Denali is far from the third tallest mountain. I think you looked up a list of mountains by prominence (which is how far down you need to go in order to travel to another peak that's taller), and mistook that for height. In prominence, Denali is third, after Everest and Aconcagua (the tallest mountain in south America), but prominence is more a measurement of isolation rather than absolute height. For example, Lhotse, the fourth tallest mountain in the world (about 8,000 feet higher than Denali), has very low prominence because it shares a ridge with Mount Everest, and only need to descend 2,000 feet to climb from Lhotse's summit to Everest's.

Correction on the title and description of this video. Denali is not the world's 3rd highest mountain. Its peak is not even in the top 100. However, it is the world's 3rd most prominent mountain. Prominence means the minimum height of climb to the summit on any route from a higher peak, or from sea level in the case of Mt. Everest. Denali's prominence is pegged to Aconcagua in Argentina

Yes, Denali is not the 3rd tallest mountain out of all the mountains in the would. But he was looking at the seven summits of the world, so if you look at that Mountain Denali is technically 3rd tallest.. Hope that helped.
