I think musky lost the spot by buying twitter, and generally being an idiot. musky's nominal wealth is speculative to a particularly high degree since so much of it is the trading value of tesla stock that is undeniably several times higher than it has any business being due to the fact that musky's narrative of tesla being the future is very popular with investment gamblers. tesla stock is about as footed in real value as bitcoin. this luxury brand guy's wealth is also based on a highly imaginary value of the brands, but it's likely to be much less volatile due to being spread out over many different brands. what does increase or decrease his wealth is the matter of how much money rich people are currently spending - which is apparently rising, that's why he's become the richest man.
