Nearing the end of the war one ME 109 pilot said every time he closed the canopy of his plane it felt like closing the lid of his own casket

12:46 - I do not believe that German pilot bailed out.

@@eagle7399 Good point, bailing out in combat was seriously dangerous, and a lot of pilots didn’t make it. In this case I don't think he had the time to bail out. No matter what side they were on, those pilots went through big risks. It’s a tough reminder of the human cost of war.

One of worst decisions the army air made at the end of WW2 was to do away with the P47. The. P 47 N and M would. Have came in real handy in Korea. Even Vietnam
