I would love to see a video on the Inter-War period (1918-1939), because its pretty much the Prelude to WWII, and its a period not many people know about. Theres many things we can learn, such as the rise of the Third Reich, the conflicts in eastern Europe, the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, the growth of the Japanese Empire, and so much things. As for this video, I loved it! I learned more things that I didnt know before, and to have it on Veterans Day makes it better! Thanks for the great content, Ruddy, keep up the good work!

"In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields." In Flanders Fields By Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae (November 30, 1872 - January 28, 1918)

For my opinion, Germany should not be held solely responsible for everything even paying for the damages after WWI. There were also other countries involved [in the war] but the victorious countries insisted to put the blame on the Germans which created a chain reaction later on to create WWII many years after.
@TheKnowledgeMan101
@TheKnowledgeMan101 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, in fact, the one who should have gotten most of the blame should be Austria-Hungary for overreacting to invading Serbia, Because the Serbian government had no part in the assassination. And even if they did, they should have made a case to the other world powers that their government is just carrying out justice for the murder of their prince, And maybe, the other powers would have understood and maybe back Austria-Hungary in defeating the Serbian government, because think about it?, Imagine if it was the Royal family of the UK or the Tsar of Russia who was assassinated instead of the prince of Austria-Hungary, would you stay silent?

Really nice overview, my only complaint being that the eastern front was barely mentioned, feels a bit too British focused to be about the world war as a whole as the title suggests. Cheers from Sweden! Ps. The description (as of writing this comment) talks about “when America went to war with itself”, seems like it belongs to another video, fyi.

Happy veterans day everyone. I have a story to share: My father and I took my Vietnam War veteran grandfather to Washington D.C. a few years ago for the first time for him to see the Vietnam War Memorial Wall. He got drafted in the late 1960s and he got injured by shrapnel from a land mine (in addition to getting shot), so he got sent home and received a Purple Heart. However, 6 of his buddies didn't make it back home, so before the trip he made a list of all of their names and where they were located on the wall. As he found each on the wall, he got very emotional knowing that he managed to come home (though injured), get married, have 3 sons, and live another 50 years, but 6 of his friends didn't.
