Watch our video on ''Bhakra-Nangal'' train which is free for everyone. The Bhakra-Nangal rail route was finished in 1948. It was intended to transport local residents and workers, who were constructing the Bhakra dam-the world's highest straight-gravity dam; whose construction was finally completed in 1963. The train initially ran on steam but was later replaced with Diesel locomotives in 1953.

Superb Coverage !!! Thanks!!!! Although I am from Nangal ( Pb) area and knew about this train /project but had never travelled in it. This coverage has really polished some of the important information. Bhakra Nangal project was/is the harbinger of projects of hydro electric technology. This project was really a hallmark and confidence building milestone in dams, irrigation, power generation and HV transmission etc. This Dam was described as “ Temple of India” of Pt Nehru ji. I am 80 year old engineer and have seen this project come up virtually from a scratch. 🙏🙏👏👏👍👍🕉🕉
