This is a 2-hour bullet chess tournament, Lichess Titled Arena (LTA) February 2019, I provided commentary on while specifically observing World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen compete. This tournament has quickly become the world's strongest, and in all likelihood fastest, bullet chess tournament. I livestreamed this event at twitch.tv/ChessNetwork. Lichess Titled Arena February 2019 is held for titled chess players only, namely Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters, National Masters etc... Magnus Carlsen played under the account "DrNykterstein". This was the 11th "Titled Arena" held by lichess.org. Its $1,000 prize pool goes to the top 5 players, with 1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $125, 4th - $75, and 5th - $50. This tournament was played on February 9th, 2019.
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Consider subscribing here on KZbin for frequent content, and/or connecting via any or all of the below social medias. Your support is greatly appreciated. Take care, bye. :D

I love it when Jerry commentates move sequences like an auctioneer from the Roaring 20's calling out bids. "We've got d7! Are we gonna see c6? C6 is played and now he's got the bishop pair! Bishops are exchanged and now the knight jumps into g5! Knight goes back but the pawn is too fast! King tries to run but there's not enough time AND it's Carlsen for the win!"

And while CM is the minimum requirement to become a NM, many NMs stay NMs while they become higher-quality players. You need to play FIDE tournaments for FIDE titles. Jerry is better than a CM, I'd say.

Isn't there a tactic at 1:08 and a free pown. I'm surprised that Magnus didn't hid the f2 with the bishop. If black recaptures on f2 with queen his bishop is hanging. If he recapture with rook there is back rank check and mate.

Hmm, actually it proves the opposite: that Carlsen is human. Magnus thought he had a fork with Nc6+, winning back the queen, only to discover that the knight is pinned. There for he played Bb5 first. His opponent just hadn't time to capture on b5; after recapture it would have been a draw.
