While being outnumbered and cut off was telling, the Imperial Japanese were NOT poorly trained. They were upto proper IJA standard for that time, which is to say they put up one Hell of a fight with proper employment of all means at their disposal.

@FourArmies I find it absouletely disgraceful to disrespect any veteran from any war no matter how unpopular war is and even if the veteran was once an enemy.

So many disrespectful comments.... If a WWII vet saw the amount of disrespectful comments on this video, especially a Kwajalein battle vet, he would be disgusted. Cheers to those of you who actually do have respect for the people who fought to keep your freedom.

Most color footage you see of WW2 is, indeed, colorized black and white footage, but there is actually some that was originally filmed in color.

@losetheweightnow I've been to Roi many times. The Altair is the biggest dish I've ever seen. When they turn it on....no one is allowed to do any work over 20 ft. in the air. The lights in the Power Plant always went nuts. I watched my friend tape a flouorecent light onto a broom handle.....climb a ladder....hold up the light...and it lit up because of the dishes power.

I knew there was a reason why I didnt want to be there. It is sad. My husband would love to go there but I wouldnt. To much for me. My husband was watching videos on this island & I asked him what he was watching so I did a search 2 watch. No disrespect. I wasnt thinking. Ive had a long night. I could feel from the first video not knowing the story I did not want to be there. It's not a story its history. I understand. God bless those who had to endure

@losetheweightnow My friend,it's no joke.I know of 4 power plant operators who worked on the second floor. They all died of cancer. Of course no one could prove it was the Altair.....so the government did nothing.

The Japanese fought till the death. Most of the "Japanese" that surrendered were actually Korean conscripts. Compare that to the several thousands of Americans who surrendered the first time they engaged in combat during the Battle of the Bulge. By diminishing the Japanese you're diminishing the Americans who had to fight them.
