The World Is A POORER Place Without Bob Andy - His Music, Humbleness & Wisdom Live On ~

This man should be in every English Textbook in the Caribbean because of his writing prowess. Even his introduction is profound "I am alive and well and this is the best day of my life because I am alive and since the only time is NOW. I am seizing the opportunity at this moment to be as well as I can be". What a Gem of a man.

Bob Andy used to spend time with my next door neighbor in the late 80's early 90's in St. Andrew Ja. That's when I learned not to idolize or put another human on a pedestal. He used to be abroad often, but when he visited he spent the time indoors for days on end smoking crack. My neighbor was so enamored with and in awe of this great songwriting genius, several years her elder, that she followed his lead and began smoking crack daily with him. According to her, his explanation was that smoking cocaine promoted "consciousness" but was being suppressed by the "system" lol. Btw, not being negative here...oh I forgot, nothing wrong with embracing negative stuff, which apparently includes using hard drugs too.

I am surprised sad and sorry to hear about that. Part of drug addiction is self delusion. Crack Cocaine is extremely destructive and I am thankful I have been spared from it's temptations.

Nothing wrong with being honest. As much as we can learn not to put a human being on a pedestal, with or without their dark side or their weaknesses, we can realise we are no better no worse. Only the rarest amongst us, the elect of God and their inheritors who strive on the path are lifted above the level of ego desires.

Keith Anderson or Bob Andy wrote the deep meaning poetic lyrical song titled "the ghetto stays in the mind" It should really be more widely recognised for the deep truth about humanity that it relates to, but it is too painful, too evocative, too true and therefore it can't be played as an entertainment, which is what most listeners want from their music. I will not speak of my understanding of the song, because possibly it is different from your own, or different even than what was intended by the composer. Many songwriters will say that their songs mean whatever it means to the individual, and that holds true. I invite you dear reader to listen and draw your own conclusion. The song undoubtedly reflects wisdom born from experience. It asks questions, it is a cry from the heart which implores the sufferers to be as one and lift one another up, and only they can free themselves from the spiritual poverty that breeds emnity and despair. As Bob Marley mentioned "none but ourself can free our mind". Ah so it go. These two great sons of Jamaica were musician commentators, who want to call them prophet, they must first learn who or what declares that rank. There have been prophets for every time , for every nation, but the line of prophethood is sealed.
