As an Aussie, ill fill you in why theres lot of audience members. The Royal Easter Show is basically a yearly giant carnival that is based around Australian farmers and produce. Its also pretty boring, so everyone at the carnival is just wondering around doing nothing, they hear the finals for woodchopping is going on at the stadium and they think 'fuck it, might as well watch that' Then shit son, you get invested. You watch the burly country men chop wood like their life depended on it. Different events doing different kinds of chopping, different woods and then... it all makes sense..... it all comes together... The Sydney Royal Easter Show is fucking boring.
