I know it sounds dramatic but I can't explain how much better poker was then.... poker still had that "magical element" to it untill charts and solvers and GTO came along. Now it's just robots with hoodies, earbuds and 0 personality

For those curious, Frankie Gay didn't make the money, but there were several other players from the Valdosta home game also "playing for Pruitt." One of them, Allen Kennedy, ended up cashing in this ME for about $30K.

When Raymer asked Alexander if he could go back and be in any movie he say Network and Raymer acts shocked and says "I would have thought a comedy" Network is a comedy. Alexander was kind enough not to expose his oblivious comment. Classy move.

30:00 they make a big deal about Matusow bluffing a Q-2 on a 2 4 6 J 3 board... Watching this in 2009 I thought that was odd... Daniel knows Mike will just call QQ, KK, and AA to trap... especially if he knows the other player in the hand is very skilled...

During that time for us young semi-pros the common saying was "don't be intimidated by pros or anybody" So funny when you watch the young guys during this era they bring up "not being intimidated, I'm confident in my skills etc" but a guy like Sprengers A. Trying to match wits with Hellmuth and B. Actively trying to get involved in pots with him is just Young, Dumb, and full of plum... its like pulling out your guitar in front of Keith Richards and thinking you are cooler... thinking you are going to outplay and outwit him... They are wild west gunslingers, you are a dime a dozen to those guys... they love the challenge.
