The kind of people at the heart of light EAB are are absolutely ‘salt of the earth’, relatable, smart and genuine as well as being just very interesting folks.

I've always looked at the Chinook with curiosity, but not a real buying drive. Well that as radically changed with this video. Serious people doing a serious work. Add to that the well known features of this air craft. I'm sold. 🙂 Thanks for the video. ;-)

When you're new as I am, the CO$T's blow the mind somewhat & the prices don't include assembly so there's a lot of hours of work to get this package buttoned up for flight. This is one of the better kits I've seen, of course I know nothing but I do know I like the metal(tube -n- flat), how it's attached, and all incorporated into a strong unit. Believing in a product is like so important & I do believe in this one. Wish I could afford her.... perhaps one day. peace & great video

I live in East Tennessee and there’s tons of small private airfields all across the Appalachian Mountains here and in North Carolina. To me it seems that critical points would be range and achievable altitude because a lot of the fields are in the mountains.

i wonderi fyou could put the 912 uls on there instead of the 80 horse. that should give you enough oomph
@jtjames79
@jtjames79 Жыл бұрын
@@WX4CB I keep thanking electric range extenders would be really cool for ultralights. Just magnet a couple to the underside of the wings, or wherever is clever. That way you can have the gas motor always running at optimal RPM. I sort of remember something about one of the first ultralights actually had a folding propeller. Theoretically you can make the range extenders all-in-one units battery, propeller, everything. I know they have automatic tabs you can just slap on a Cessna, to give it plug-and-play AIO autopilot. Similar concept, except electric motors instead of tabs. So extra power and autopilot (assuming you have two of them for differential thrust).

@@WX4CBDan Reynolds flys a Rotax Rick 670 that puts out 95hp. It’s a 2 stroke and I hear that number is conservative. It not a 582, it’s actually a engine off a sled from my understanding. But Rick converted them to a Aircraft engine with dual plugs and ignition. I believe the Chinook will handle the 100hp. Now Dan’s little competition bird is modified and I don’t know what he had to do in order to make his Chinook handle 95hp. That would be a question for Dan. I believe I have his email and number if you want to talk to him. I would have to check…🇺🇸🦅

I'd certainly be interested in a Chinnok with slats & flaps if it ever becomes available. I suppose there is some type of agreement while Dan Reynolods is competing in STOL competitions, but those extra mods would make the Chinnok a lot more desirable. They would make a safer airplane, too. Nice they have the improved landing gear at this time not to mention the many other less noticeable improvements.

Love this little plane🤗 ... and it is great that a Tall Person rebuilt this design, and a Rotax 912 👍 , if I could get my 3rd class back I'd be flying one of these.... nice shop tour.

Amen, the tall person sentiment. I,m 6'5" and 280lb this is actually a "big", small a/c. Not cheap by any means. Has to be a more affordable power plant that is adaptable.

I'll have to take Rotax .. I was amazed at how small this engine is first time I got close to one at Oshkosh back in '18 and some things just cost a bit more when you stamp "Aircraft" on the data plate🤨and lots of these are available used /rebuilt at a reduced price.... very dependable and trusted engine.

What landing/taxi light is that under the nose? Do you have any feedback for it. How will it work after a year or so since many cheap brands lose their brightness quite a lot after the first year.

I like this video because he explains more about the flight characteristics of this aircraft. Start to understand that this is not something a low time pilot should be jumping into without proper training. One of the problems with experimental especially these pusher type aircraft not much training available. I know they were providing some training wonder if the new owners if they ever get the factory going again will provide that.

The website says they sold the company and retired. New owners claim they are moving it and will start production back up when it gets moved. Now that I see it's been 6 months since this post sounds like chances of production starting back up are less and less. Not surprising with the cost of labor these days just too much to continue to produce something at the price points people expect. Have to price them for the financial demographic of the customer. The kind of person who can afford to spend 30-40k at most flying.

When the prices were up on the website it started in the high 20's no engine included. The DR and SJ were mid 30's none of those have an engine included. There is one on Barnstormer right now I think he wanted in the 50's with a 912 engine.
