And Jeremy Affeldt's interview got me all choked up. Also I loved the mid-interview hug from Casilla to Madbum, who used to be so shy with the media in 2010, and even in 2012. This is my favorite world series. It still gives me goosebumps. A game 7 on the road and no road team had won a game 7 on the road before this in like 50 years. So the odds were really stacked against the giants. This game 7 also stood out because it was a low scoring close pitcher's duel throughout the whole game. Bumgarner's pitching performance is still so amazing to watch. Gordon's hit at the end and the mistake by Blanco still gives me a heart attack too haha.

I know everybody gives Bumgarner all the praise & yes he deserves most of it he totally does there's no doubt about that but Affeldt's name is barely mentioned at all & yet if it wasn't for his superb relief performance there's no telling how this game would have turned out... I know he only pitched 2.1 innings but those were huge...

@camicawber9 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Affeldt is not just an unsung hero of this game, but of all three of these recent Giants WS runs. He saved Game 6 in the 2010 NLCS when it looked like it was about to spiral out of control...10.1 innings in the 2012 postseason, 5 hits allowed, 0.00 ERA....wins the clinching game of the 2014 NLCS by getting out of a 9th inning jam ahead of Ishikawa's homer...11.2 innings this time out, 6 hits allowed, 0.00 ERA. Affeldt is definitely one of the big heroes of this run.

People saying the Giants are lucky the MLB added a second wild card. You do realize that the Pirates and Giants had the same reg. season record, right? They would have played a one-game playoff regardless. You don't win 3 rings in 5 years by getting lucky. Being great in the regular season doesn't mean you'll do well in the playoffs. That's why they play the games.
@TheRecklessMetalhead9 жыл бұрын
rainafter snowplease Right. Winning 3 rings in 5 seasons doesn't mean the Giants were lucky, it's chemistry. The entire Giants organization had chemistry to win games and championships, not just Mad Bum himself. At least, Bumgarner did an outstanding job throughout the 2014 postseason though. And fact, I'm a Giants fan. ;)
@KazeShikamaru8 жыл бұрын
+rainafter snowplease I think some people think it's abuse of the system though. This is basically showing you don't need to win 100 games to win a title so people think some teams will just hang around the wildcard and play for that. I am hearing the Wildcard winner are winning more than the division leader.
@TheGeorgeD138 жыл бұрын
+rainafter snow please As a Dodgers Fan, completely agree with what you said. With all that said, though, Hopefully this is Our year.

You guys have 2 aces that can carry the team. They need to show up , especially Kershaw this post season. Good luck from a giants fan.
@rainaftersnowplease37868 жыл бұрын
That makes no sense though. It's obviously riskier to be in a 1-game playoff than go straight into a 5-game series. And even if wild card teams do win more often - who cares? The point of the regular season is to see who gets to the playoffs. What happens after that has nothing to do with your regular season performance by design. Otherwise they'd just declare the team with the best record to be WS champs.

I have been watching baseball since the 1970's. Harold Reynolds is the best color commentator I have ever heard. The man is so sharp and knowledgeable. Previous favorites include Joe Garagiola, who did not share Reynold's genius, but was just fun to listen to (mostly because his co-announcer, the all-time greatest, Vin Scully). Joe Morgan should also be in the Hall of Fame - not just for being the greatest second baseman of all time, but for his announcing skills. Nonetheless, Harold is just great.

The most epic game 7 of the World Series since 2001 World Series between Yankees and diamondbacks
Too bad Pablo Sandoval won't be here next year, but I can live with that. I'll always appreciate what Pablo has done for the Giants and wish him success in Boston, a team I respect. Contract was a little much though... Now what do we expect for 2015? Angel Pagan will likely be back as starting outfielder, Hector Sanchez as backup catcher, hopefully Marco Scutaro as starting second baseman, and Matt Cain as a starting pitcher. What do we do with Tim Lincecum, give him a final chance or just bench him? Do we bid for Yasmany Tomas? Do we look for a replacement for Tim Hudson, who has only one year left? How do we fill the hole at third base? Some interesting offseason questions should make for an interesting 2015. I suspect, like the other odd years of this decade, that 2015 will be another rebuilding year. Which if it brings a championship in 2016 I wouldn't mind at all.

Vincent Cuttolo you're probably right, still having Scutaro back wouldn't hurt. We've never had real stability at 2B this decade, with Freddy going down in 2011, then bouncing here and there till Scutaro late 2012-all of 2013, then bouncing around here and there again till Panik mid-2014 (I say mid-2014 because he didn't really stay at 2B until then). So if we can keep Scutaro at backup and Panik as starter, I'll take that.

It's sad but people come and go😢 it's just how baseball works but we have Casey McGhee from Miami i don't know if he's good but we'll find out
@haileycastanon99 жыл бұрын
At least we have nori aoki but do you think he's gonna take hunters place cause he was the right fielder for the royals. But he might take left field I don't know I just hate when there's no baseball on. Your just like sitting on your couch trying to find at least some baseball and there's like nothing on. It sucks! Let's hope we have a good season this year!
