We live in a world even colder now. One day I hope we can all sing about happiness.

Damn 13 years later and yet when I hear this song, I'm instantly 18 again. Cruising in my first car, a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville. When I listen to this song and this album in general I'm immediately whisked back to that time. Wow, people say time travel is impossible but whenever you hear a song from your childhood, teenage years or at any point in your life, you are thrown back into that time. The power of music is so strong that hearing this album, song for song, I close my eyes and I can see the interior of my car, the details in the surroundings where I am driving, I can smell that subtle musk my interior had due to it's age yet it's covered with the aroma of dashboard cleaner and air fresheners. It's there, plain as day, as if I just traveled back through time and relived that moment once again. I remember it all, the car, the feelings, her house and what she looked like when she got in my passenger seat. I remember everything. Time travel may be impossible from a physical stand point, but in my mind, when I close my eyes, after I turn on this song, I can see it all, as if I'm right there once again. Driving through 2007 as an 18 year old ready to take on all of what life is meant to give. Wow. Just powerful. I know other people when they read this they will know exactly what im talking about. It's a feeling so particular that even when I do my best to describe it, my vocabulary still comes up short because it's such a distinct feeling that it's borderline impossible to describe. Wow, to be young and alive. There's nothing like it. The fun, the freedom, the youth, the love, the heartbreak. All of it. I'd give anything to live it again if I could yet I wouldn't change a damn thing from the time I have already lived. Any young person in their teenage years, if you're reading this, go out and live! Forget the computer and video games. If you have a car, get in it, put on some tunes, go pick up your girl, and just drive. If you don't have a car, go walk and enjoy your youth and the music. I'm going to put this comment on every song video I come across that reminds me of such a time. All because for me, gone are the days, but for anyone young reading this, your days are on the horizon! Go live! Please, put the phone down, and go live out your youth. Experience is everything, life experience and the stories you accumulate are absolutely priceless. If you grow older and you have no exciting, fun, or sad stories to tell others about your youth, then my friends, you haven't lived. So please, go live!

I remember listening to this song as a “troubled” child with undiagnosed autism & narcissistic parents. Without songs like this I wouldn’t have been able to cope. Im very thankful for this song.

I remember hearing this song right after the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007. Somebody made a memorial video using this song.

It starts with pain, followed by hate. Fueled by the endless questions, no one will answer. A stain, covers my pants. Thorns in my sides starts up bleeding allll niiiight.
