizing journey.

I suggest that Sri Lanka and India work together to enhance their railway infrastructure and extend it to Sri Lanka's Mannar region. By connecting Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka with Tamil Nadu in India, this would facilitate travel and trade between the two regions. With the integration of flight, ferry, and potentially railway connections, it would promote stronger ties and improved transportation options for both locals and visitors.

Colombo and Western Sri Lanka always had better connectivity and larger exchange with India than Jaffna and Eastern Sri Lanka. That's why Sri Lankan Tamils are so different culturally with Indian Tamils ! Both people and land thrived separately (with existing boat travels but at very low scale) until the Britishs came.

It's really funny calling this track as the most dangerous... The west trying so hard to paint one of the most developed states of India as poor 😂😂😂😂😂😂. FYI Tamil Nadu's Human Development Index is in par with European Countries and India of 2023 is not India of 1923, we are whole new different country altogether.

The tone of the documentry sounds more like the editor is journaling a safari or savana and less of rail, pamban or culture. Like head lion is licking his palm or something on those lines. That's me, viewers may have different opinions. Most Indians, unlike me, are humble about people making video about them and give back more to people than they deserve to get in form of love respect and affection.

Thank you for that great video! I want to point out to others looking for the amazing hill-temple shown at 22:00 that it doesn't appear to be the Rock Temple as mentioned, but possibly the Urachikottai Temple instead, which is located about 80-miles (130km) upstream the Kaveri or north-west of Tiruchirappalli, just north of Bhavani.
