Funny, but the 1D description with the 2 gears (at about 20:00) remind me of the clock with second and hour hands. Except that in this model the hour hands is sqrt(2) modulo of second hand ;-)

And the synchronisation of one neuron (system) with another, reminds me of 2 synchronized clocks. Sort of what the sailors did in the past with the marine chronometers.
