As the population of the Philippines has more than doubled since the 1980s, lands for farming decrease in size to make way for new developments. To compensate, farmers resorted to harsh farming practices that increased their yield but were harmful to the environment.
To address this issue, the World Agroforestry Centre and its partners developed a new farming system called Conservation Agriculture with Trees. This system can increase and stabilize crop yields for smallholder farmers with modest investments.

This documentary enhances our knowledge as a student of agriculture. Especially that nowadays there are many cased about illegal logging, which it cause an decreasing of trees on mountains. This video explained to us that trees are important, it helps the farmers, also all of us cause it prevents the landslides or soil erosion and it gives us fresh airs. They are also helping on the fields which giving more nutrients to soil so that farmers will benefit into it and it gives them more harvested crops.

It's pleasing to know that there are new and beneficial improvements and innovations that apply to ancient practices. In this case, innovations and improvements are being discovered and applied in agriculture. This documentary is what I would like to call "a light in the darkness" because it not only shows that there is hope for the future of agriculture through practices like conservation farming, but it shows that there is hope for the entire well-being of the nation. Indirectly, it was stated that traditional farming practices are not as efficient and productive as they were because of the damage it had done to environmental elements such as trees and soil and in turn, their own yield. Therefore, the need of an innovative technique like conservation farming has become an imperative for famers to apply if they want success in their occupation as farmers, food for their own (as well as their families') survival, and sustenance for the country's economy.

The traditional farming done by farmers before is being revived and it's helping in minimizing soil loss, labor, and disturbance. As an agricultural student, I feel ecstatic that programs like this are being implemented in some of the provinces here in our country to help our farmers and to help in reducing soil loss. I just hope that this project will be implemented in the whole country so other farmers who are struggling can experience the result and benefits. The Conservation Agriculture with Trees a project of World Agroforestry and its partners is a truly inspiring program that will encourage more people to do the same. I hope you can help more many farmers so that they won't lose hope and continue to strive.

This documentary is a great help for everybody. By the title itself 'conservative' Agriculture is on how can you take care of our land and crop without using any harsh chemicals or what so ever that could destroy our land. It is absolutely amazing how they can innovate this ideas to help our farmer instead of using some chemicals just to increase their income on their crops. It can really thought and give us some advices on learning and practicing agriculture as well as those farmers that have been struggling on how can they increase their yields and overgrow their money. Conservation Agriculture would help us restore and reserve our environment in these near future for future people.

This documentary is tremendously knowledgeable and at the same time very useful for people specifically agriculturists or farmers. As seen in the video, Conservation Agriculture with Trees has a lot of benefits such as it helps farmers increase yield or income, protects or conserves soil, it slows down global warming, improves soil fertility, reduces climate change, and a lot more. With this program we are not only saving our environment but at the same time we are also creating a safer and healthier place for our future generations. =)

Deforestation and excessive use of synthetic fertilizers is a common practice in our locality and upon watching this documentary entitled "Conservation Agriculture with Trees in the Philippines", I was able to be enlightened with the hope that it's never too late to save our environment at the same time gaining something for everyday living. This new knowledge I learned can surely be helpful to my neighborhood if I will be able to inform and educate them too. As an agriculture student, I can already help in my locality's environment by being open-minded and generous to the knowledge I have. Indeed, this farming system doesn't only focus on fulfilling the supply of food our country needs through high yields but it also protects our environment. Thus, this innovation is recommended to everyone specially to prevent environmental degregation. #AF101 - Sir Jesson Del-amen #BSA-2B

This documentary video provides a new learning for me. Wherein, Conservational Agriculture with Tree is a good farming system because this become a replacement to a harsh farming practices. Through this innovative farming system it improved the soil condition which lessen the soil erosion and leaching of nutrients or decrease in soil fertility that cause to have lower production. More, for the learning that was given by the ICRAF which from the reservation of crop residue and integration of trees which accumulate carbon that help to reduce global warming, it is such a good and brilliant idea because it become an nature-friendly unlike kaingin and deforestation. Also, this encourages the farmer to practice intercroping and cover cropping system that helps to reduce soil disturbance through minimize tillage, lessen labor requirement like weeding and land preparation, reduce pest and diseases occurrences, increase soil fertility through nitrogen fixing legumes or crops and increase soil and crop productivity. In addition, this farming system is very helpful in such a way that it lowers the expenses and increases incomes through the increase harvest or crop yields not only from single crop. So, this practices is such inspiring and encouraging most especially to the small and simple farms.

In this documentation this shows us emproving our production in crops and reducing land slide in our own farm by planting tress. By applying multicroping in farming helps the farmers to have more income and because of it the soil fertility remains fertile. Another good way in this documentation is the using of organic fertiliser which is more less price than the commercialise fertiliser. It is a good way that we have to continue to educate our self on how we produce much more crops by having low expencies.

If only i am at that place, being an agro-forester, i can help the people spread awareness about the real importance of soil and forest trees in planting cash crops for them. Farming like that helps eradicate the richness of rhe soil. It must be according to nature added with a lil technology to conserve and preserve the environment for their croppings coupled with planting trees to avoid soil erosion and hold the topsoil which is the most needed in planting crops without any use of fertilizers (chemicals)

Most farmers in our community have been practicing the conventional way and transitioning to conservation agriculture may not be easy. Looking into the principles and methods, it really is labour intensive and the profit may not be as expected especially on the process of transitioning and the first years. As years pass and they got well- established, there's no need for extensive labour while gaining profit. On top of that, this conservation agriculture is indeed a good practice to adapt to somehow save our agricultural areas and the environment as a whole.

This documentary provides information as well as awareness on how to protect the environment. As we all know, some farming practices affects the environment that is why it is necessary to address it in order to minimize the negative effects. It is nice to know that there are new farming system being developed that can aid the harsh farming practices. Conservation Agriculture with Trees is very helpful as it maximises the tilling of the soil for it disturb the soil which causes soil loss due to over tillage. Trees plays a vital role in preventing erosion. It also help farmers to increase their crop yields. #Sir Del-amen

This documentary is very helpful to us, especially for farmers. Through this video , we could gain some knowledge and advices that will help us to learn. In this video, we can see that one problem of the farmers are the fertilizer that the price is getting higher. As a student under Agriculture, watching this video helps me to gain more knowledge about soil fertility, soil conservation, and productivity. Another environmental-friendly ideas learned! Undeniably, I found this video beneficial for an agriculture students like us. Rapid growing population requires a greater demand for food supply. For this reason, there is already nonstop soil and environment degradation brought by the excessive use of synthetics and chemicals, including the occurrence of health risks among the farmers and the consumers as well. Fortunately, these farming systems were developed in order to sustain the demands of high quality food supplies while maintaining a healthy environment. Mentioned in the above comment, this innovative program truly gives hope, hope for the future generations. Sir Jesson Del-amen (BSA-2B)

Since the rise of the population, the environment became critical for farming without proper compensation. I can say that the WAC and its partners evaluated the problems well in addressing the issue thru Conservation Agriculture with Trees. This farming system is applicable in stabilizing yields of crops genuinely. Basically to protect or reduce the soil/disturbance and increase chance to store carbon. Therefore, this system is potential in this kind of struggle to reduce global warming. #Sir Jesson Del-amen

Through this system the crop yields can increase ,for the small farmers with modest investment.Using this system we can maintain organic cover through crop residues and cover crops to minimize erosion loss by wind or water. And maintaining organic matter, to avoid using commercial fertilizer that can cause soil Degradation, nitrogen leaching and loss of soil carbon. This documentary entitled as “Conservation Agriculture with Trees in the Philippines” developed to help compensate Filipino farmers despite the harsh farming practices just to increase yield but harmful to the environment. As an agricultural student, this documentary added up in my vocabulary that trees actually helps to soil fertility. Due to the double increase of population in the Philippines, farmers thought of harsh and harmful farming through synthetic fertilizer, etc. just to increase the yield and productivity which is harmful to the environment. With this, ‘’conservation agriculture with trees’’ program actually helps farmers, ranchers, and foresters enhance soil health, mitigate water pollution, and increase wildlife. Aside from those, it also helps increase crop yield productivity while being friendly to the environment.
