@Southern Fun Actually, yes it is. Not only do children have a much higher power to weight ratio, meaning they are stronger in comparison to their body weight than an adult, at an adolescent age, their growth spurt allows them to gain muscle very quickly, much faster than adults. That means they progress very much faster than someone who begins later in life.

To all the people complaining about there not being a way down: Psicocomp is a deep water climbing competition. It is specifically designed without a way down because that's part of deepwater climbing. The competitors know this coming in, and they tend to really enjoy it; that's why they're participating in the first place.

@@adolphin9348 So as a person who's afraid of heights, similar to the ladies in the video you would then jump down? Or not compete at all because you knew this is part of it? I guess if this is explicitly marketed as the ''climbing event that features an Olympic dive at the end'' then that's fine but at the same time, do people who want to compete and make a name for themselves in the sport really have a choice but to compete? I don't think it's as black and white as you would have us believe. ''Having a choice'' is often an illusion and just said by people who haven't fully understood all the moving parts and variables. This is done for entertainment. There is no value of the jump when it comes to the actual sport of climbing so that being said, how would you feel about this ''gimmick'' if one of the athletes got injured in the jump? I would say that's terrible. Getting an athlete injured for entertainment purposes that had nothing to do with the sport as such is not ok. And before you ask, yes, you can absolutely injure yourself jumping from that height EVEN when hitting the water. You can easily walk away from that with a permanent injury that in the case of rock climbing would end a career. Dives from that height do in fact require training or at least some sort of understanding of the human form. It's precisely this which makes Olympic dives so spectacular. Because you and I couldn't do what they do without injury. I guess... everyone is free to play stupid games as much as their heart desires it but then they shouldn't get surprised if they win stupid prizes? Is that ok to say?

Deep-water soloing, also known as psicobloc, is a form of solo rock climbing that relies solely upon the presence of water at the base of a climb to protect against injury from falls from the generally high-difficulty routes. RANT INCOMING: Every comment on every Psicocomp video is “OMG how could they make them jump down from the top, if they fall they could die! There should be a ladder, shame on the organizers!” 🙄 1) There ARE in fact stairs on the back side that climbers can use if they really want to. 2) A fall into the deep water is not overly dangerous from this height, and many competitions use bubbles/foam in the water to break the surface tension of the water as an extra precaution. 3) These climbers know what they are signing up for, and typically are unafraid of heights. 4) I am amazed that so many people are so insanely arrogant as to believe that a reputable, official organization would put on a public event that was legitimately mortally dangerous to anyone involved, that the athletes are ‘forced’ to jump from the top, and overall that they just know so much better than everyone who is more qualified than them in every way 🤮

I think people don't realize the spinal compression that comes with high cliff jumping. It would have been cool to see them jump from the top, but I don't blame them for downclimbing. They're athletes and I can imagine they don't want to risk any unnecessary injuries.

Especially when you see the younger swim. Hey head does come out of the water - however she clearly doesn't know how to swim and isn't confident.

@@MsLouisez yes she can swim, she just dips her head. Probably because it's nice and cool. As to why she's doing more of a dog paddle than a long swimming stroke: did you ever climb? Your forearms turn into aching concrete. Why would you willingly stretch and ache, when you can enjoy the soothing cool water and just paddle along?

Planning meeting : "I've got an idea" "What?" "lets build a really tall overhang climb and not let the climbers have safety ropes" "Yeh cool" "I suppose we will have to do it over water" "Ahh, do we have to?" "Think so ? but don't worry we will make them have to jump off" "Yessss!"

The whole point of the pool is to save them if they fall off, NOT MAKE them jump anyway. Wtf, who came up with this stupid idea? No choice to go down like a human? Even Honnold usually walks off from the other side of the mountains he climbs.

It's a deep water climbing competition. Jumping off is part of the sport, and (most) of the competitors love it. If you google it, you'll see that most climbers doing deep water climbing in the wild will also jump off as a victory lap.
